Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with another week's instalment from Planet Earth, ready to spill the tea (and perhaps some glitter too!) on my latest adventures. Buckle up, my dears, because this week, it's been quite the cosmic whirl!
Now, if you've been following my adventures on www.pink-tutu.com (which I do hope you have, as it's the only place on the internet to find a pink tutu wearing ballerina blogging about space!), you'll know that I'm a firm believer in embracing life with a flourish. A dash of sparkle, a splash of pink, and a whole lotta tutu are the keys to my happiness. And let's face it, there's no better place to embrace that than out amongst the stars!
So, last week I found myself travelling back through time (yes, that's right - my spaceship comes equipped with a fancy schmancy time-travelling device!), landing back in 2011 for a delightful visit to this date - July 20th! And what did the good old earth have in store for a pink tutu-wearing, interstellar fashionista like myself? Let me tell you...
Ballet in the SunshineFirstly, let's talk ballet! No visit to Earth is complete without seeing a show, is it? Thankfully, this delightful planet has such a rich history of theatrical delights. And on this date, I was fortunate enough to attend the most stunning production of Giselle by the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden!
Oh, my darlings, it was simply exquisite! The sheer elegance and grace of the dancers was captivating, with every plié and arabesque so beautifully executed. I do love the elegance of the 19th-century ballet style. There is such delicate beauty and romance. Of course, the tutus were something else! So many beautiful ballerinas swirling and spinning in delicate tutus, every movement so intricate and mesmerizing. The story itself is such a timeless classic too; a story of love, betrayal, and the heartbreaking tragedy of a beautiful spirit, with such heart-wrenching performances from the principal dancers. I swear I had tears in my eyes by the end. And, dare I say, the fact that there was even a tutu on display as part of the production added an extra dash of magic! I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures with it for my Insta, of course, sharing it with the hashtag #pinktutuwonderful, for those of you playing at home. It's all about inspiring everyone with the wonders of pink, tutus, and a good ballet performance, darlings.
A Bit of Culture at the Tate ModernNow, you know I am a big fan of all things beautiful. And art - well, that's right up my street, quite literally! I found myself walking over the Thames for a delightful afternoon exploring the Tate Modern, and I must say, it certainly lived up to its reputation as a masterpiece in its own right.
As an artist myself, I find it incredibly inspiring to visit such renowned museums and take in the wealth of talent and expression that these spaces contain. On this day, they were exhibiting a stunning collection of sculptures by one of my favourite artists - Yayoi Kusama! I swear, the entire museum vibrated with the sheer joy of the bold colours, dots, and playful spirit that she poured onto canvas.
My dear friends, I urge you - if you're ever in London, go and explore the Tate Modern. The energy is palpable, and it's truly a feast for the eyes and the soul. Plus, there are just so many cute outfits to photograph yourself in front of those mesmerising displays. It is always a win in my book! After my trip to the Tate, I couldn't help but go to a local dress shop and snag a few bits and bobs for my ever-growing wardrobe. It seems I’ve a bit of an obsession with colour, you see. I think this colour-blocking polka dot outfit would perfectly complement the colour-bomb-style artwork that was on display. And naturally, you can never go wrong with a pair of fabulous pink ballet pumps!
Fashion Fusion: Pink Tutu Style in LondonBut it wouldn't be a trip to Planet Earth without a visit to a world-famous department store, would it? Now, my dearest lovelies, I have a confession to make. I just can't resist the allure of London's fashion district. The energy, the style, the ever-changing trends… it simply ignites a fire in my fashion-loving heart. So, naturally, a trip to Harrods was a must!
And let me tell you, darling, this store is truly an experience. From the gorgeous displays of handbags to the shimmering rows of shoes and clothing, it was a feast for the senses. I mean, if you're going to spend the afternoon in one of the most iconic department stores on earth, you're going to want to take photos, and of course, Instagram everything, right? It would have been rude not to. So, let me tell you, darling - my trip to Harrods had some fab finds:
- The ultimate pink tutu: A pale, shimmering pink tutu - absolutely perfect for a summer's day on Planet Earth, with its soft, floaty fabric and intricate layers of tulle. You just can't get a more exquisite shade of pink, darling!
- A statement necklace: A bold, shimmering silver statement necklace to add some sparkle to any outfit! Perfect for a ballet performance.
- Sparkling shoes: A pair of exquisite ballet flats with a glittering rose-gold embellishment. They were perfect for that afternoon and truly added some glitz to the London street scene. (Of course, in my ultimate quest for all things pink, I would totally recommend that any reader make this purchase too, but replace the embellishment with some sparkling pink accents - that's all about rocking the pink power in life).
And of course, it goes without saying, I made sure my wardrobe had all the latest in high street fashion for when I get home - my friends know it's a running joke about my love for Zara.
And that brings us to the end of another Planet Earth blog post, my lovelies!
A Cosmic ReminderUntil next week, keep those pink tutus shining, keep spreading joy, and most importantly, never stop believing in the magic that surrounds us! After all, as my good friend the celestial spirit, Priscilla, says - 'A sprinkle of pink and a good dance never hurt anyone.'
Love and sparkles,
Emma xx
