Pink Tutu World: Intergalactic Travels - Episode 880: Planet Earth (07.03.2012)

Hello darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood Pink Tutu Ambassador, back with another exciting blog post, fresh from my latest cosmic adventure. This week, I'm back on good old Planet Earth, my home planet and the heart of tutu-tastic fashion. Don't think for a moment, however, that my journey's over! Oh no, darling, I've got an entire galaxy to conquer with the glorious message of the Pink Tutu, and that starts right here, right now.

After last week's whirlwind trip to the Orion Nebula, (where, believe it or not, the pink tulle is absolutely divine - did you know the nebular dust actually catches the light in such a magical way that it looks like a celestial tutu?) I’ve returned to my Derbyshire roots. Yes, the home of Peak District landscapes, clotted cream teas, and – let’s be honest – a whole lot of floral-patterned dressing gowns.

As a Pink Tutu Warrior, I must always be mindful of my origins, so before setting off to conquer the stars, it’s essential to check in with the home turf. Plus, you can’t beat a hearty English breakfast after a long spaceship ride! (Especially when you can find a full English served with a dollop of whipped cream on top!)

But before we dive into the depths of Derbyshire, let's talk fashion.

This week's celestial style? Well, the intergalactic chic is still very much on trend. However, for my Earthly adventures, I’ve embraced a little bit of 'deconstructed sparkle', if you will. This calls for some dramatic styling – think billowing pink tulle draped around the shoulders, paired with a bold gemstone necklace for a touch of glamour, and my trademark knee-high pink patent boots, of course. A splash of fuchsia lipstick finishes off the look.

Pink Tutu Adventures on Earth

Back in good old Derbyshire, my first stop was my absolute favourite ballet school. You can't find a better place for a good pirouette and some truly stunning tutu designs. My afternoon at the Royal Academy of Dance was a sheer delight! I always find a lovely crop of new designers who are trying their hand at fresh takes on classic styles.

Did you know that tutus are evolving faster than a supernova? It's quite an incredible thing to watch, especially with all the exciting experimentation going on with different fabric types and construction. (Let's not forget that we are talking about something truly revolutionary, even more exciting than when Madame Rosa, founder of Tutu Maison in Paris, took the world by storm with the tulle, nearly a century ago. )

In my opinion, nothing is quite as glamorous as seeing dancers adorned with the ethereal pink fluff – so delicate, so light, yet full of life and movement. It’s ballet’s gift to fashion, darling! The drama, the grace, the elegance – it’s pure magic. This time, the school’s newest recruit had a unique take on the pink tulle; she created a masterpiece, made from layers and layers of shimmering, textured fabric.

Naturally, I had to do a spot of shopping! It's not all tutus, darling, even if they are my heart's desire, a little shopping spree here and there is essential to staying fresh and fashionable. Derbyshire might be rural, but you wouldn't believe the quaint shops tucked away amongst the rolling hills. Think quirky vintage finds, quirky independent boutiques, and charming little shops crammed with delicious cheeses and artisan cakes. All very charming, in their own English, "earthy" way!

My Ballet Dream

After the shopping, I indulged my inner ballerina and caught a truly dazzling performance at the prestigious Derby Theatre. They were performing “Swan Lake.” There's nothing quite like the magic of ballet, and especially nothing quite like watching it in its place of origin. There's history in every footfall, in every whisper of tulle and in the stories woven into each gesture and glance.

The ballerina's pink tulle skirt literally sparkled with the stage lights! It shimmered in shades of pastel pinks and light purples as she glided through the final scene, leaving me speechless. (Well, not exactly speechless, as I did whisper excitedly about my own next "Pink Tutu World" photoshoot).

And let’s face it, isn’t ballet one of those amazing experiences that is designed for tutus? The fluidity of the movement, the soft femininity, the dramatic elegance. A good old Pink Tutu completes the story. I wonder if, perhaps, one day I could have a tutu incorporated as part of the actual performance on stage! That would certainly be something!

You'll find that some people, some creatures even, on the intergalactic network have some curious thoughts about wearing a Pink Tutu. After all, what can one make of the humble pink tutu in a cosmic realm dominated by stars, galaxies and, occasionally, a good ol' black hole? However, my ambition, darling, is not to bring these aliens over to Pink Tutu’s side in one, grand swoop, but rather to convert one celestial being at a time, slowly building an empire of pink fluff! It’s about passion and passion alone. You can’t be anything but joyful when you’re surrounded by beautiful Pink Tutu’s!

Fashion for the Soul: What I’m Loving This Week

Right now, the planet is all abuzz about this little item of "earth fashion" - it’s a small knitted Pink Tutu - absolutely exquisite. And guess what? It’s designed for, oh, my darlings – babies! Oh, how delightful, they’re truly born for these pink and sparkly creations. And the pink ones are, of course, the most gorgeous! If ever there was a way to promote a bit of elegance from day one, it would have to be a delicate, pink knitted baby tutu!

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore baby boys, but how can anyone resist a sweet baby in a baby pink knitted tutu? Especially when it’s complete with some of those oh so delightful little ballerina shoes? I must confess, darling, that the tiny pink tutu, alongside my "Space Couture" line is inspiring my own future collections! I already have several concepts planned, from galactic star tutus to diamond-encrusted planetary tutus. The sky, darling, it is truly the limit.

Oh, and there is another very important event taking place today: a planetary alignment, a planetary tutu parade you might call it. You won't believe the stars! (And not the celestial ones). Tonight there is a special ballet show and, guess what? They've incorporated Pink Tutu designs into their costumes for this very special occasion. It's the Pink Tutu party to end all parties.

To give you an exclusive peek into this magnificent celebration, I have to confess there's something wonderfully ironic about it all – you’d think the ballet world wouldn't embrace such a quirky and playful style as enthusiastically as they have. I certainly thought this trend would be a hard sell at first. But I can see that, just like me, the balletic world is finally getting to terms with the cosmic power of the pink tutu. And isn’t that something wonderful! It’s spreading, the pink tutu love!

As always, I encourage all my fabulous readers to join me on my quest to spread the love of pink tutus across the universe! Let's dance our way to a future full of glittery glamour and endless possibilities!

Until next Wednesday, darlings. Stay tutu-tastic!
