Pink Tutu World: Blog Post 1021: Ballet on Planet Earth!

Wednesday, November 19th, 2014

Darling dears! Emma here, your pink tutu-clad, intergalactic ballerina, landing back on Planet Earth after another dazzling adventure. This week's travel tale takes us to a very special destination, one close to my heart… Earth itself!

Remember, darling, every Wednesday I journey to the far reaches of the cosmos, bringing you, my loyal readers, the very best in celestial fashion, dazzling dance routines, and utterly divine adventures. And how else would I afford this glamorous lifestyle, you might ask? Why, through my exquisite, award-winning ballet performances, of course! After all, every tutu needs a little funding for those cosmic dustings!

And let me tell you, I'm absolutely ecstatic to be back on good ol' Earth for this week's post. After a whirlwind trip to Venus, a truly heavenly planet, let's just say, a girl needs a little home-style comfort.

So, back to Earth, my Earthly friends. Did you know, on this very date in history, 19th November 2014, something extraordinary happened? You're looking at me! I landed in good old, Derbyshire, England, and, much to my delight, performed to a packed house at the Derbyshire Royal Theatre. They say it's all about location, location, location… and it definitely paid off for me this time!

Now, to be perfectly honest, this time was a tad… different. It wasn’t some grand, spectacular space-age performance under the glistening constellations of the Milky Way. I wasn’t prancing around on a twinkling star platform in a bespoke diamond-encrusted tutu. It was just… good old-fashioned ballet, right here on Earth, where it all began.

And what a revelation! The earthy energy, the raw, unbridled passion of the ballet fans, the tangible excitement buzzing around the venue, it all filled me with a feeling I’d never experienced before. It was... pure magic.

There’s something special about a traditional performance, in a historic theatre, full of those ardent ballet-lovers who just know what they’re watching. Every twirl, every pirouette, every single movement is embraced with fervent applause. It really does bring out the dancer in everyone!

Naturally, I had to sport my very best pink tutu for the occasion! And let's not forget my glittering tiara, perfectly polished pink ballet shoes, and an utterly stunning hand-beaded pink and pearl clutch. I wouldn't dream of visiting the world's greatest ballet theatres without bringing my A-game, darling!

And trust me, those fans know their stuff! My audience had me utterly charmed, especially with my rendition of Giselle, always a crowd-pleaser! Just wait until you hear the backstory on the original tutu worn by Giselle – oh, a fascinating tale! For example, did you know, the first ever tutu, worn by Marie Taglioni in the 1841 ballet La Sylphide, wasn’t pink at all! It was white! Such a revolutionary change, especially in those times when ballet was dominated by grand, floor-length skirts!

I always incorporate my little talks on ballet history into my routines. It's such a rich tapestry, woven with centuries of drama, innovation, and oh-so-stylish clothing! But I mustn’t digress… the Derbyshire performance went swimmingly!

I ended the night with a standing ovation – you can see a sneak peek of it in the gallery below! I practically floated through the throngs of fans afterwards, everyone cooing over the sparkly new diamond embellishment I'd added to my trusty pink tutu – another fab purchase on my travels, by the way. And of course, I took the opportunity to visit a local tutu-themed shop. Always a highlight of any Earth visit for me, dear! And boy, did they have a magnificent collection! I bought some gorgeous silk ribbon for my next tutu design and found a most delightful selection of handmade tutu embellishments – such fabulous choices. It was a tutu-lover's dream!

Afterward, it was onto a fabulous meal at the White Swan, an old-world charm of a pub, brimming with cosy, roaring fires, hearty British food, and - what’s this? - a delicious apple cider concoction I discovered is known as a ‘pint!’ My, oh my!

I just can't get over how beautifully traditional this part of the world feels. You can truly feel the history swirling around you in every alleyway, every historic building. The cobblestone streets and quaint villages, the sprawling green hills… such a far cry from the vast deserts of Venus! I’ll admit, a small part of me thinks maybe a little part of me wishes I could stay!

Before my intergalactic flight back to my cosmic domicile, I snuck in a visit to the Peak District – that breathtaking national park, just a short hop away. The stunning, wild landscape… it felt like a step back in time. Such peaceful beauty, with its quaint villages and charming streams. Truly an ideal place for my ballet classes on the planet Earth – imagine all the dance inspiration!

And you know me, darling! I’m always scheming for a brand new ballet routine, my next extraordinary show, my next stellar performance. A girl needs to be perpetually prepped and primed for her next grand entrance – the cosmic ballet, the Earthly stage – every stage is our stage, darlings!

And in case you’ve been hiding under a cosmic rock this past week, let me inform you, you’re about to receive the hottest ballet trends for the upcoming holiday season, because - it's almost time to get sparkly! Yes, those festive celebrations we all love, from twinkling Christmas lights to roaring New Year's Eve, all bring me great joy. But you know I've got a bigger picture, don't you? It's all about making this world more beautiful. More festive!

More… PINK TUTU!!

And so, my darlings, this concludes my whirlwind visit back to planet Earth. I truly believe the joy and wonder of dance can inspire people everywhere – across galaxies, across oceans, across time. My mission, as you all know, is to take this cosmic pink tutu world further than any ballerina has ever ventured before. I’m spreading the message of tutu-wearing, tutu-making, and yes, even tutu-loving. From Derbyshire, England to the furthest corners of the cosmos, one pink tutu at a time!

Until next week’s post, be sure to visit www.pink-tutu.com for your weekly dose of fabulous intergalactic fashion, fabulous dance trends, and… well, pink tutus!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, dear, I've got a date with a cosmic shower and a very large glass of vintage cosmic champagne!

Lots of love,

Emma xox
