Hey darlings! 💖 Emma here, reporting live from planet Earth, where it's Wednesday, the 26th of November, 2014. And you know what that means? It's time for another fabulous Pink Tutu World blog post! 💅✨
This week has been simply bursting with exciting ballet adventures - I even found time to squeeze in a little retail therapy, because let's be honest, a girl's gotta have her tutus, right?! 🤭
I kicked off the week back in Derbyshire, where I spent some delightful hours revisiting the Derbyshire Dance Studio. Oh, those beautiful memories! Every pirouette, every grand jeté… It all came flooding back. You wouldn’t believe it, but I actually found my very first tutu there! It's a beautiful pale pink, so delicate and sweet - you just know it was destined for me! 💖 I still cherish it, a precious reminder of how it all began.
Feeling utterly inspired by the past, I then dashed off to London for the most enchanting show I've ever seen. It was a special performance at the Royal Opera House, "The Nutcracker," but with a twist! They'd reimagined it with modern costumes and a fabulous blend of contemporary ballet and classical storytelling. The story's pretty much the same - Clara, the brave young girl, journey's to a magical land full of nutcrackers and fairies…but let's just say the tutus had a little bit more of a oomph this time around! They were simply stunning! 💖
You see, I have this little motto – tutus are never outdated. A good tutu, my darlings, can stand the test of time. You just need to update it a little, find new ways to interpret it, and that's precisely what they've done in London. It was such a fantastic fusion, full of breathtaking beauty, heart-wrenching emotion, and plenty of tutus to be found. I couldn't help but add a few more treasures to my collection while I was there. 😉
Of course, no ballet adventure is complete without a good old-fashioned dance class. I hopped on a space-liner, whizzed over to New York (always a great city for ballet!) and found myself surrounded by fellow tutu-wearing enthusiasts at a fantastically fierce ballet class. We were all sweating and spinning, channeling our inner prima ballerinas - truly inspirational stuff!
And talking about inspirational stuff… Did I tell you I bumped into the lovely Ms. Penelope Penelope, the iconic costume designer from Planet Zephyr?! We were at a show, and she looked simply divine - she was rocking this sensational metallic blue tutu that was completely out of this world! She confessed it was a little bit of an old-fashioned style, with a few embellishments to bring it up to date - kind of like giving a vintage tutu a cosmic makeover!
But, let's talk about the real purpose of this Pink Tutu World journey… because you know what I aim for? For all those beautiful beings out there, from planet Earth to the far corners of the galaxy, to rock a pink tutu. Pink is, after all, the colour of universal love and magic! 💖
If I can bring a touch of that joy, of that beautiful passion, to even a few more hearts, then it's been worth all the interstellar journeys and late nights perfecting my arabesques.
That’s it for now, darlings!
Stay glamorous and twirl your way through life with a pink tutu and a sprinkle of stardust. 💖✨
Love,
Emma
