Oh darlings! Itās Wednesday, which means it's time for my weekly blog update, straight from Planet Earth! This week has been a whirlwind of twirls and sparkles, as youāll see in this post, so grab your pink lemonade and get ready to dance along!
Now, I know I've been travelling the galaxy lately, discovering the most fabulous celestial shows from Sirius B to Proxima Centauri, but this week, it's all about coming home. Thereās no place quite like Earth, you know! Especially Derbyshire.
My gorgeous spaceship (nicknamed 'The Tutu-mobile') just landed back in my cute cottage garden, after my latest grand adventure. The air feels so crisp here, you just want to twirl! I love this part of the world, itās so green and peaceful⦠just like a perfectly choreographed dance routine. And, Iāve missed the peace and quiet, away from the vibrant galaxies full of neon stardust. I actually have to explain to a couple of intergalactic guests, who Iām planning to take to a London Ballet show on the weekend, that yes, in the most unexpected places, you really can buy milk that isn't fermented for interstellar travel. It seems pretty crazy! They think it's wild that I even drink milk, which I suppose in a world where all sorts of interesting milk replacements exist, they have a point!
But itās good to be back and, as a special treat, Iāve actually decided to showcase what's going on in the ballet world, here on our dear Earth.
Firstly, my darling blog-readers, do you know it's International Ballet Day? Can you believe it! How very fitting then that my own little corner of the cosmos has landed back on Earth during this beautiful day. We all know how much I adore celebrating this wonderful art form - all its grace, its stories, its historical context! Itās an honour to celebrate International Ballet Day, so I'm dedicating my whole post to the magic of ballet, here on Planet Earth.
I even popped into London last night and got to see the Royal Balletās āGiselle,ā and darling! it was positively magical! A magnificent portrayal of love, heartbreak and betrayal set in 19th century Germany - a ballet I never get tired of. You have to appreciate the brilliance of a ballet that combines both the classic dance with the haunting story! They call it "romantics" or the Romantic Era, I call it "absolutely divine!" They just get everything right, itās a whole spectacle. I just love being immersed in such exquisite performances, full of talent, and then, once the lights are up, popping off to grab a hot chocolate in my fluffy tutu, at my favourite coffee shop! So glamorous!
Speaking of glamorous, this season at the Royal Ballet is just out of this world! They've got all sorts of productions happening, from the ever-popular "Swan Lake" (and let's be honest, we all have to agree, no ballerina can resist a beautiful white tutu - I especially love the big one that takes center stage!), to "Manon" and "Don Quixote." They really are a treat to the eye! Even better, it's all happening in the Royal Opera House, so let's face it, that alone should make the occasion worth celebrating, with a fabulous tulle dress and sparkly shoes of course! And you just know there's going to be so many magnificent pink tutus twirling across that beautiful stage!
Talking about "Don Quixote" ⦠did you know that it's based on a novel, written by Cervantes, about the Spanish "Knight-Errant?" Now that's my kind of literary inspiration! "Don Quixote" the book, that is! You know I always love a good tale of adventure. You know what the universe needs? More space-faring ballerinas! My mission: To share the joy of ballet everywhere and help bring all the tutus in the universe to life! And with all the interstellar adventures I have planned in the future, you can bet that pink tutus are going to be at the centre of it all!
Now back to Earth, and the ballet season! Donāt think for a moment that all the beautiful ballet is just in London! Right now, across the UK, there are a number of independent companies working tirelessly to bring us fabulous dance performances, even small town Derbyshire, you know! They just don't get enough publicity! For example, the fantastic Northern Ballet, based in Leeds, has a really exciting spring season lined up, all sorts of incredible shows.
Now, for the other aspect of this planet⦠letās talk fashion. Now, since this week I'm celebrating both Planet Earth, the ballet, and the magnificent tutu - and these just naturally have to go together ā you simply have to know that I visited a ballet and dance clothing store. I just couldnāt resist it! I felt drawn towards all the wonderful fabrics, all that sparkle! Honestly, darling, it felt like I was floating on air! And, Iāve managed to track down some new fabrics, perfect for making my own tutus. So I canāt wait to share these with you when I create my new tutu and blog it here! I really feel a beautiful new tutu collection coming on! My own designs, naturally! You'll be hearing all about it, I'm sure. Now, all thatās left to do is, get out my sewing machine, all that tulle, and of course, sparkly material and, before you know it, I will have myself a whole collection!
However, I am on the lookout for my new 'Signature pink tutu" Oh my goodness, it has to be the most extraordinary tutu in the universe! And since, this blog post is a celebration of Ballet on Planet Earth, I really do hope it is one that comes from somewhere, local to Derbyshire. Oh darling, imagine that! I wouldn't even have to travel all over the universe! My dream of travelling the stars on the most amazing, pink and magical tutu journey, may well come true! It might have a whole intergalactic dance ensemble! Imagine the spectacle.
On that note, do have a happy International Ballet Day, and do keep those toes tappin' my darling blog readers. Oh, and be sure to check in next week for another instalment from Pink Tutu World - my space travels take me next to Uranus! The whole galaxy knows of my obsession with space, and how much I love to dress up for an occasion, it would be truly cosmic if the planet inspired my new look. But for this week, this is me signing off, till next week!
Lots of love (and sparkly dust),
Emma
