Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Blog Post #1064

Hello darlings! Emma here, back from another fabulous intergalactic adventure, and oh, what a whirlwind it was! It’s Wednesday again, which means a new blog post, fresh from the Pink Tutu World HQ on Planet Earth! (Did I mention my HQ is in my very own sparkly pink space rocket? I’ll post a picture on my Instagram – @pinktutuemma - later!)

This week's adventure was to planet Earth, my dear home planet! I mean, you’d think I’d be sick of the sight of it after all the time I’ve spent here (and by the way, if you are one of the very few who haven’t met me before, let me introduce myself – I'm Emma, the tutu-wearing, space-exploring ballerina blogger! I aim to get the entire universe rocking pink tutus, and what better place to start than right here on Planet Earth?)

However, even I, the ultimate fashionista, have to admit that Earth still has something special that keeps pulling me back! I always find so much inspiration here, especially when it comes to ballet! The ballets here on Earth have just such incredible storytelling, and it’s that storytelling which really speaks to my heart! You can find a bit of yourself in the characters, in the dramas, in the beauty, even in the hardship, of what’s displayed on the stage. The earthling choreographers and dancers just have this unique skill, and I always walk out of the theatre feeling refreshed, re-inspired, and bursting with new creative ideas for my own ballet performances!

So, my dear readers, let's talk about this week’s trip: I flew into a rather lovely corner of England (not too far from my own little hometown of Derbyshire) on 16th September 2015. Let me tell you, a little rain is no obstacle to a fabulous day of ballet-loving fun, and what a lovely, fresh, exciting September day it was, full of vibrant colour. What an exciting day of adventures, especially when you find yourself standing at the threshold of some of the most incredible performance spaces and meeting amazing people! My day, of course, started with some ballet class to keep my tutus moving beautifully (who wants to spend their whole day travelling when they can start the day with a lovely class? No-one I know, darling!).

Then, the shopping! Oh, my dears, how I do adore the vintage boutiques of Planet Earth. You can just get so much fun history for your outfit there – a tutu from the 50s, a skirt from the 70s! So chic, so lovely, it’s amazing! You always know a little bit of history comes with you when you dress like that! I think you all know what my favourite colours are, and let me tell you, they really didn't disappoint me on that lovely trip to London. All those colours are just such a delicious indulgence! They fill me up and remind me to have fun with my outfits! So, my dearest readers, my blog readers, do you wear pink and have you got a tutu in your wardrobe, maybe a big fluffy one for a special occasion? Remember, everyone can be a little bit pink in a lovely tutu, whether it’s on the planet Earth or anywhere else in the universe. And let’s be honest, a little pink does go with everything! So let your freak flag fly, darling, and wear some pink!

I can't resist saying that for the last few weeks I’ve been working on a new Pink Tutu World ballet! This one is about a spaceship pilot named Serena, who is secretly a ballerina but hides her tutu passion from her intergalactic friends and colleagues. She secretly does little ballet shows all around the galaxy! And this ballet, darling, will incorporate not one but two pink tutus, both vintage and oh-so-very pretty and perfect for interstellar flight! The music’s coming together so nicely, and it’s going to be fantastic. Maybe you’ll see me performing it in your corner of the universe someday! I’ll tell you more about it in the weeks to come…

But first! The best part of my day on Earth was getting to see a real performance on that very day! (A real ballerina on a real stage!). Now I am not saying this just because I’m obsessed with ballets; this really was a very special, almost otherworldly experience. Even though, of course, the whole Earthly planet had a lot to offer, I found myself completely captivated, drawn to the stage and to the dancers’ movements, and totally in awe of the artistry and the stories they told through their dances.

The music was simply beautiful, as always, the dancers performed so effortlessly and their costumes were incredible. It was such a spectacle, so breathtaking! The whole performance made me feel such a wave of joy and sadness at the same time! A deep joy in being part of this world, and also a touch of melancholy because the show ended and the music finished, and everything went back to being the real world… for a little while anyway, until my next spaceship flight. The Earth really does offer some magic; if you’re feeling the urge for a touch of ballet wonder, go out and explore your planet; you won’t regret it. Just like all those ballet classes in those fancy ballrooms! Did you know that Planet Earth has some really lovely fancy ballrooms too? Imagine the ball gowns and the suits, the beautiful atmosphere, all swirling with romance… You just have to put your tutu on, spin, and you can be anywhere in the universe. It’s wonderful! I truly feel the love when I put on my favourite tutu and then set off on adventures around the cosmos!

Well, darlings, it’s almost time to prepare for another journey. But don’t forget to come and find me next week for another installment of Pink Tutu World, right here on this website: www.pink-tutu.com (if you have any questions about how to get your own pink tutu or how to travel the universe in one – just drop me a line!). I am going to spend this week getting to grips with some fancy new tutus, designing some ballet sets and writing new music for my own intergalactic ballets! So, you know what to do; put on your fanciest outfit (pink tutu optional but totally encouraged!), and I’ll see you next Wednesday!

Much love and glitter! Emma

PS: And just so you know, this was a very special day because a great new ballet by the English choreographer, who shall remain unnamed , made its debut on this very day – it’s got one of my absolute favourite tutus in it (it has pink!), so make sure you try and see it too! Hint, hint Have a fab week, darlings, and until next time… Always remember that life is too short to wear dull colours and you are a shining star with a fantastic outfit waiting to be explored! Go get out there!
