Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, and can you believe it's almost 2016? Where did this year go? Honestly, it feels like I blinked, and now it's time for another sparkly, glamorous, twirling New Year!
But before we say "goodbye" to 2015, I have to tell you all about my whirlwind trip back to my favourite planet: Earth! It's always a bit of a shock going from intergalactic travel to planet Earth – the spaceship does a marvellous job of blocking out all those pesky Earthling smells (like you know, traffic and ... people!).
However, I knew exactly what I wanted to do this trip: see a ballet in my beloved Derbyshire, where I was born and bred, and bring in the New Year in the most fabulous way!
I landed on New Year's Eve, ready to have the most wonderful evening at Derby Theatre! I'm talking fabulous tutu, matching pink lipstick and all. Oh, I was even wearing pink sparkly nail polish! Everything just had to be PINK, darling. It's all about matching your inner fabulousness to your external style! I may not be a queen, but I know how to rule a dance floor, my lovely pink tutu a symbol of my reign.
As I waited backstage, the buzz of anticipation and the intoxicating smell of theatre makeup and floral arrangements floated in the air like the scent of sweet sugared almonds! It made me feel just like Cinderella about to go to the ball! And oh, my sweet little pink tutu, it had a most delightful little twirl - it just knew it was destined for stardom! The sheer volume of tutus backstage was positively amazing; the entire theatre smelled of cotton and dreams!
Once the curtain rose, we were swept away into a world of breathtaking grace, with every movement from the dancers telling a story, weaving magic on stage, and transporting us to worlds unknown. It felt like a spell had been cast over us, leaving me completely enchanted. My eyes, full of wonder, were captivated by the sheer beauty of the choreography! It made my own twirling seem like nothing more than a gentle waltz!
I have to tell you about the show – a modern interpretation of the traditional Swan Lake. Imagine the beautiful traditional swan movements combined with some breathtaking contemporary moves – like a dazzling supernova in motion! The music was beautiful – all elegant strings and stirring tempos, punctuated with those big, dramatic chords that really capture the emotions. The dancers were phenomenal. There was so much strength and emotion behind every move – even the smallest flick of the wrist had the whole audience holding its breath!
As the final notes of the ballet faded and the applause of the crowd erupted, I was buzzing! This is exactly the type of joy I live for! It's not just about watching the performance; it's about feeling the passion and the creativity that breathes life into those stories. And there is something truly magical about seeing talented dancers and musicians giving their all, leaving you breathless and enchanted at the end.
After the curtain call, I found myself caught up in the swirl of dancers leaving the theatre – and of course, a few selfies were absolutely in order, to be posted on my "Pink-Tutu.com" website later that evening!
I have to confess to you, my lovelies, I spent the majority of the next few days in shops. But not just any shops – fashion shops, darling! I was absolutely spoiled for choice and ended up bringing home an enormous suitcase filled with the latest ballet outfits - and an array of pink tutu-licious items. My wardrobe was just begging for some attention, and I can tell you now, those designers simply couldn't resist me! Pink tutu always makes an entrance!
Before you know it, it was New Year's Eve, and my New Year's Eve dress – it was an exquisite shade of pink, naturally, with silver sequins that shimmered in the dim light, and oh, my sweet, darling – it made my skin glow with pure loveliness! Of course, I didn't forget my fabulous tutu, draped perfectly over a chair, just in case a random dance party decided to spontaneously erupt! It's always wise to be prepared!
New Year's Eve was magical, and the best bit, was sharing it with some old friends from Derbyshire. I've never been a big fan of fancy parties, so it was so lovely just to enjoy a relaxed evening with good food, good music, and lots of dancing!
We danced the night away, my friends' husbands and boyfriends watching us with bemused affection. My dance floor prowess is something special – and by the way, that new pink dress - it really knew how to twirl!
After a night of endless laughs and delicious food (you should try their fish and chips, it was delightful!), I finally tucked into bed around 2 am, exhausted but incredibly happy.
You see, my darlings, sometimes the greatest journeys are not measured in light-years, but in the joyful moments that touch your soul. I've made memories this trip that will last a lifetime - a lovely new pink tutu outfit, an amazing ballet performance and friends to share it all with! That's exactly the kind of happiness you find when you dare to embrace your inner sparkle, wear your pink tutus, and twirl your way through life!
Remember my lovely tutu-wearing fairies, every day is an adventure, a stage waiting for our performance! So grab your favourite pink tutu, dust off your glitter, and get ready for a spectacularly dazzling New Year!
Love, Emma
Ballet Musings - On the "Pink Tutu" World website, it’s time for a ballet break down!As always, you know my dear readers, I am all about delving into the magical history behind ballet! This week, I'm going to give you a crash course on tutus, those essential bits of fabulousness in any ballerina's wardrobe.
Tutues haven't always been the fluffy masterpieces they are today! When ballet was just emerging, they were actually more practical than glamorous. Early ballet dancers wore very simple dresses, long and flowing with only a tiny, short frill around the waist – quite boring when you consider what a tutu can be these days!
However, ballet was a very demanding art form! Imagine a dancing dancer, all stiff fabrics and restrictive layers - not exactly an easy feat! Thankfully, Marie Camargo, a famed ballerina, started using a new technique that emphasized lightness and grace! And you know, that meant a wardrobe revolution – say hello to the first tutus.
It wasn't until the 1800s that tutus really began to make an appearance! And the style quickly morphed – they evolved from short, flowing designs into the fluffy, romantic tutu that most people imagine!
So, there you have it, my dears - a glimpse into the history of that beloved ballerina masterpiece. I just love a little bit of tutu history!
Pink Tutu Picks – Fashion tips to make you the most dazzling ballerina on the block. It's time to get sassy! This week, my dears, I am obsessing over everything pink and twirly! I have my sights set on some lovely pink leotards to spice up my everyday look.

If you don’t believe me, take a trip to your favourite dance store - they all have the most spectacular range of dance wear to try and buy - including tutus of every shape, size, and shade. Even some stunning tutus with metallic detailing for a glamorous look – I just had to get a silver, sparkling version – my very own twinkling space ballet princess!
When it comes to a tutu, don't be afraid to embrace the full glory! Remember, a fabulous pink tutu makes any outfit look extra magical – a bit of fabulous pink fluff in your wardrobe never goes amiss!
