Hello my darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new blog post on Pink Tutu World! Can you believe we've already reached blog post number 1080? Time flies when you're twirling around the galaxy, don't you think?
This week I'm back on good ol' Planet Earth. Honestly, I'm a little jetlagged from my last adventure - a trip to a charming little moon called Artemis. They have the most amazing vintage tutu shops there. Found the most beautiful, mint green, tulle tutu, perfect for a moonlit waltz! Anyway, back to earth now. And today I'm focusing on a most delightful topic: Ballet!
Now, I know some of you may be thinking "Ballet on Planet Earth? But darling, haven't we already covered that?"
Well, darling, there is always more to explore in the world of ballet. It's not just a form of dance; it's a journey, an art form, a story unfolding on stage with every graceful leap and delicate pirouette. It's a world of imagination, where dreams take flight, where emotions are expressed through the language of the body, and yes, of course, it's an excuse to wear a beautiful, fabulous pink tutu!
Speaking of pink tutus, let's take a trip down memory lane. Can you believe that tutus weren't always pink? The history of tutus is truly fascinating! Originally, they weren't even considered the main garment in a ballet outfit, but a sort of… under-layer! They were even made from a fabric called crinoline, which you might recognise from those stunning Victorian ladies in old movies. Imagine! Can you picture ballerinas wearing that stiff fabric? It must have been an impressive performance!
But over the years, they transformed into what we know today. Think long, wispy layers of tulle, swirling around the stage, often finished with elaborate lace detailing and… oh, I just can't resist...pink! Of course!
And what's the date today? It's the 6th of January 2016. It's a great day to appreciate the ballet, and luckily for us, there are many ballet shows happening on Earth at this very moment. On this day, just a hop skip and a jump away from Derbyshire where I grew up, the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall is showcasing the Royal Ballet, featuring "Giselle", a timeless ballet about love, heartbreak, and the supernatural. Can't you just imagine it? Those exquisite movements, the dramatic score, and the costumes... oh darling, they're simply divine!
But that's not all! We don't have to travel far to find the beauty of ballet. In my neighbourhood in London, I've been indulging myself with a few classes at the National Ballet School. They even offer a class just for "adult beginners" which is so helpful, especially for a galactic dancer like me! And wouldn't you know it, even ballet classes offer endless opportunities to wear the perfect pink tutu! Let's be honest, what better way to embrace a beautiful day than a graceful pirouette, right?
I'm always so grateful for the wonderful dance studios all across the Earth, spreading the joy of ballet to so many people. There is such a vibrant dance scene here - and if you ever want to come to a show or a class with me, just message me through the website.
Now, to stay on theme with the ballet, I wanted to discuss something special that always catches my eye: Ballet shoes. You know, those little pink leather slippers. Honestly, there's something so exquisite about them! I adore the simple elegance of their design, their craftsmanship, and the fact that they can help a dancer float across the stage like a dream. Ballet shoes, they are like magic, a bridge between reality and the enchanting world of dance.
Oh, speaking of enchantment! Did you know that some believe that ballerinas wear pink tutus to attract good fortune? Pink has always been considered a colour of good luck and optimism! So darling, wouldn't you agree, if you're twirling around on a stage in a stunning pink tutu, there is something truly special in the air? It's the perfect blend of passion, artistry, and a whole lot of girly magic!
While we're on the topic of the enchanting world of ballet, I thought it might be fun to explore another important detail – the iconic ballet bun. We all know those buns are more than just a hairstyle; they’re like the cherry on top of the perfect ballet sundae! It's a testament to the intricate detail and precision that go into a performance. And let's be honest, it gives every ballerina a beautiful halo of flowing hair, like a radiant sun shining on the stage.
And did I mention I always choose my perfect pink tutu based on the style of bun I'll be wearing? It's crucial! A sleek, high bun might call for a simple, classic tutu, while a lower bun could require a cascading layer of tulle.
Let’s be real, there’s just something captivating about the artistry and glamour that radiates from a dancer, particularly when paired with their ballerina bun and, of course, their majestic pink tutu.
While I am always travelling around, you can check out this week's events by scrolling to the end of this blog post. And keep an eye out for some very exciting events coming soon:
Next Week’s Plans:
On Monday, January 10th, 2016, I am launching my Pink Tutu Masterclass on Planet Jupiter. That's right, I will be holding an exclusive ballet workshop, where dancers from across the universe can learn from the best in the business! The classes will feature a blend of classic ballet, some modern twists, and a special focus on wearing the perfect pink tutu for any performance.
Oh, and it wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu World blog post without a special shout-out to my beloved pink tutu collection. I just got my latest tutu! This time, it's a shimmering, iridescent, lavender-pink masterpiece made by one of the most esteemed designers from planet Venus. And let me tell you, this tutu will be the highlight of my trip to the Ballet Spectacular Gala, which I'll be performing at on the 12th of January! You won't want to miss out on the pictures!
As I head off for a luxurious shopping spree for my next intergalactic tour, I want to encourage all of you to find your own passion. What sparks your inner joy? What makes you want to twirl with happiness? Whatever it is, embrace it, explore it, and most importantly, share it with the world!
Until next Wednesday, remember, there is no dream too big for a pink tutu, so keep twirling!
Yours always, Emma
