Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World! It’s Wednesday, the 2nd of August, 2017, and I’m back from a truly sensational trip to Planet Earth! You guys, it was truly out of this world. Giggles
Okay, so you're probably thinking, “Emma, you're from Derbyshire, what on earth are you talking about?” Well, allow me to explain. Remember my stellar performance at the Grand Galactic Ballet Competition? The judges were impressed by my Swan Lake routine and the shimmer of my custom-made, cosmic pink tutu. That dazzling performance secured a prize - a free, first-class space voyage, anywhere in the cosmos!
I had been dreaming of going back to my home planet for ages! So of course, I snagged a trip back to Earth, and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint.
Firstly, I had to get myself a proper outfit! Now, while Earth's fashion is rather earthy (get it?), I wanted something both stylish and interstellar. I stumbled upon this gorgeous vintage store in London - oh, the thrill! They had this amazing coral pink 50's prom dress with the cutest petticoat, and you wouldn't believe the lace detail! I knew it had to be mine!
After an absolutely delightful fish and chips supper (the perfect Earth treat), it was time to catch the very first showing of The Nutcracker in Birmingham! As an earth-born, Derbyshire lass, I simply adore seeing a traditional, proper British ballet, the ones that truly set the bar. The costumes were truly inspiring and I saw a new twist on the traditional Nutcracker narrative, one with more modern music! My heart is bursting with creativity!
After the ballet, I even found time to go for a vintage shopping spree in Covent Garden - they have such darling shops! I even snagged this absolutely adorable hand-painted, silk tote bag with a ballerina in pink doing the arabesque.
Of course, no trip back to my home planet would be complete without a visit to Derbyshire, my beautiful home county. The scenery is just so quintessentially English. And you know me, I wouldn't leave Derbyshire without visiting a local ballet studio. There I got a chance to join a lovely class, where I found myself falling in love with the elegance and joy of ballet all over again. Those lovely ladies were a bit intimidated by my pink tutu and my interstellar stories at first, but by the end, we were all twirling together, sharing tips and laughter! It was truly a joy!
And then came the best part! After seeing that inspiring performance of The Nutcracker, and all that I had seen and felt during my week on Earth, it inspired me to do something magical!
My trip back to Earth gave me the perfect push to start a brand new project. It's all going to be about the magic of ballet! I'm calling it, Ballet Blooms, a new campaign I'm starting right here on Pink Tutu World. It's about celebrating everything ballet - its elegance, its history, its passion. I’ll be sharing all sorts of exciting content about Earth’s rich ballet tradition - vintage tutus, historic dancers, inspiring shows. Plus, I’ll also be showing you amazing tutu and ballet looks from all around the universe. I’m hoping to find an exciting new ballerina to star in a collaboration project soon, someone who has that genuine spark of ballet love!
So keep an eye on this space for updates on that new project, darling! I'll be sharing tons of gorgeous photos and exciting news as it happens. Until next Wednesday, remember to embrace your inner ballerina and sparkle on!
Lots of love, Emma xo
