Planet Earth Adventures: Post 1168 - A Cosmic Ballet!

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, and today's post is bursting with excitement! I'm writing to you from… drumroll… PLANET EARTH! I know, I know, after all my cosmic travels it's a bit of a change of scenery. But sometimes, you just gotta go back to your roots. Especially when your roots are planted in a world full of dazzling ballet shows, delicious afternoon teas, and… of course… the most fabulous shops!

Speaking of roots, I'm so excited to be back in Derbyshire, England, the very place I learned to love everything pink, twirly, and tutu-tastic. It's such a beautiful county! The rolling green hills and quaint villages are just begging to be explored… preferably in a gorgeous pink tutu, of course!

But hold your horses, lovelies! I’m not here for a simple countryside holiday. Today is a special day – the day the celestial ballet takes centre stage! It's September 13th, 2017, and, I've come all the way back to Planet Earth to attend the premiere of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by the world-famous Royal Ballet Company in Covent Garden. I can barely contain myself! I absolutely adore Shakespeare, and seeing the magical story of Oberon and Titania brought to life by the graceful dancers of the Royal Ballet – oh, it's going to be divine!

Now, let's talk about my outfit, darling! Because no Emma trip is complete without a little pink tutu magic. I’ve gone for a fluffy, layered tulle tutu in the palest blush pink. I’ve paired it with a shimmery silver bodice and sparkling ballet flats. It’s giving ‘ethereal fairy’ vibes, just perfect for a night of Shakespearean magic.

Speaking of magic, I've got something utterly spellbinding for you all - a Tutu Time Travel blog special! I’ve been doing a little research (okay, a LOT of research - who am I kidding?), and the ballet we’re seeing tonight actually has a rather surprising connection to tutus. You know how everyone loves those beautiful, billowing Victorian-era tutus, the ones with the huge, multi-layered skirts? Well, they were introduced to ballet NOT during the Victorian era… but during the 19th Century, in fact, just before 1830.

Apparently, a lovely ballet dancer named Marie Taglioni felt like the then-traditional "tight, fitted skirts" didn’t let her movements soar, so she made a radical decision… she requested a skirt that floated and twirled with her, a skirt that made her look almost like a graceful ethereal creature! And… bam! The ballerina tutu as we know it was born! Talk about iconic! It just goes to show that a little bit of creative vision can revolutionise a whole art form, just like how pink tutus are set to change the universe… one sequin at a time, darling!

So, imagine all that historical* beauty on the stage tonight! It's just going to be magnificent. But it’s not just the performance I’m excited about; I have my eye on some delightful post-ballet festivities too. London is simply a treasure trove of vintage boutiques and independent shops, filled with gems waiting to be discovered! I’m hoping to add a few fabulous pieces to my wardrobe… who knows, maybe even a new tutu?

Oh, and of course, I'm going to stop for the best afternoon tea in London! With my lovely mother who came to the planet earth for this very purpose! How’s that for some family bonding?

But back to the spaceship! That's it from Planet Earth for now, dears! I’ve got a tutu to wear, a show to watch, and tea to be had! Until next week, keep those spirits soaring, embrace the twirl, and remember – there's a little bit of pink tutu magic in all of us!

Lots of love,

Emma
