Pink Tutu World: Blog Post #1182 - Ballet on Planet Earth! 🩰🌎💖

Hey darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, Emma, and I'm absolutely bursting with excitement to share my latest intergalactic adventures! I know you all just love a good travel story, so hold onto your sequins, this one's a corker!

This week I landed back on planet Earth after a whirlwind tour of the Andromeda Galaxy, where I managed to (dare I say) revolutionise their entire dance scene! Yep, you heard that right - Andromeda Galaxy, pink tutus, and me! But more on that in a future blog post, darlings. I'm dying to spill all the tea, but today we're focused on Planet Earth!

Landing back here felt so familiar. It was December the 20th, 2017, a crisp winter’s day, and my little spaceship landed right on schedule at East Midlands Airport in Derbyshire (my home county!), ready for my next earthbound escapade. It felt like stepping into a classic ballet scene – the grey clouds floating by, a few snowflakes daring to make their way down, the muted hues of the wintry landscape, and the ever-so-gentle breeze carrying the sweet smell of hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies. Heavenly!

I’m back in the UK for a quick whistle-stop tour to check out some of the greatest ballet performances. I have to keep my dancing skills sharp you know, so this trip is also about immersing myself in the world of ballet and theatre again. This time, I’m here for a must-see performance by the Royal Ballet in London, Giselle. I've booked the best seats in the house – the centre stalls – for the ultimate viewing experience, it's the ultimate treat for my eyes and my tutu!

Of course, no trip back to earth is complete without some retail therapy, darlings! My little spaceship trunk needs refilling, so my schedule has room for some extensive shopping! First up, I'm heading straight for a new pink tutu, duh! This one's a bespoke masterpiece designed for a new dance sequence I've been working on. We’re talking fluffy layers, delicate embellishments, and a sprinkle of glitz and glamour to boot! Then, onto Bond Street and Harrods, where I’ll be picking up some exquisite ball gowns and some truly enchanting new jewels – I’m thinking tiaras for this earth trip, yes, just a bit of royalty mixed in! 👑✨

You know I love a good performance, but my trip to Earth this time isn't all about the ballet. I'm here to share my love of this majestic dance form with others, to ignite a pink tutu passion in everyone I meet! So, this week, I’m taking part in a series of workshops for young aspiring ballerinas at the Birmingham Royal Ballet. We’ll be dancing our way through a classic repertoire and exploring some of my favourite historical ballet moves and stories. My mission is simple: inspire and empower these young dancers with a sprinkle of pink tutu magic!

Speaking of inspiration, the history of ballet on this planet is quite the tale, darlings! Did you know that the first documented performance of a ballet was held way back in the 16th century? I think I need a whole new blog post dedicated to just this story!

As you know, I love delving into history, especially when it comes to tutus. From the humble beginnings of ballet to the stunning evolution of the tutu we know today, each stage brings a fascinating new layer to this elegant dancewear. The tutus we see today, with all their magnificent forms and textures, really have evolved so much from the original humble versions worn back in the 16th century, but still represent such elegant grace!

I always love talking about my love of ballet – and it’s so good to have this platform for sharing my love for it with everyone! To get you in the mood for Giselle (oh, this one is such a classic!), I'm sharing some ballet resources for my earthbound fans! I love a good bit of reading myself! The best ones, the ones you have to read, are ‘Giselle’ by Théophile Gautier and 'The Dance' by Arnold Haskell – these are true masterpieces and definitely worth adding to your bookshelves.

Speaking of books, have you seen my new ‘Pink Tutu Diaries’? You have to have it! It’s the perfect companion for your daily life, filled with inspiring quotes and plenty of space for you to record your own pink tutu adventures – it's pretty fabulous if I do say so myself! 💅🏻

I’m not finished with the earth just yet! I'll be spending a few more weeks touring, dancing, and shopping, before setting off on a whole new adventure! Where do you think I’ll head to next? Let me know your guesses in the comments below!

On Planet Earth: 2017-12-20

This is what is happening on Earth in this blog, from December the 20th, 2017. I find that seeing what happens on this date each year helps me connect with my earthly roots.

  • Music:

This week on the music charts is “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran - Now, we might not have that one in the Andromeda galaxy, they're more into ethereal symphonies, but you gotta love a good pop banger!

  • Movies:

'The Greatest Showman' is showing at the cinema – this one is all about glitz, glamour, and, well, showing the world your greatest talents. The kind of story that truly inspires! I'm so into those themes, and the music in this one is quite fabulous!

  • TV:

It’s the holiday season, so we have Christmas TV galore on! ‘The Great British Bake Off’ final has just happened. What an epic display of baking artistry, and all that deliciousness. And of course, I'm already eagerly anticipating 'The Crown’ season 2! It’s all about royalty, which always gives me that pink tutu feels.

I’ve just loved having my time on Earth this time – always nice to be back where it all started. The pink tutu magic was working overtime!

And with that, I'm off to another galaxy. Until next week!

Love, Emma xx
