Hello darling tutu-lovers! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu World blog post! This week I'm all aflutter after a whirlwind adventure on Planet Earth! Yes, darling, you read that right - this time, it's Earth I'm sharing all about! Who would have thought, but you just can't keep this Pink Tutu traveller grounded!
I've been planning this trip for ages! Ever since I stumbled upon a fabulous old video from 1958 called "Ballerina on Planet Earth," I knew I had to see it for myself. Honestly, the vintage fashions alone were enough to get me booking the spaceship, but Earth also has a rich history of ballet and fashion, so I knew there'd be endless pink-tutu opportunities!
A Derbyshire Girl's TaleBefore I take you through all the adventures, let's have a little catch-up on my life on Planet Earth, shall we? I'm from a quaint little corner of Derbyshire, England, where dreams of ballet blossom even in the midst of rolling hills and sheep grazing. From the age of 3, my love for dance blossomed with every pirouette and every plié. My grandad, bless him, always said I danced before I could walk, and my life was filled with little pink tutus, bright tap shoes and enough hair ribbons to rival a queen's treasure chest!
Now, before I continue, darling, let's clear the air: my love for pink is NOT limited to tutus, no, not by a long shot. I simply find it the most beautiful colour in the universe - just like the pinks that shimmer in the sunset, and those pastel pink fluffy clouds you find on a spring day. And there's nothing I love more than a glorious pink tutu – and who knows, maybe one day, all the planets will be swirling in pink tutus, just like I dream of!
### Earthly Delights - It’s Ballet Time!
Alright, let's talk about the main event: ballet on Planet Earth! The 31st of January found me in London, the city that's always busting with energy and where fashion and ballet swirl in perfect harmony!
First on the agenda was the grand Royal Opera House. Can we just agree that the grandness of this place is literally something out of a fairytale? And oh, the tutus! I spotted so many glorious, magnificent designs - each one more elaborate and fabulous than the next! And I had to grab myself a stunning silver tutu for the perfect night-out outfit - just think how glamorous I'll look against a backdrop of spacey constellations!
For the actual show, darling, it was Giselle! If you've never seen it, you absolutely MUST put it on your planet-hopping to-do list! This ballet just tells you everything about the history of Planet Earth's love affair with dance and tutus. The way the dancers tell stories with just their movement is simply breathtaking! For me, the sheer brilliance of Planet Earth's dancers is right up there with the finest stargazing!
The Fashion Fix - Planet Earth StyleBut you know me darling - it's never just about the ballet! It's all about the whole shebang: fashion, shows, the excitement, the chatter, and the amazing feeling that you get from just being in a bustling city on a beautiful Planet Earth!
And this was definitely the case at the Royal Opera House! The "black tie" dress code was heaven on earth! I was ready for my grand entrance - I went full-out pink. It was an oversized tulle pink dress from a darling little boutique called "Vintage Dreams". It was a vintage 50s find that matched a vibrant pink tulle tutu I picked up at a local store! And let's not forget the essential finishing touches: my pink feather boa and sparkling diamond necklace - truly an Earthly dream!
Later, I headed to Covent Garden - the area in London brimming with street performances, bustling shops and an atmosphere that you've just got to experience! There, I stumbled upon a performance from "Dance Now!" – an incredible troupe of street dancers spinning stories with incredible energy and grace. Let me tell you, darling, those tutus and leotards - they absolutely stole my heart! I can't help myself - I'm thinking of trying to incorporate a little street dancing into my intergalactic routines - just a touch!
London Lights and Earthly TreatsI rounded out the evening with dinner at a fabulous place called "The Ivy". Of course, I had to wear a fabulous pair of pink heels. And there was even a little ballet performance by the staff - just the perfect way to end my Earthly evening! They might have thought I was a bit over the top, but I had a fantastic time (and a very full tummy) from my "fancy dinner!"
Back to My Galaxy, and Tutu-ful ThoughtsThe next morning, I was up early, packing my galactic suitcases and ready to head back to my ship - but don't worry, you'll see much more of me back on Planet Earth, darling!
Until then, I hope you've found some fun inspiration! Let me know what you're doing to add some Pink Tutu World flair to your life - and let me know which planets you’d like me to explore! Remember to visit www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for a brand-new post, just for you!
Stay twirling, my sweet tutus!
XOXO,
