Pink Tutu World: Blog Post #1215 - Ballet on Planet Earth: 8th August 2018

Hello, my gorgeous fellow tutu-lovers! Emma here, reporting live from planet Earth! The sun is shining (not that we get much of that in old Blighty), and the birds are singing. I feel incredibly chirpy and absolutely bursting with pink-hued excitement. You know why? It’s time for my weekly Pink Tutu World blog post and this week, darling, we are diving into the fascinating world of ballet on this glorious planet!

Landing in London: From Space to Stage

My interstellar travels have taken me on quite the adventure, and last week, I hopped aboard my trusty spaceship (she really needs a good wash after those moon landings, bless her!) and journeyed to the buzzing capital of London, planet Earth. I’m in town to catch a glimpse of the legendary Royal Ballet Company, and I am so excited you have no idea!

Before I gush about the incredible dancing I’m about to witness (and before we even talk about the spectacular tutus…ooh, the tutus!), let's have a quick chat about what makes London such a fascinating ballet hot-spot.

Firstly, London is home to the esteemed Royal Opera House, a haven for the performing arts, where ballet reigns supreme. This place, my darlings, is legendary! Imagine a grand old building dripping in history, steeped in tradition, where ballerinas glide across the stage, captivating audiences for centuries! I can just picture the swirling tutus and the dramatic leaps. Sigh!

And of course, no London ballet journey would be complete without a trip to the Victoria & Albert Museum (or V&A as we like to call it), which houses an impressive collection of costumes from the world of ballet. You’re talking historic tutus, shimmering gowns, and dazzling footwear, all ready to whisk you away on a time-traveling adventure. It’s enough to inspire even the most jaded of ballerina!

A Celebration of Ballet

So, it’s 8th August, and I'm sipping a glass of bubbly (and of course, I’m wearing my most glamorous pink tutu), getting ready to immerse myself in the magic of the Royal Ballet. The programme tonight features a double bill of two completely different masterpieces:

  • First up, we have Giselle. Now, this one is truly an icon of the ballet world, steeped in romance and tragedy. It’s about love, betrayal, and the supernatural. Prepare yourselves for heartbreakingly beautiful choreography and an atmosphere as thrilling as a dark and stormy night!
  • Then, for a complete change of pace, we have La Bayadere. Now, this one is an explosion of colour, music and sheer dramatic passion, taking us to the opulent courts of India, featuring majestic dancing, intricate costumes and breathtaking sets! I'm sure it'll be an absolutely spectacular show!

Finding My Tutu Spirit: From Derbyshire to the World

Back on planet Earth, I was born and raised in Derbyshire, a picturesque county in the heart of England. Yes, I’m one of those quintessential British ladies who loves a cup of tea, a good slice of cake, and a gossip with my neighbours! However, while Derbyshire is beautiful, it’s not exactly known for being a global centre of ballet! That’s why I had to find my own way!

At a tender age, I was obsessed with ballerinas, swirling their pink tutus and effortlessly gliding across the stage. The beauty and grace of ballet completely mesmerized me. Every Saturday, I’d drag my parents to the local dance studio, and that's where I fell in love with the magical world of tutus and pliĆ©s!

The only problem was that, although there were some ballet schools around, there wasn’t really a ā€œballet cultureā€ in Derbyshire. I mean, if you asked the people of Derbyshire to tell you a ballet fact, they might stare at you like you're speaking a foreign language! But that’s all about to change.

I’m on a mission, you see, to bring the magic of ballet to everyone. I’ve had some fabulous success already, spreading the message of dance to the furthest reaches of the galaxy!

A Global Community of Tutu Lovers

I can’t imagine my life without dancing. It's not just about moving my body - it's about expression, creativity, and storytelling. It's about connecting with my inner ballerina and inspiring others to do the same. That's where Pink Tutu World comes in, you see.

My blog, which you can find on www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday (don’t forget to bookmark it!), is all about celebrating the beauty of ballet, embracing the joy of twirling, and embracing our inner fabulous!

I aim to share my passion with everyone, everywhere. My blog features stories, travel adventures, tutu inspiration, behind-the-scenes glimpses of ballet classes, dance history, the most wonderful shops selling gorgeous tutus (and all things pink, naturally) and much more! I love chatting with you about all things tutu, sharing stories of ballet around the world, and I always appreciate your comments.

Tutu Adventures for Everyone

While ballet can be enjoyed by people of all ages, I find that most dancers have something in common – their obsession with tutus! If you haven’t had the chance to explore this wonderful world of colourful fabric, tulle and sequins (because honestly, a bit of sparkle makes everything more fun, right?), then you're missing out on a true sartorial joy. It's all about expressing yourself through colour, through style, and yes, through an absolute passion for pink, as anyone who has stumbled across this blog knows!

My love for tutus, my love for ballet and my desire to spread the love, that’s how Pink Tutu World came to be. I truly believe that every ballerina, whether on planet Earth or beyond, should have access to a stunning tutu, a place to twirl, and a space to celebrate all things fabulous.

I want to use my love for ballet and for tutus to connect people from all walks of life, regardless of their age, gender, or location, because I truly believe that the magic of dance transcends boundaries! And I truly believe, after all my travels, that pink is indeed, the perfect colour for everyone. And there’s no better time to jump into the world of pink tutus than right now.

Keep on twirling, darling! I’ll see you all back here next week for another exciting update from Pink Tutu World.
