Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth (Post #1237)

Helloooo my darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu World, your one-stop shop for all things pink, fluffy, and fabulous!

This week, I'm back on Planet Earth after a whirlwind adventure that saw me zipping across galaxies and landing right in the heart of…well, actually, it was just the outskirts of Derby, my home town in Derbyshire, England. The local council seemed to think my spaceship was a rather large pigeon, so it landed me in a park next to the local leisure centre! rolls eyes dramatically They need to update their intergalactic protocol, that's for sure!

Anyway, enough about these mundane earthlings! Let's talk about what REALLY matters…BALLET!

This week was packed full of amazing ballet happenings. On Monday, I finally found the perfect vintage tutu to wear to my Wednesday night ballet class. (Don't you just LOVE the excitement of finding a rare, pristine vintage tutu? Just look at those swirls and the colour of this beautiful fabric, you just want to wear it every day!). The perfect fit for my upcoming ballet performance at the local Derby theatre.

And talking about theatre, have you heard of Ballet Under the Stars? This year's performances are incredible! It's a ballet experience you can't miss! You get to watch talented dancers pirouette under a breathtaking night sky, while sipping a glass of pink champagne (I always wear a matching pink feather boa) and don't forget the pink cupcakes, they're an absolute must for any pink tutu wearing ballerina! The performance I saw had a captivating rendition of the Sleeping Beauty and I'm still buzzing about it! They even managed to get the whole audience to participate with a flash mob - oh, the memories! You've simply got to see it to believe it!

A tutu a day keeps the space blues away!

But let’s get back to me… You may be asking, "Emma, what are you up to today? What are you doing in Derby of all places?". Well, darling, today was the day, the grand opening of the new ā€œBallet & Cupcakesā€ cafe, and trust me, I had a tutu ready for this!

I arrived at the cafe, wearing the most amazing sparkly pink tutu - a real head turner - and got into line to try all the decadent treats, from tutu-themed cupcakes to delicious macarons and even ballerina-shaped cake pops, all beautifully displayed. You really get a feeling for this whole tutu love affair, don’t you? They even served us ballerina lattes and a new tutu-tini with a splash of sparkle. Everything was absolutely delicious! Sigh I might even be adding it to my "tutu go-to places" list, although a visit can be pricey.

And that’s what I love about planet earth - they don't have these fancy cafe places, full of sweets and cakes like you do in the galaxy.

They did, however, try to sell me an extravagant ā€œspace-tutuā€ from an odd little shop called Cosmic Chic just around the corner. It’s supposed to be super breathable and it claims to allow me to glide like a space ballet dancer! But they're quite pricey… and it came in a rather hideous shade of neon green. Honestly, dear readers, I could NEVER! Pink is the colour of grace and elegance. There's no way I would ever abandon my love of pink for an ugly colour! My loyalties lie with the universe's favourite colour and I intend to get the whole of the cosmos wearing it! My mission continues.

After lunch, I dashed to the new ballet store called Dancers World. They have an impressive collection of tutus (I must add this to my "tutu to-do list") but there was not a pink tutu to be found! Can you believe it?! The absolute horror! It was almost as shocking as the time I found a blue-haired alien eating a space bagel with my tutu on, instead of pink jam! (No, really, it happened - see, intergalactic travelling gets me into some wild adventures.) Anyway, we all made up at the space spa afterwards, I donned a pink mask and a glass of sparkling wine, we had a chat about our personal colour preferences, and now we are best friends! It just goes to show that anything can happen when you are living life in a pink tutu!

The most fascinating aspect of planet earth was how this ā€œballet cultureā€ thrives here. So many beautiful shows! It felt a little like travelling back in time because here they were still using this ā€œlive performanceā€ concept - which means you actually get to go and see real dancers moving on stage. Honestly, you really can't replicate that experience on an holographic platform, even if it can project a very good rendition of the Swan Lake! This time it was at The Royal Opera House and I saw The Nutcracker, an enchanting Christmas favourite. There is just so much life and soul in the performances, a little something extra special that just brings me to life!

It's not just ballet they're passionate about either; this ā€œEarth-lifeā€ is teeming with vibrant art, delicious cuisine (don't get me started on the incredible cupcakes - seriously, the variety!).

While you’re getting caught up in the pink tutu lifestyle on the pink-tutu.com website - have a look at my new "Earth Style Guide". It has everything you need for that tutu-licious look, whether you’re dancing at the theatre or gracing the local town square (remember to have your space ship handy, in case you need to make a quick getaway)!

And, speaking of ā€œquick getaways,ā€ my darling pink tutu world, my spaceship’s already fuelled and ready to take me on another intergalactic journey to share my adventures with you!

I hope this little snippet from my ballet-filled life on Planet Earth inspired you all. Remember to keep spreading the love and colour wherever you go, because as my wise granny always used to say, ā€œlife is too short for a grey tutu!"

So, that’s me off for this week, darling readers. Remember to check out this week’s ā€œtutu look bookā€ and join my blog and social media, to find more pictures. I am always sharing new stories of intergalactic escapades. I always love a good "Pink Tutu Tweet" too so why not share with me!

Until next time!

Love,

Emma

P.S. I found the most amazing tutu at the Royal Opera House today and couldn’t resist taking a few pictures in it. Be sure to check my "tutu collection" pictures. Oh! and make sure you've marked your diary for Saturday night. We'll have live-stream of the Royal Opera House Swan Lake performance right here on my site! I’ll even be posting live reviews, giving you the full low-down from this enchanting ballet! Stay tuned…
