Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Blog Post Number 1266

Hello, darling tutu-lovers! It’s Emma here, your intergalactic fashionista, and it’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another fabulous Pink Tutu World blog post!

This week, we're taking a well-deserved break from the dazzling lights of distant galaxies to bring you a little bit of terrestrial ballet magic! Oh, the joys of home, wouldn’t you agree? After all, the journey's not the only adventure, it's where you stop, too. You see, my cosmically fabulous ballet performances are only half the fun! There’s nothing quite like revisiting the simple, yet sublime, joys of Earth. The sheer earthiness, the sheer pleasure of
the planet, the shopping, the tea. Ah yes, a lovely pot of Earl Grey always gets me in the mood for
what? You guessed it! A ballet performance, of course!

So, I thought it would be divine fun to talk a little bit about all things ballet on Planet Earth – particularly, what I'm going to be doing on *July 31st, 2019, *because honestly, darlings, this date holds a sparkle that will make your tutu twirl!

Let’s take a little peek, shall we? A Look at What’s Going On

As a true ballet devotee, you betcha, my 31st of July calendar is jam-packed with some serious, oh-so-fabulous events that have my heart all a-flutter!

Firstly, my diary's already pencilled in (pink sparkly, naturally!) for the grand finale of the Derbyshire Dance Festival! I always enjoy a good dance festival. As I’m a true Derbyshire girl, and this is a real ‘home’ event, it's always wonderful to celebrate home grown talent. And as we're talking home, Derbyshire has produced some absolutely stunning ballet dancers! Now that's what I call talent in the county! It's an evening full of thrilling ballet performances.

Of course, no good ballet outing is complete without a tad bit of pre-performance shopping. After all, what is an elegant ballerina without her stylish, fabulous accessories? It just wouldn't be right! This is a fundamental aspect of my pre-ballet ritual, which, if I’m being honest, I do try to do every time. So, it will be no surprise that the lovely town of Bakewell, with it’s cute shops and eateries, will see me come what may. You know the drill: tutu accessories are my jam – headbands, ballet slippers (not forgetting my darling pink satin shoes!) and other delightful sparkly bits! There will be more about these in another post – but let me tell you, there’s one stunning tutu shop I found with a range of accessories I must show you. I might just make my tutu fashion dreams come true! It’s a gorgeous place in Derby, called
wait for it! (drumroll).

‘The Dance Shop’

How could it be any other name?! I have to give the Derbyshire folk full marks for original names, don't you think? It's such a delight! Every visit is a fashion adventure in itself, it's the very raison d'ĂȘtre of all that’s glamorous! They’ve got everything, and that’s no exaggeration! If it has a ballerina’s name on it, it will be in this place – that’s for sure. Just take my word for it. You have to take my word for it, if you’re near this delightful little piece of heaven on earth!

Oh, darlings! I simply must also tell you, because I know this is something you’re really going to like – I’ve finally got hold of a set of vintage ballet books from the Royal Opera House Library in London. And believe me, vintage books are, and this is crucial, not so easily obtained. Not for your old girl Emma. But, when the moment came, you’d have thought someone told me someone found an elusive pot of gold at the end of a rainbow! I could only squeal. I’ll take a photo soon to show you! This really has my fashion and tutu senses tingly! Oh darling! Vintage books? It really doesn’t get better than that! They just have such amazing photos, fashion notes. The details of how dancers looked and performed in the past are divine! The dresses, the hair, it really gets me going! I must confess I have the whole thing planned in my head, a vintage ballet fashion and history lecture for you
coming soon, so keep those pink eyes peeled!

Anyway, back to my little 31st July journey! After a lovely ballet show at the Derby Dance Festival, I’m feeling like real dinner is in order! I’m talking, “I just worked it all out at a really big ballet, and I just need a big, filling meal.” That’s exactly how it works, darling!

And after my post-show supper, I will, I must say, be embarking on a bit of a late-night intergalactic trip! Yes, darling, you heard that right, a cosmic excursion is on the cards! How do we say it in American English, anyway? Yes, a “joy ride”! I mean, why should you always need to go to distant planets during the day, why not, you know
just get a little dose of space at night, too?

Now I hear you thinking, “Emma! This girl just needs a bit of rest after the ballet. What’s a bit more planet-hopping? ” I get that you might want a relaxing glass of herbal tea in your cosy dressing gown! But listen, for me, that just doesn’t quite do the trick! So what if I just have to go through my own spaceship pre-flight checks, and travel thousands and thousands of light years just to say hello to my friends on Neptune for a cosmic afternoon tea? What does it matter?! What a joyful little planet to take the stress out of your system, am I right? I can only dream of their coral reefs. It will be so peaceful and relaxing in that quiet ocean - such a wonderful antidote for jet-lagged energy from a really fantastic ballet performance!

So, all in all, my 31st July will be full of dancing, food, fun and then the universe's best intergalactic travelling party! You’re probably just getting a feel for what's in store!

And on that note, my darlings, let’s finish up here with a little ballet fashion and your future! I simply must put this little ballet question to you, just for the fun of it. So ask yourself the question now and put the answer in the comments below:

*Who's your ultimate fashion icon from the history of ballet? *

If I ask that question, it’s got to be in a big pink and glittery, tutu-sparkly, way, am I right? So what do you think, darling? Don’t hold back, it's a free space!

And if that didn’t put the glitter back into your week, I just can’t help you. I think we’re good! Have a fun week, darling, and don’t forget to wear pink – I know I’ll be! Until next time

Emma
