Pink Tutu World: Planet Earth Post #1267: From Derbyshire to the Stars...and Back!

Hello my gorgeous cosmic darlings!

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a brand new Pink Tutu World blog post! I'm Emma, your intergalactic tutu enthusiast, and I’m beaming down to you all the way from Planet Earth. Let’s be honest, it’s not always about the glitz and glam of the stars, but this week was all about bringing that star quality back to good old Earth.

But first, let’s chat tutus! Remember that fabulously fluffy vintage tulle confection I bagged on my last trip to Saturn? It’s the one with the emerald green sequins and the seriously impractical but oh-so-lovely trail of tulle. Well, I’ve been working on some choreography for it. Nothing too demanding – I’ve learnt my lesson from the gravity-defying pas de deux on the moon – but some sweeping poses and, of course, the perfect grand jeté with that swirling train. It’s a showstopper, if I do say so myself!

Now, let’s get down to Earth! (Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

It’s Wednesday, August 7th, 2019, and I'm still buzzing about last night's absolutely divine performance of Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House in London. Remember that little performance I had back in Derbyshire to fund my trip to Alpha Centauri? I have to admit, this ballet performance here on Earth is up there with the most spectacular shows I’ve seen anywhere in the universe.

Let’s be honest, it’s impossible to NOT be blown away by Tchaikovsky's glorious score. I could listen to those sweeping strings and that dramatic piano crescendo all day long. As for the dancers, well, let’s just say that I was speechless. You know, those dancers, the ballerinas, with the strength, grace, and utter poise… that's what makes the Royal Ballet so amazing! Their precision, their elegance, their total commitment to each turn, jump, and arabesque, they took my breath away. I swear, I could have watched them dance forever! There's something so magical and captivating about live performance, isn’t there?

It got me thinking… do they even have ballerinas in those far-off galaxies? And do they have tutus that glitter under starlight? Oh, the possibilities! Perhaps I could start a celestial ballet tour. I'll have to add that to my intergalactic to-do list! After all, everyone loves a good tutu, right?

Speaking of tutus, let's talk about fashion! The haute couture that I saw last night was unreal. From the shimmering tulle of the swan's costumes to the sleek lines of the black and white tutus worn by the princes, the attention to detail was exquisite. Every single dancer on stage seemed to have walked straight out of a fairytale! I’m just dreaming of adding a little bit of that opulence and elegance to my own Pink Tutu World wardrobe. Maybe a black velvet top and a delicate tulle tutu, or a soft pastel gown and a feather boa… I’ll have to get my intergalactic shopping on!

Of course, after a performance, I needed a little shopping therapy myself! Luckily, the city of London is brimming with fabulous boutiques, and you know I was there to indulge in some retail therapy! A new pink satin dress for my trip to the Andromeda galaxy, a sparkly feather boa for a night out at the Cosmic Cafe… It’s not just about what’s in my wardrobe, it’s about what's in my heart. It’s about celebrating the joy and elegance of ballet, of fashion, and of simply being a girl who loves her tutus.

And that, my dear readers, is what it's all about. Spreading the Pink Tutu love, and making the universe a more beautiful place, one tutu at a time.

Stay tuned for next week’s post when I’m diving headfirst into the history of tutus! I’ve got some super fascinating stories and secrets I can’t wait to share! Until then, keep your pink tutu dreams alive and shining!

With love and cosmic sprinkles, Emma x

What are you wearing today, gorgeous?

Now for some of my favorite Planet Earth finds to inspire you:

*A Look at London Fashion! *

Did you see that amazing Valentino exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum? It was a real testament to the beauty and power of high fashion. If you’re into fashion history (and honestly, who isn’t!), you’re going to adore it! I have to say, the iconic red dresses had me absolutely swooning!

Speaking of the swirl of fashion… if you’re looking for the perfect dress for a special occasion, you can’t beat The Dressing Room at Selfridges in London! Seriously, it’s got the most luxurious dresses and a selection of fabulous designer clothes and accessories. The atmosphere alone is amazing, with its vintage Hollywood vibe and opulent décor!

Want to see something unique? There’s no better place than the boutique designer stalls in Covent Garden Market. You’ll find everything from vintage fashion to quirky designer jewellery! I'm all about getting one-of-a-kind pieces to add that special oomph to any outfit. It’s a real haven for style mavens looking for unique, statement pieces,

For a little ballet-inspired fun, I can’t resist the ballet shop just down the street! The Ballerina Studio in Covent Garden has an absolutely fabulous selection of ballet shoes, tights, and accessories. Their little tutu collection is divine and if you’re into ballet, it’s a MUST-SEE. Plus, their shop windows are absolutely bursting with colourful tutu-tastic magic!

The Stars Align for Ballet in London!

Let’s face it, London is a haven for any ballerinas, wannabe ballerinas, or tutu lovers! You have a chance to see absolutely incredible ballet performances, from the classics at the Royal Opera House to contemporary shows at Sadler's Wells Theatre. Honestly, with all these fantastic ballet options, I wouldn't mind having a permanent Earth-side apartment for my trips to London!

Let’s not forget about The National Gallery, a haven for all things art-inspired! Did you know that one of their famous paintings – "The Dance" by Edgar Degas – even features a tutu!

And when it comes to ballet-themed treats, my top pick for London’s best hot chocolate and cakes has got to be the iconic Hotel Chocolat on Sloane Square. (Let’s be real – any excuse for a hot chocolate is good in my book!)

Get your pink on!

The universe is a beautiful place and everyone has their own unique story to tell. Remember that. Keep smiling and dancing through the stars, everyone!

Love and glitter, Emma x
