Greetings, my darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another delightful dose of Pink Tutu World! This week, we're taking a trip down memory lane – but not in a boring way! We're revisiting a recent adventure I had here on Planet Earth, back on 9th October 2019 – a date which now holds a very special place in my tutu-clad heart.
My Derbyshire Roots and Space Dreams:
As you know, I'm a Derbyshire girl, born and bred amongst the rolling hills and quaint villages of my lovely county. It’s the most idyllic place on Earth – even more so than London! However, since my early childhood, the universe has been calling to me, and the pull of exploring the cosmos was stronger than the urge to wear wellies!
From a tender age, I knew I wanted to see the world in all its colourful glory – a desire fuelled by an equally insatiable passion for ballet, fashion, and pink tutus. Luckily, this gorgeous gal is an all-around talent: a ballerinalla, an influencer, and a certified space traveller all rolled into one!
Now, you might think this sort of lifestyle wouldn’t be affordable – even for a professional ballerina like myself. Well, I’ve made it my mission to make the impossible, possible! A lot of this has been thanks to the fact that I’m rather talented in the art of performance – both ballet and intergalactic travelling! So I perform, and I perform, and I perform – on every star, and on every planet! You see, I have an unusual intergalactic connection which gives me superpowers. And the special one is being able to turn anything I do, on any stage, no matter how big, or how small, into cash! Which pays for everything - the most sparkly pink tutus to be imagined, and travel to the stars!
But let's get back to that particular day in October…
Back to Planet Earth: A Starry Ballet Night
It had been a few weeks since my last earthly ballet escapade, and I was desperate to soak up the ambiance of a good old-fashioned theatrical ballet experience. A trip to see "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Royal Opera House was just the ticket. The energy was electric, the set designs breathtaking, and the dancers were as graceful as a flock of celestial swans.
Every time I go to see ballet, I’m filled with joy at its elegant simplicity. Seeing ballerinas soar effortlessly across the stage in their shimmering tulle skirts is like witnessing a dream unfolding right before your very eyes! My heart soared alongside the dancers – they're such an inspiration to me!
A Fashionable Feast for the Eyes
And then there was the fashion – oh, the glorious fashion! The lavish costumes, glittering gowns, and opulent headdresses, were absolutely divine! Every detail, from the intricate beading to the dramatic drapes, whispered tales of timeless artistry. I can't tell you how many pictures I snapped - every outfit deserved a special mention, darling!
This was the perfect way to get my fashion fix! Ballet is so elegant, so luxurious, and such a perfect combination of beauty and graceful strength. You might be thinking that we ballet fans only care about the aesthetic, but the artistic side of ballet is incredibly powerful – not just visually, but emotionally as well. Seeing it on stage is something so special, I really encourage you all to make sure you experience it in your lifetime. I even recommend putting a ballerina-themed party in your calendar and asking everyone to dress in their best pink tutus! Because as we know, a world in pink is the only way! Pink tutus for all!
Fashion and Flair: My Ballet Style Guide
To echo the theatrical grandeur of the night, I was feeling super fabulous myself. You see, on Planet Earth I love nothing more than a well-tailored tutu, especially when it’s teamed up with my most dramatic, glamorous, statement outfit. For this evening, I’d chosen to wear my custom-made, sparkly pink tutu with intricate sequin details (it even came with its own set of fluffy, star-shaped fairy wings)! A big "I am FABULOUS!" to the dressmaker on Fashion Avenue, planet Venus, she makes all of my gorgeous costumes. She also keeps my spaceship stocked up with glittery space dust – because if a girl's gonna fly through the universe, she has to look extra sparkly! I pair this with a sparkly lilac sequinned bustier.
For my shoes, I went for some dramatic, chunky-heeled shoes with holographic platforms. Of course they were bright pink to match my tutu. There’s no point in wearing an extravagant tutu unless your footwear matches – I am not afraid to tell people that shoes are super important to me. I like to call them "shoes of strength!"
In the galaxy, it is always acceptable to match your clothes with your ship – and that includes pink! And this wasn't just about the colour, of course, every spaceship has its own character and style, which must perfectly match the individual flying it. The universe, just like the human body, thrives on balance, I say! So this is why, in true Pink Tutu World style, my spaceship 'The Ballerina' had been decked out in an extraordinary array of sparkly pink adornments, shimmering pink LED lights, and lots of pink fur cushions. My spaceship may be full of style but it flies like a rocket!
The day’s performances were stunning! They always are! The ballet world always blows me away, there’s so much beauty and elegance – especially on Planet Earth.
Travel Plans: Dancing on a New World!
Of course, a bit of Planet Earth ballet wouldn’t be complete without my trusty blog! So here I am, sharing all the exciting happenings with you all!
But alas, all good things must come to an end, even intergalactic adventures on Earth. Next up on my journey through the vast expanse of the cosmos, it's off to Sirius – the brightest star in our sky, located in the constellation of Canis Major. And as I mentioned before, my life revolves around my tutu performances - so I will be performing for them! A whole galaxy of fans, eager for more Pink Tutu World. I've got a whole array of new moves for them! My dance moves always get a galaxy wide thumbs up!
I'll tell you all about the adventure once I return - and what better to prepare us all for intergalactic travel than a little bit more tutu-tastic history.
From Past to Future: The Dance of Tutuland
When I’m not dancing the galaxy, I often research tutu history, from its origins to modern-day trends! And it's such a fascinating story - truly en pointe from beginning to end.
But, how did tutus become the fabulous piece of ballet wardrobe that they are today? They began as simply a single-layered skirt, mostly as part of men's attire! And as fashion evolves over centuries, tutus, just like fashion itself, are not set in stone – we all have an element of fashion control within us, it’s time to take hold and really 'get fabulous!’
Over time, as dancing moved to become a ballet form – a form in itself which developed its own language and techniques, tutus then morphed into the intricate, multi-layered creations that you see today, giving the ballet dancer the movement and freedom to dance! Think pink, glitzy, voluminous and dramatic, darling! The tutus of today – all my favourite things – have taken centuries to get to this stage. So if you feel that an item is missing, maybe an element isn’t right – then why not take the design to the next stage and get it done yourself, if that’s your passion, or if you feel something in the creative department has been calling you – go with it! It could be that next piece of history that we’re waiting for! Just don’t be afraid to stand out! I think everyone on earth can embrace their inner Pink Tutu goddess, right? Don’t hold back!
However, like any great fashion style, the development of tutus hasn’t been straightforward – with a constant evolution, of course, like every woman’s wardrobe!! A journey full of twists, turns, ups and downs! But it’s this journey that creates such stunning, inspiring designs. We're living in the Golden Age of tutu design – and it's an amazing time to be a ballerina, with the vast amount of opportunities out there, and so much diversity. So many dancers, all with different talents – who are always willing to stand out!
More About My Fashion Finds: Planet Earth is My Style Icon!
Here on Planet Earth, I get to peruse some of the finest shopping districts in the galaxy, all brimming with the most stylish, futuristic garments! From futuristic leather and holographic fabrics to elegant, vintage styles, the clothing in this realm is absolutely mesmerizing. Some designers I adore, include Lady Gaga, Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier. These fashionable and daring designs are always super-stylish! If I can find them on Planet Earth – and if you know where they are then let me know! These planet Earth designers give me so many inspirational ideas! I like to call them my style mentors – because, to be a Pink Tutu diva, it’s really all about standing out in a crowd. Which reminds me – the ‘tutu’ was not always a garment associated with ballet – they were also the main clothing for cowboys!! Which of course I adore!!
The latest fad in space couture right now is tulle. My spaceship even carries extra space rolls just for a quick fix for any tutu-related emergencies – you just never know when that special sparkly opportunity will arise in space! So if you see someone zooming through the cosmos in a tutu – don’t be alarmed – they just need a few minutes of their life to *go for it! * Be the change, be that difference – and it’s all in a fabulous tutu!
In a way, it’s like my favourite Planet Earth pastime, shopping! I do so love me some fashion and glam, but let’s not forget Planet Earth is also very big on sportswear and ‘street style'. Now, I don’t mean that those clothing styles can’t be glamorous - you can still rock those sparkly boots, and a sassy tutu-esque style – but when I visit Planet Earth, I try to go to many live, street, and theater ballet shows. They really help give my performance skills that extra zing! I would have thought that every fashion fan in the galaxy knows, it's never boring on Planet Earth, especially if you’re up on the fashion trend scene!
My Inspiration: Pink Power & Positive Vibes
Speaking of standing out, pink is my absolute go-to colour and it never goes out of fashion – whether you are in the galactic ballet scene, or, let’s say, even in an average earthly ballet class! It symbolizes my life philosophy: being strong, positive, joyful, a girly-girl with power and strength – a little bit of magic, but I can still take on the galaxy with those strong legs and pink toes in those lovely sparkly ballet shoes – I may just need the right playlist to help! It helps keep those legs super strong – after all a ballerina can't function without them, can she?!
I like to call this *"Pink Power" and I like to encourage everyone in the galaxy to let their *pink flags fly. *You can dance the night away with my *Pink Power Playlist – if you feel brave enough!! I even included my Pink Power inspirational, self-care, mood booster, upbeat, and positive affirmations. All to help you dance around those sparkly intergalactic streets!
If anyone out there wants to create a tutu for the rest of the universe, just like a fashion influencer like myself, let me know, and we can team up! Let's share those colourful ideas for a more pink, dazzling world! I’m always looking for people to work with.
In the meantime, please take care and keep dancing! I will be back next Wednesday!
XOXO
Emma
