Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth (Post #1311)

Hello my dearest Tutu-loving darlings! It’s Wednesday, the 10th of June, and you know what that means... a brand new blog post from your favourite intergalactic ballerina, Emma! 🩰✨

This week, I’m back on Planet Earth after an absolutely fabulous jaunt through the Orion nebula – can you believe it's actually pink? Just like my favourite tutus! My space travels are all funded through my ballet performances, of course. As any self-respecting tutu-wearing traveller knows, a little glitz and glamour is required to reach the cosmos, so my schedule is pretty packed. But oh my darling, the experiences I have... well, they’re simply to die for!

This past weekend, I actually landed in Paris – a place where tutus are definitely not in short supply, I can tell you! Did I ever tell you about my trip to the Paris Opera House? They actually have this special archive for all of their gorgeous historical tutus. And not just any tutus darling, I’m talking about the originals – like, the first tutu ever worn on stage in 1830! Can you imagine, darling? The fabrics, the craftsmanship, it’s just chef’s kiss.

The French are definitely obsessed with their tutus, but did you know that the original concept of a “tutu” was actually born in Italy? Yep, you heard me right! Those sneaky Italians have a history of creating some of the most beautiful costumes in the world – and ballet has never been an exception.

But back to the Parisian adventure... we took a tour through the ballet studios at the Opera and it was absolutely breathtaking! Those beautiful dancers all swirling around in their gorgeous pink and white tutus… It just reminded me of how lucky we are to have the art of ballet right here on Earth! 💖

This whole journey sparked a real desire to explore more about the history of ballet and its fascinating links with tutus, don’t you think? So I’m going to make that the topic for next week's post. I can't wait to share the details with you, because this history is far more fascinating than you could ever imagine!

But back to Planet Earth! This week, I had a delightful afternoon in Derbyshire, my beautiful hometown. We have some truly exceptional vintage shops, you know. I stumbled upon a perfectly divine lace and velvet tutu from the 1950s! It's absolutely stunning, just waiting for me to perform a breathtaking solo to Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata.” I have so many plans for that vintage gem! And since I love sharing, my darling, you just might see it in my next Instagram post. 😉

You’ve probably seen by now that my wardrobe is more than just a bit extensive – I actually do quite love clothes shopping! This week, my hunt for the perfect accessories took me to a wonderful antique store near Covent Garden, just a stone’s throw from London’s ballet centre! The treasures I unearthed were truly mind-blowing. Imagine, my dears, I discovered this pair of gorgeous silver and amethyst earrings that were designed specifically to complement the stunning sequined tutus made for a tour in the 1940s. Talk about an heirloom, eh? 💎✨

Oh, and while we're talking tutus… Did I mention that I'm absolutely in love with Ballet Street performance right now? They take the art of ballet to new heights, merging the classic with street culture, and their costumes are… Well, let's just say, my favourite pink tutu might just be running for cover. 😅

Anyway, darling, I better get going, because there’s another ballet performance tonight. I need to pick out the perfect tutu, which is never a simple task, but luckily my travel bag has been meticulously packed with my favourites. Who knows, I might even see a little sparkle in the audience from an eager young dancer dreaming of pink tutus, intergalactic travel and maybe a little of my stardust, too! 🌟

Remember, darlings, there's nothing that can’t be achieved with a dash of sparkle and a fabulous pink tutu! I’m sure that I can spread a little bit of my pink tutu magic all over this magnificent universe, and you, my sweet readers, are along for the ride!

Until next Wednesday, darling, may all your tutus be fabulous! 💋

Love, Emma 💖 www.pink-tutu.com 💖
