Pink Tutu World Blog Post #1328: Ballet on Planet Earth (2020-10-07)

Hiya darlings! It's Emma, your friendly neighbourhood tutu-wearing space explorer, back from another intergalactic adventure. This week, I've been absolutely swamped with rehearsals, performances, and even a little bit of… shopping! wink wink It's a tough life, I know, but someone's got to do it!

Firstly, let's talk tutus. Today’s a special one. Did you know that October 7th is "International Tutu Day?" gasps dramatically That's right, my lovelies. We celebrate the glory of this magical garment every year. There's no better way to honour it than by spinning in the centre of the stage, or if you're anything like me, the nearest department store! 😉

So, where was I? Ah yes, this week’s adventure involved landing my spaceship in…wait for it… drumrollLondon! Oh, darling, the culture! The sights! The shops! I could’ve spent the whole trip lost in the dazzling array of vintage tutus in Soho. I had to pick up a few pieces for my personal collection. It's all about historical appreciation, you know, researching the evolution of the tutu from the early Romantic Ballet era to today's breathtaking contemporary styles. Plus, who wouldn't want to be the envy of every intergalactic fashion blogger with a tutu closet bigger than some of our planets!

Now, you know me. I wouldn't be myself if I didn't head straight for a ballet show, would I? This time, it was the exquisite Royal Ballet's production of Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House. Oh, darling! The grandeur! The artistry! The costumes! Each swirling tulle skirt was like a vision from a fairytale, each pointe shoe a masterpiece of delicate artistry. It left me mesmerised!

Then there was the performance. These ballerinas! They spun, they leaped, they expressed emotion through movement with a skill that simply took my breath away. It reminded me why I’m on this journey in the first place. To inspire, to empower, to spread the joy of ballet to every corner of the universe! And believe me, every single ballerina on that stage did exactly that.

Afterwards, I met with the most fantastic designer. We chatted all about tutu styles, and he even promised to design me a custom-made, out-of-this-world, pink creation! My dear readers, you're not going to believe what he had in mind. I can't spoil the surprise, but let's just say, it involves galaxy-printed tulle, star-shaped sequins, and... maybe a few extra-terrestrial elements for good measure. Oh, I'm so excited! And remember, darling, even out-of-this-world tutus need a perfect stage to shine!

Speaking of stages, after the Royal Ballet performance, I went to check out a ballet class in Regent’s Park. Such beautiful scenery for the ballet exercises. Imagine dancing under the London sunshine in a pink tutu. It would be perfect!

But here’s the thing, my dearest readers. While I love the glitter and glamour of stage shows, I also adore street dance, because let’s be real, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as seeing people enjoy ballet on an impromptu level, where anyone can be a star, right?! I met this fantastic group of London dancers. They’re just starting their careers. We had a blast, trying some steps together and sharing ideas. Let me tell you, my lovelies, if the passion is there, the skills will blossom! It’s amazing to see how people express their art in unique ways. It’s so refreshing! The key to finding your dance is being open to possibilities!

I've always loved being on the go and discovering new cultures, and this trip certainly didn't disappoint. From the opulent grace of the Royal Opera House to the bustling, artistic streets of Soho, every corner of London was an adventure. It reminded me of a scene from a beautiful, perfectly staged ballet – a little chaotic, yet filled with beauty and grace, waiting to be uncovered! London truly lives up to its reputation for being one of the most exciting cities in the universe!

I'll admit, after a day of dancing and shopping, even I need a moment to rest and reflect. After all, the most stylish ballet comes with a side of self-care, doesn't it? So, tonight I'm relaxing in a hot bubble bath, wearing a pink tutu, of course, with a cup of chamomile tea. As I gaze at the stars above, I can't help but think about how truly lucky I am to be on this journey, sharing my love for tutus and ballet with the entire universe!

If you're still on Earth and you haven't experienced the magic of ballet yet, I urge you to try it out! You never know – you might even discover your inner tutu-wearing ballerina! 🩰

Lots of love,

Emma
