Hello my lovelies, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World! It's your favourite Derbyshire ballerina, Emma, back with another interstellar blog post, straight from the bustling streets of…well, I'm actually in Paris today! It's simply divine!
So, what a whirlwind of a week it has been! Last week I was waltzing across the Martian plains (fabulous view from the red rocks!), and this week I’m strutting my stuff in the City of Lights!
Life as a space-age ballerina is hectic but gloriously sparkly. This week's adventures kicked off with an out-of-this-world ballet performance. I donned my most spectacular pink tutu, the one with the diamond embellishments - oh, you know the one! - and wowed the crowds with my routine. Let's just say, I think I inspired a few new spacefarers to sign up for ballet lessons!
You know what's funny? Sometimes people get a bit surprised by my passion for pink tutus and all things sparkly. They say, “Oh, Emma, it's a bit over-the-top, darling!”. And you know what I tell them? Ballet is all about the magic! The magic of artistry, of grace, and of self-expression. And a fabulous pink tutu? That just takes the magic to another level!
Right, on to my Paris adventures! Now, I can't talk about Paris without mentioning the clothes shopping. Let's just say, my luggage has gone a little heavy on this trip. (Let's not mention how many pairs of fabulous pink ballet shoes I managed to squeeze into my spaceship).
Speaking of fabulous pink shoes, I spotted a little vintage shop filled with old tutus! You would not believe the collection they had. Some were made of lace, some were hand-stitched silk, and there were even a few in vibrant turquoise. Honestly, my inner ballet historian went into overdrive. The history of the tutu! You know, it’s actually a pretty fascinating subject! There were tutus with layers and layers of fabric (more suited for waltzing than leaping, let me tell you!) and then the evolution towards lighter, less-layered versions (think Swan Lake) to show off the athleticism of the dancer!
Honestly, it was an overload of vintage ballet couture bliss. They say you can't truly appreciate the present without knowing your past, right? This shop gave me a wonderful perspective on the beauty and artistry that's gone into the evolution of the tutu.
Anyway, let’s move on to the star of my Parisian adventures – the Palais Garnier Opera House! I had to go. It’s such an icon of the ballet world! Did you know, this place is truly spectacular? Imagine a grand staircase so dazzling it would make Cinderella blush, chandeliers so ornate they could belong in a fairy tale, and enough gold to make a pirate faint. I actually teared up when I saw the magnificent gilded ceilings. I must have been born for the ballet.
Of course, a trip to the Palais Garnier wouldn't be complete without catching a show. This weekend, they're performing La Bayadère, a ballet so visually striking, it could leave you breathless! Honestly, just the costumes are enough to make you swoon – they're positively stunning, with intricate designs, sparkling embellishments, and of course, a beautiful symphony of colour.
I took inspiration from the costumes and I just had to whip up my own take on this La Bayadère look for Pink Tutu World. You can check it out on my social media! Trust me, it’s going to blow your mind (and inspire a few of my fellow intergalactic dancers)!
Remember, girls, you can channel your inner ballerina, regardless of your location or size. I hope my travels across the galaxy, whether it’s Mars, London or Paris, can show you that! You can have your own "pink tutu moment" everywhere, and that’s the magic of the universe – or just maybe the magic of Pink Tutu World!
Don't forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com next Wednesday for a new post! I’m going to be writing about the top three best outfits I found in the Paris vintage tutu shop and I think you'll be surprised about how well a turquoise tutu will look with the latest interstellar fashion!
And please, don’t forget to leave a comment below, tweet, like and share your favourite Pink Tutu moment, right here in this blog!
Until next time, darlings, be glamorous!
Much Love,
Emma
