Hello my dearest tutu-loving lovelies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another celestial twirl through my latest intergalactic escapades! 💖
This week I'm bringing you straight from Planet Earth, after a whirlwind tour of, well, Planet Earth! I know, I know, I've been a bit neglectful of my home planet lately, whizzing around the galaxy in my spaceship, but believe me, the dance bug has bitten hard!
As I'm writing this, the sun is just starting to set over the rolling Derbyshire hills. It's the kind of serene beauty that reminds me how lucky I am to have this amazing little corner of the universe as my home. I'm enjoying a pot of earl grey with a slice of homemade Victoria sponge, while catching up on the latest tutu news (more on that later!), and letting the gentle evening light wash over me. It’s pure bliss.
Before we jump into my Earthly exploits, let me just tell you, the tutu world is positively bubbling with excitement this week! There’s a new boutique in the Andromeda Galaxy, “The Twirling Tapestry”, boasting the most exquisite, shimmering galaxy-print tutus you ever did see. I hear rumours that they have an exclusive, limited-edition line with Swarovski crystals that changes colour according to your mood. My ship is booked!
But enough about faraway planets, for now! I am a bit of a homebody, and let me tell you, Planet Earth has so much to offer!
I decided to spend this week exploring some hidden gems right here on my own planet. And believe me, there is some serious ballet action happening! We all know the glitz and glam of the Bolshoi in Moscow, and the regal grandeur of the Royal Opera House in London, but Planet Earth has a myriad of beautifully quirky theatres, each with a story to tell.
For this week's journey, I made my way to the West End of London. London is the beating heart of theatre and musical production on Planet Earth.
If you follow me on the ‘Gram you know that London holds a very special place in my heart. The vibrant streets of Soho with its historic charm and lively energy never fails to inspire my creative side. And my beloved London ballet studio where I first discovered my love for the graceful art form. London has so many beautiful theatres, each holding a world of stories and theatrical history.
My first stop was at the Garrick Theatre. I saw the hilarious, poignant play ‘To Kill A Mockingbird', starring a charismatic cast and featuring the most enchanting performance of an old, worn ballet shoe - just look at the expression!
But even the West End’s dazzling shows, can’t compete with the magic of a ballet performance. My love for ballet stretches right back to childhood.
Every Wednesday after school, rain or shine, my Mum would drive me for my weekly ballet class at ‘The Dance Academy’ on Matlock Street in Derby. Back then I could never have imagined that ballet would one day take me to the far reaches of space! It wasn't always tutus and tights, it was learning the disciplines of ballet, the rigorous practice and the passion that allowed my love for ballet to grow. My love of ballet has carried me through my formative years, allowing me to discover a passion and joy I never imagined was possible.
But my week in London wasn’t just about ballet, oh no! As much as I love a good tutus and Tiaras affair, London has an array of beautiful stores! The shops here never fail to enchant me with the endless displays of sparkling shoes, luxurious accessories and stunning vintage finds.
My heart soared when I stumbled across “Ruby and Stella” in Notting Hill. It’s a vintage fashion haven, crammed with vintage and pre-loved gems from eras gone by. Imagine a treasure trove of hats, dresses, gloves, jewellery and so much more. I lost track of time. The shop was full of amazing treasures just waiting to be discovered!
Of course, a visit to the iconic Oxford Street wouldn’t be complete without a visit to ‘The British Museum’, I adore the museum, there are stories woven into the fabric of every exhibit - a kaleidoscope of history!
Planet Earth may be a small blip on the vast galactic canvas, but I'm always discovering something new!
Before we part ways for this week, I just wanted to remind you all - keep twirling! It’s not about perfection. It's about the joy of dancing, expressing yourself, finding your own unique rhythm and grace, and reminding everyone that it's OK to be bold, to be adventurous and to just enjoy yourself! Don’t be afraid to embrace the world in your own special way - a world where pink tutus reign supreme!
Until next week, keep it glittery and glamorous, darlings! ✨
P.S. This Friday (June 24th, 2026) is the annual “The Twirling Festival” on Planet Earth. It's a day where everyone, regardless of age or experience, takes to the streets for an afternoon of fun, fabulous, community dance performances! Don your brightest, sparkliest tutus and be part of the celebration!
XOXO
Emma
