Friday 2025-05-23
Hello, my darling dears! Emma here, and this week, I’m hopping aboard the Pink Tutu Express (that’s right, it's the name I’ve given to my train!), and we're heading straight to the glorious city of London! Every week I like to explore somewhere new and inspire you to join the Pink Tutu revolution! Let’s be honest, a life lived in grey is not a life lived to its fullest. This Friday, it's time to unleash our inner colour and sparkle in the city. So buckle up, dear friends, we’re off to conquer the streets of London with a tutu and a whole lot of pink!
My mission? To bring the pink tutu magic to the heart of London, of course! I know some of you are still a little shy about wearing tutus - but honestly, what is life without a little twirl?
Journey of a Thousand TwirlsThis Friday morning, the Pink Tutu Express set off from Derby with a grand total of five other fellow passengers – a couple on their honeymoon, a dapper gentleman in a perfectly fitted tweed jacket (he’d be perfect for a London Street fashion blog!), and two youngsters on their way to the British Museum. It was like a mini fashion show on board the train. They’ll probably never guess they sparked some blog-worthy thoughts!
It’s been a while since I’ve hopped on a train journey – I just adore those train windows where I can people-watch and take in the ever-changing landscape. It's almost hypnotic, and by the time we arrived in London, I was brimming with excitement and ready to conquer the city in my signature pink tutu.
Ballet for the SoulOf course, no trip to London is complete without a ballet show. I saw a performance at the Royal Opera House of the "The Sleeping Beauty". This one always transports me into a world of magic, where anything is possible! It reminded me how graceful, elegant and strong the ballet dancers were, and oh, how I miss dancing on stage myself! It makes my heart dance just to watch them! I’ll have to book some ballet classes myself very soon. (It wouldn't be Pink Tutu Blog without ballet!)
The Dance-Off in Covent Garden!
London's Covent Garden is just the perfect spot for an impromptu dance-off – who could resist a bit of pirouette or two? So many stunning buildings, charming nooks and, of course, tons of people. The vibe is so lively and free-spirited. It's impossible not to smile. I whipped out my little Pink Tutu kit (the best accessory for any ballerina on the go) – pink feather boa, a pair of bright pink gloves, and my sparkly, glittery pink tutus and it was showtime!
Fashion and Fabulous!
My quest for finding London's most gorgeous vintage pink outfits couldn't wait any longer! I absolutely love vintage fashion and I feel that the Pink Tutu aesthetic is totally inspired by that timeless elegance of bygone days. So I headed straight to Liberty’s Department Store on Regent Street – oh, what a dream of a place. Liberty’s had fabulously pastel vintage gowns, floral blouses with puff sleeves, and so many beautiful accessories – my heart skipped a beat.
As an aspiring ballet dancer, fashion means a lot to me. You just have to look glamorous and feel empowered! Who knows – maybe my blog posts could even inspire future ballet designers, don't you think?
Shopping Till We Drop!
Of course, you can’t visit London without shopping! My friend, Emma (we’re soul sisters!), met me on Oxford Street and together we did what every true fashionista dreams of! We explored all the vintage shops on Oxford Street, trying on funky pink accessories. I’m not sure about you but I love shopping and the adrenaline rush you get finding that one piece you've been searching for! Don’t worry, I’ve managed to snag a couple of cute new tutu additions, along with a pink polka-dotted dress with ruffled shoulders (simply perfect!) and some seriously glittery pink shoes (always need more glitter in my life!). We both have enough to get through the summer now!
Tea with a TwistAfter our retail therapy session, I was feeling absolutely peckish and craving some classic London treats. But let’s be real – a typical cuppa tea just won't cut it for Pink Tutu Blog! So Emma and I found a cafe on a cobbled backstreet with a hidden courtyard, and you know what? We ordered tea with tiny Pink Tutu cake pops! I almost cried! How perfectly delicious. Pink cakes in London! It doesn't get better than this, my friends.
The London EyeIt was time to head over to London’s most famous attraction – the London Eye! I have to admit, a little fear did creep in! Heights are my biggest weakness. But when your name is "Pink Tutu Emma," fear is simply a challenge to overcome.
To my delight, my worries flew away with the London pigeons! The view from the top was truly magnificent. London really did feel like a miniature toy city. So breathtaking.
It just made me reflect on what makes the pink tutu lifestyle so fabulous. I think it's that embracing the extraordinary within the ordinary, finding those little sparks of joy even amidst the daily grind. This is the true pink tutu philosophy.
Lights, Camera, Action!Evening in London meant that I just had to witness the beauty of a dazzling theatrical show. And it would not be Pink Tutu Blog if it wasn't something with the element of dance, of course.
That's when I discovered "The River Dance" playing at the Coliseum Theater in St Martin's Lane. It was spectacular! Such dynamic choreography and passionate music, showcasing all those amazing Irish folk dances. It's safe to say I was left in awe. So glad to have ticked it off my London bucket list.
And you know what – it really does make me feel like my life’s on stage too! So, as always, I’ve got plenty of pictures, which I'll share with you guys on PinkTutu.com in a flash.
The Tutu Time! And there it is! Another perfect day exploring London! Oh, my lovelies, this amazing city never fails to charm my socks (or my pink tutus) off. As I board the Pink Tutu Express home to Derbyshire this evening, I already know that my Pink Tutu spirit has soared a little bit higher than before!
I truly believe London has given me the inspiration to continue on my pink-tutu-clad journey, bringing joy and colour wherever I go.
And as always, I'll leave you with this question: what are YOUR favorite London memories and how did you embrace your inner pink?
See you next week, darlings!
Lots of love,
Emma
