Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #1523)

Hello my lovely Tutu-tastic readers! Emma here, your favourite ballerina-blogger, and I'm buzzing with excitement to share my London adventures with you all. As you know, I'm all about chasing my tutu-dreams and spreading a little pink joy wherever I go, and this week, the vibrant city of London has become my happy place.

This Friday morning, I swapped the quiet rolling hills of Derbyshire for the bustle of Euston Station. Nothing beats the thrill of a train journey. My sparkly pink backpack was brimming with outfit changes and a suitcase packed with enough pink tulle to set London on fire! I even squeezed in my trusty pink ballet shoes for a quick practice in the carriage – a girl's gotta stay limber!

The train journey was an absolute delight. London just seems to hold a magical charm for me, It was filled with excited chatter from fellow passengers heading to their own weekend adventures. I found myself exchanging smiles and whispers about the "magical" (a word I like to over-use) sights we'd all be witnessing soon! I even spied a little girl dressed up as a ballerina, making my heart melt!

And then, in a flash of purple (well, actually it was probably blue, but London has such an air of enchantment, it always looks purple to me) we were arriving at King's Cross St Pancras. Time for some proper exploring!

My mission today? To see the London Eye with its stunning views across the city, find the perfect pink ballet outfit for my upcoming performance (we're performing "The Nutcracker" - oh my gosh, it's going to be phenomenal!). And, of course, to add a few pink touches to London's already colourful street scene. I'm dreaming of a world where everyone, from businessmen to schoolgirls, joins in my Tutu-Tastic mission! Just imagine the possibilities!

First stop: The London Eye.

My first challenge? Navigating the throngs of tourists in Leicester Square, while making sure my twirls and pink tutu did not cause an obstruction. I am nothing if not graceful. Fortunately, I managed to find the entrance to the London Eye with only one minor detour caused by an extremely polite (if slightly confused) street performer.

The queue was quite long, but thankfully I had brought my book about ballet fashion to keep me occupied. It's so inspiring seeing what my fellow ballerinas are creating these days. There were some amazing designs! I love the trend towards adding a touch of pink (it's my favourite colour, in case you hadn't noticed!). And then, the big moment - the ascent!

Looking out across London was pure magic. I was surrounded by majestic buildings and twinkling river reflections. A little pink-tinted bubble seemed to be floating above my head, the same bubble I feel when I am performing on stage! The whole scene felt like it belonged to a ballerina’s fairy tale – and honestly, that's how I live my life!

Shopping Spree: A pink tutu wonderland!

Feeling thoroughly inspired by London's sights, it was time to shop for that "Nutcracker" performance outfit! My usual place is in Derby, but this trip was the perfect excuse to hunt for something unique and dazzling in the city!

I hopped on the London Underground (and I have to say, the pink-line makes travelling a joy! I'm obsessed with that pink! ). Next stop: Covent Garden! It's my favourite place in London - just a symphony of street performers, bustling cafes, and an atmosphere so lively it practically tingles!

My eyes widened in wonder. This beautiful market was overflowing with all sorts of vintage finds. There were layers of frills and lace that begged to be spun and twirled. My heart beat a bit faster, I had an idea in my head for a very special "Nutcracker" tutu, but nothing quite said “Emma’s dream” until I walked into one store called "Thread of Dreams." It was almost as if fate was directing my feet there. And there it was - a symphony of fabrics that brought my vision to life - silk tulle in soft shades of peach and apricot with a touch of silver, a touch of vintage lace, and a whole lot of sparkle!

I spent an entire afternoon lost in the world of fabrics and fashion, sketching out the tutu in my little notebook. Hours passed by in a flash. The magic of Covent Garden works its way into my soul every single time!

A Ballet Show Under the Stars.

As evening settled over the city, I made my way to the Theatre Royal, It was the perfect setting for an evening at the ballet. It's always a wonderful treat, especially on a Friday! Today I was indulging in my favourite tradition - watching a "Cinderella" show. Oh, those iconic slippers and the dreamy dances. Just everything about Cinderella! It transported me to my own "ballet dreams" where pumpkins turn into magical carriages and the “happily ever after” always leaves you feeling warm inside!

I caught myself whispering to my pink backpack about all the intricate moves. I can't help but become fully engrossed in the dancing. My heart filled with so much inspiration. Just look out for that "Nutcracker" tutu because it’s about to steal the show with every leap and pirouette.

Back in Derby, With Pink Tutus and Full of Memories.

Leaving London was bittersweet. It’s amazing how that magical, whirlwind energy of London always manages to infuse me with fresh creative ideas and just plain happiness.

And now, the quiet rolling hills of Derbyshire call to me again. The tutu-loving magic of London will always be within me, and my ballet bag now boasts a very special “Cinderella inspired” tutu with its pink magic ready to shine on the Derby stage!

Next week, it's all about my “Nutcracker” performance – which will feature my very special tutu design, naturally.

So, keep following www.pink-tutu.com for all the latest fashion updates and, most importantly, don’t forget to add a little bit of pink tutu into your own lives! It really does make the world a more delightful place.

Until next week, Emma xo
