Hello darlings! Welcome back to the Pink Tutu Blog! It's Friday again, which means it's time for a little London escapade! 🩰 This week, I took a whirlwind trip to the Big Smoke by train. Honestly, there's something so magical about zipping through the English countryside and arriving in London, feeling the buzz of excitement in the air.
Speaking of excitement, London's always a treat! My pink tutu and I felt right at home amongst the chic, stylish people and bustling streets. I swear, you just can't beat London for inspiration – it's a feast for the senses, from the beautiful architecture to the delicious smells wafting from cafes and restaurants. Plus, London's theatre scene is a must for any ballerina, and I always get so much inspiration from seeing the most talented dancers take the stage.
Friday's Itinerary:
So, let's get to the nitty-gritty. Today's adventure took me to the vibrant heart of London, with a few essential pit-stops:
Morning:
Arrival: My train arrived promptly at Euston Station, the platform filled with a sea of suitcases, briefcases, and eager faces – a fantastic blend of commuters and visitors.
Morning Coffee and A View: I knew just the spot for my morning caffeine fix. My favourite, little pink cafe nestled within a courtyard near the British Museum. They have the best rose latte and an amazing view of the towering building across the street!
Culture and Curiosity: After my coffee, I spent the morning exploring the British Museum, always a source of fascinating artefacts and incredible stories from history. The Egyptian galleries are my favourite – something about ancient hieroglyphs just mesmerizes me!
Lunchtime:
- London's Best Sandwich Shop: Okay, no trip to London is complete without a visit to a real sandwich shop, not a chain. I discovered this little gem in Covent Garden called 'The Deli Queen', where the aroma of freshly baked bread and a plethora of mouthwatering ingredients made choosing just one filling incredibly tough.
Afternoon:
Ballet Class Inspiration: London's renowned dance schools are always an excellent source of inspiration for any dancer, and today was no exception. I joined an afternoon ballet class at the illustrious Royal Ballet School. Just watching the way those young dancers moved – so light, so graceful – gave me a new appreciation for technique and artistry.
Fashion Therapy in Bloomsbury: Bloomsbury is such a stylish neighbourhood, especially for those seeking a more eclectic and individualistic approach to fashion. My love of bold colours and prints felt right at home here. I picked up the perfect shade of coral satin at a vintage clothing store for my next performance! The shop owner, a former ballerina herself, gave me excellent advice on crafting a look with a piece from their vintage collection, something unique.
A Night of Theatre: No London trip would be complete without an incredible theatre experience! Tonight, it was a show by the brilliant Sadler's Wells ballet company, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Their performance was so captivating – it had the perfect blend of drama, dance, and whimsical storytelling.
Evening:
- Post-Performance Dinner: A special evening definitely calls for a special dinner, and I was feeling incredibly inspired after the ballet performance! The atmosphere in Soho was vibrant with artists and theatre lovers. My friend, Emma, a fellow dancer and fashion designer, had chosen a fantastic little Italian restaurant for us to unwind and celebrate.
Reflections:
This trip was absolutely exhilarating! London is a constant source of inspiration and creativity, from the breathtaking theatre productions and incredible dance schools to the diverse fashion boutiques and lively atmosphere of its charming neighbourhoods.
