Hello, darling darlings! It's Emma here, and the wind is swirling my pink tutu right now as I touch down in London for another glorious weekend of adventures. I swear, sometimes I think I'm destined to be a ballerina in a perpetual state of travel, fuelled by the thrill of the city and the twirls of a well-executed pirouette. This Friday is going to be packed with a little bit of everything, because London's like a giant box of bonbons, waiting to be unboxed and savoured!
But before we get to the sugary goodness, a little chat about the journey, shall we? Oh, how I adore the train! The rhythmic chugging, the quiet swish of the scenery whizzing by, the chance to indulge in a spot of writing… It’s pure magic. Today, it was a picturesque, sun-dappled journey from Derbyshire, which I confess is a little bit less magical than when I have my fellow dancers sharing a carriage for a long weekend away, but equally pleasant nonetheless!
Now, speaking of dancers, this weekend is all about the ballets and the shows! London is buzzing with a theatrical energy, a beautiful symphony of movement, stories, and colour, and I wouldn't have it any other way! The programme this week is bursting with exciting titles and phenomenal performers. We have everything from the timeless grace of Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House to the modern artistry of The Firebird at the Barbican, a smorgasbord of dance delights, all within my little pink tutu's reach.
Speaking of my little pink tutu… my latest creation is a symphony of satin, tulle and…well, you’ll just have to wait until next week for a little glimpse of that one! But I will tell you this, my loves, a vibrant pink that matches my own fiery enthusiasm for the day. Just like the colour itself, I'm determined to inject a little fun and whimsy into everything, turning London into my very own twirling playground.
Of course, no London escapade is complete without a dose of fashion, is it? I have a rather lovely list of shops I intend to conquer - we're talking those iconic London boutiques, overflowing with decadent silk dresses, bold hats, and statement jewellery! It wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu blog post without a little splash of “pinkness”, so naturally, the boutiques I'll be browsing are going to be ones famous for their incredible pinks. From pastel pinks and bubblegum hues, to bold hot pink accents and everything in between! You can't resist a good pink, can you? I always find that even the smallest pink touch can turn an outfit into an unforgettable spectacle.
Oh, the thrill of the city is already working its magic on me, sending little butterflies fluttering in my tummy! This Friday’s itinerary is like a ballet in itself, all grace and carefully timed movements. First on the list - I shall begin with a morning at the Victoria & Albert Museum. You wouldn't believe how often I see amazing patterns and designs that are absolutely perfect for pink tutu inspirations! It's also a fantastic spot for people-watching. You know I can't resist watching how different people express their personalities through fashion.
I've booked myself into one of London's most charming little cafes after that, to fuel up on a spot of afternoon tea! This week, it's the Tea Terrace at The Berkeley. It's all dainty finger sandwiches, delicate cakes and, of course, a perfectly brewed cup of Earl Grey. The scones… let’s not get started on the scones. I love the way these places have the prettiest decorations. The pink-hued interiors of a certain high-tea establishment is perfect inspiration for some pink tutu planning too!
After tea, the stage is set for some theatrical magic! This evening, the Royal Opera House will be filled with the sweeping romance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake! Can't wait to lose myself in the beautiful dance choreography! You simply have to experience the breathtaking grace of ballerinas pirouetting and leaps that take you to the heavens. It is an utter spectacle to witness and the excitement and energy in the theater are utterly contagious!
But, there's no chance of getting overtired this evening, as I have planned an evening to unwind at the luxurious Savoy Hotel for cocktails. Nothing says 'London adventure' quite like enjoying a glass of fizz under the glittering chandeliers! This weekend, I have an evening dress ready for a dash of glamour that might rival the sparkles of my favourite pink tutu. Maybe I can convince the bar to do a little pink tutu ballet for a final bow... just an idea...
Before I close for today's post, a reminder: I will be uploading photos to the website each evening! It's time for a reminder to everyone - I truly believe in the power of pink, so join me on my mission, dear friends, to make this world a little more pink, one tutu at a time!
Have a fabulous weekend and join me again next Friday for more adventures from London! Don't forget to share your own experiences in the comments - I adore hearing your tales too. Remember: stay glamorous, be kind to others and let's dance!
Much Love,
Emma xx
P.S. Did you catch my blog post about my pink tutu adventures last weekend in Paris? It's a little bit of magic, and the Frenchies really went wild for the pink tutus - we had some wonderful spontaneous street dances in the Jardin du Luxembourg!
