Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, and guess what? I'm in London!
I finally packed my bags, donned my most sparkly tutu, and hopped aboard the train from my home in Derbyshire. I simply love train journeys. Something about the rhythm of the tracks and the scenery whizzing by makes me feel so inspired!
Today's the big day, darlings! My first full day in the bustling heart of London, and oh, the possibilities! It feels like magic is just around the corner, waiting to be discovered. The energy in this city is positively intoxicating, don't you think?
Tutu-fied for London!
For my London adventure, I decided to go all out with a fabulous outfit:
- Tutu, darling, TUTU! I chose a light pink, billowing tulle creation that's perfect for swirling around all the famous landmarks. It’s got a hint of lavender shimmer and is adorned with delicate sequins, making it as dazzling as London itself!
- A splash of colour! I paired it with a soft, lavender cardigan – my favourite colour combo at the moment! It's all about contrasts, and this combination just screams 'London chic' to me.
- A touch of ballerina-me! Underneath the cardigan, I wore a silky white camisole – classic and comfy.
- Shoes, darling! As for shoes, I'm sporting my signature ballet pumps. These little beauties are perfect for strolling around the city without losing an ounce of elegance.
Ready for the day, I grabbed my trusty tote bag, packed with essentials: my trusty travel-sized ballet barre, a well-thumbed copy of "The Nutcracker", and a notepad for jotting down all my inspirational musings.
The Royal Opera House:
My first stop was the iconic Royal Opera House. What better place to begin a London adventure? This majestic building exudes grandeur and beauty. Just being in its shadow makes me feel like a ballerina in a fairytale.
The queue was rather long, but I quickly snagged a spot near the front thanks to a bit of ballerina-style queue-cutting charm. As I waited, I couldn't help but admire the costumes of those around me - every one of them an elaborate, whimsical work of art. It reminded me of how ballet and theatre costumes can tell such wonderful stories.
I can't tell you how excited I am to finally be inside! You can practically feel the history and passion radiating from these walls.
Behind the Curtain:
Before the performance, I took a guided tour backstage. You wouldn't believe the sheer amount of effort and teamwork that goes into making each performance happen! We went through dressing rooms that are just like the ones you see in my favourite ballets. There were stacks and stacks of shimmering costumes, sparkling shoes, and rows of wigs. Every single detail was perfect, and I could tell that each one was made with such care and love.
My absolute favourite part of the tour was the workshop. Here, we saw how props and sets are created. It was mesmerising watching the artisans work their magic on intricate sets that magically transport you to different worlds. I couldn't resist asking if I could try my hand at some scenic painting! I think I have a new creative passion – set design!
A Stunning Performance:
And then, the grand finale! I was fortunate enough to see "Giselle", a masterpiece of romantic ballet. The dancers were extraordinary – their movements were like poetry in motion. There were moments of exquisite grace, breathtaking power, and pure artistry that brought tears to my eyes.
And let’s talk costumes! "Giselle" is a feast for the eyes with a palette of light pinks and dreamy whites. It felt as though I was watching a living dream. I even got to see some incredible tutu work, including a shimmering white tutu that took my breath away with its exquisite embroidery.
Shopping Spree!
My legs may have been weary from all that dancing, but that couldn’t stop me from venturing into London's most glamorous shops. I simply couldn't leave without picking up some treasures to remember this unforgettable day.
First, a visit to Liberty London – a truly beautiful emporium of all things fashion! I was in heaven, browsing the rows upon rows of elegant fabrics. I knew I had to treat myself to a spool of lavender silk ribbon for my upcoming dance costume designs! It's going to be perfect for a romantic ballet routine,
Then it was on to Liberty’s renowned shoe department – my personal weakness! I found a pair of blush-pink ballet slippers, which I couldn't resist buying. A little London indulgence!
Finally, no trip to London is complete without a stop at Harrods, so I strolled through their fashion aisles, my eyes wide with wonder. Oh, the designer clothes and glamorous accessories! It truly was a feast for my fashion senses.
Fashion Inspiration!
Of course, I can’t resist the urge to document all of this on my Pink Tutu Blog. Today's London adventure has left me with so much inspiration! There are so many possibilities!
My latest muse – the iconic London red telephone box! So I’ve decided to make my own miniature tutu version to bring back to Derbyshire. And, of course, I have to get everyone to wear a miniature tutu red telephone box. Now there’s an idea!
Final Thoughts:
London, you have stolen my heart! From the grand buildings and mesmerising performances to the endless fashion and inspirational art, you truly are a city that never sleeps.
So, if you’re a fellow ballerina or simply someone who enjoys a bit of pink tutu-filled fun, put London on your must-visit list. And don’t forget to embrace the pink!

Saturday 2026-04-11
The next day in London and its time for some afternoon tea and a show! After all, it’s not London unless you indulge! I headed out, in a vibrant coral pink tutu with a pale blue floral lace trim. My friend Claire joined me in a delightful peach-colored ensemble - two princesses in a pink wonderland. It’s always a fabulous sight to see. We'll post photos on my Pink Tutu Instagram (@PinkTutuEmma). I think the colour combination was spot-on for this enchanting city.
We chose The Dorchester, an opulent establishment known for its delightful teas and afternoon-tea-themed Instagram-worthy shots, of course. I chose the traditional scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream with a refreshing fruit tea, while Claire went for the ‘afternoon tea cocktail.’
West End Splendor
In the afternoon, we caught a show on the West End. My favourite! London theater has always enchanted me! This weekend was "The Phantom of the Opera", my absolute favourite musical. The set and costumes were breathtaking – like stepping straight into a romantic novel. It felt truly magical.
The performance itself was brilliant! The Phantom's voice was hauntingly beautiful, and Christine Daae was ethereal and stunning, showcasing the emotion of this legendary performance with perfect elegance. And let's not forget those stunning chandelier drops - a true theatrical thrill! I love musicals and ballet for the storytelling – what wonderful ways to move audiences!
This week I saw both dance and theater at its best! The talent I saw from dancers, actors and musicians makes me feel as if my little ballerina heart will burst. The artistry in this city!
After our amazing day, it was time for the train ride home to Derbyshire.
Until Next Friday...
Remember, darling, embrace the pink! I am determined that the world will be full of tutus.
Join me next Friday as I share more London adventure stories,
Love, Emma
