Pink Tutu Blog London #1544: A Whirlwind Friday in the Big Smoke! 🩰💖

Hello darlings! Emma here, back from a glorious trip to the dazzling capital city of London! It’s Friday, the 3rd of April 2026, and my heart is still aflutter from all the wonderful adventures I had this week. Buckle up, lovelies, because this post is gonna be a doozy!

A Derbyshire Girl's Train Journey

First things first, I can't get over my epic train journey from Derbyshire. It's no secret I adore a good train trip – it’s the perfect time for admiring the countryside, writing in my little diary, and dreaming up future blog posts. Plus, there's something incredibly charming about the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels on the tracks, wouldn't you agree?

This time, though, I decided to jazz up the travel with a little fashion fun. My signature pink tutu was of course in tow, and to add a touch of London charm, I threw on a darling tweed jacket from a vintage shop back in Derby. I felt like a right mix of Derbyshire chic and London flair, a delightful little mashup. The other passengers certainly seemed to appreciate the sartorial spectacle. I swear I saw a few shy smiles and a couple of approving nods from the older gents. 😊

A Fashionista's Paradise: London Calls!

Stepping off the train into the heart of London was a thrill unlike any other! It’s always exciting for me, but especially so because London has been at the top of my must-visit list for months now! You see, I’m on a bit of a ballet and fashion bender, and I simply couldn't miss the chance to take in all the spectacular shows, breathtaking performances, and jaw-dropping shops that London has to offer.

Finding the Perfect Tutu (And Shoes to Match!)

My first order of business, naturally, was to hit the shops. And oh darling, London was positively bursting at the seams with fashion delights! It was like every store was whispering to me: "Pick me, Emma, pick me!" A tutu-lover's paradise, my darlings. The first place I ventured to was Liberty London. It's one of those legendary places that feels like you’ve stepped into a storybook. You’ll forgive me if my head spun from all the beautiful fabrics, and patterns, but my heart truly soared at the sight of the delicate and decadent fabrics! I knew right then that my future London tutus would be made from here. I nabbed the softest, prettiest baby pink chiffon to create the most elegant tulle skirt and gathered some ideas for embellishments. It will be perfect for an evening at the Royal Opera House! I just knew this skirt was the first step to adding even more pink tutus to the world! 💖

My mission didn’t end there, dear reader. I just had to find the most sensational ballet shoes to go with my new, London-inspired tutu. My dear friend Millie – who lives in a flat just off Baker Street – joined me for a tour of Covent Garden, with the goal of finding the absolute perfect pair for my dance-filled days in London. And we were successful! A sweet shop tucked away in a charming back alley housed a beautiful pair of satin shoes. Millie’s a shoe connoisseur herself (that girl’s got more pairs than I do! 😳) and I swear the woman could pick a winner from a million pairs of shoes. She saw them across the street, before we’d even stepped in the shop. I mean, she practically levitated towards them with her “They’re the ones” aura. Of course, with my new tutu, I had to have them! 💖💖

A Grand Day at the Royal Opera House

Later that day, Millie and I, resplendent in our latest tutu and shoe purchases, made our way to the glorious Royal Opera House for a magnificent production of Giselle. Oh, darlings, you should see the interior! I practically cried from sheer delight. Such grand decor and opulent, almost magical, details.

Seeing Giselle live was simply mesmerizing! The costumes, the dancers’ grace, the story, everything was flawless. The first act's gentle grace followed by the haunting and passionate second act had my heart pounding like a drum. It was truly a magical experience, one that made me feel as if I'd just stepped into one of those wonderful fairytales that I read as a girl. The whole theatre echoed with that certain energy that only a fantastic performance can evoke. My heart overflowed with joy. And a good dose of ballet envy, too. My darling Millie gave me an encouraging little smile during the performance, as if to say, “There’s still time!” Oh Millie, how she gets me! 😂

Later, we took a stroll through the bustling crowds and grabbed a celebratory cup of tea (with all the scones!) at the charming cafe called The Ivy.

Ballet and Street Art

London's got this incredible way of seamlessly weaving together old and new. That was evident on our next day, when Millie led me to the enchanting area of Shoreditch, one of those artsy, hip neighbourhoods buzzing with the creativity. And by that I mean, dear reader, we went in search of the street art scene! A world away from the stately Royal Opera House, it was such a whirlwind of colours, patterns, and art on the streets, and Millie knew all the coolest places to find hidden masterpieces. The street art in this neighbourhood is just amazing - you can’t miss the colours!

Our wanderings ended up taking us to a local arts centre where there was a live ballet performance of some student-led work by budding dancers. I am always incredibly touched by the youthful exuberance of talented students! They move so beautifully. They also do ballet to a modern soundtrack and one of them had adapted a scene from the Nutcracker that brought the house down! And when the ballet was finished, I knew I had to give them my best “keep-it-up” speech. I have an awful habit of talking to dancers about everything and nothing! 😅

Pink Tutu Blog is Spreading the Love (and Tutu Love!)

As I’m sure you’re well aware, it’s not only about the tutus – It's about spreading joy, positivity, and maybe a touch of glitter everywhere I go! Because I believe in the power of tutus to inspire, to bring joy to people's lives. And London, dear readers, truly lived up to that ideal! Whether it was admiring a breathtaking ballet performance, sharing laughter and dreams over tea and scones, or just catching the eye of a passerby as I waltzed along the cobblestone streets – London made me truly believe that every day is a new adventure waiting to happen.

I can't wait for my next trip back to London. I've already got a whole list of places to see, shows to attend, and of course, stores to raid for the perfect tutu!

Until then, be sure to follow me on the wonderful world of pink-tutu.com. I can’t wait to show you what my adventures hold. Oh, and one more thing! Let’s do a tutu challenge! This week, send in a photo of your most delightful outfit to my Instagram. It can be anything! As long as it's an outfit that you really feel wonderful in, something that makes you want to dance, a little bit of pink wouldn’t hurt! And maybe even a tutu. You never know, I might just feature you in the next Pink Tutu Blog post. 😉💖

Lots of Love, Emma x

P.S. Stay tuned next week, my lovelies, for another exciting entry! This week it’s the 4th of April so why not join me for a trip down to Kew Gardens to see the spectacular cherry blossom! See you there! 😉 💖
