Hello, darlings!
It's Emma here, and welcome back to Pink Tutu Blog! Today marks a special occasion: #1543, which feels almost unbelievable, given I started this blog back in... whispers ...2018! But we're here, celebrating our shared love of all things pink and twirly, and this week, we're whisked away to London, the beating heart of ballet!
My love affair with London goes back years - ever since I saw the exquisite costumes and masterful dancing at the Royal Opera House, I knew this city was a must for my #PinkTutuTravels. And this week, my darling tutus and I took to the train (yes, you guessed it, a beautiful cherry blossom pink carriage!) for a day of dancing, dining and discovering everything that makes London so special.
First stop? The Covent Garden Market. You simply can't explore London without taking in this lively hub of food, fashion, and frivolity. I was in my element, mesmerised by the bright colours, enticing smells and of course, the adorable boutiques!
My favourite finds? A pair of dainty ballerina flats, perfect for my London wanderings, in a shade of blush that would make a flamingo envious, and a hand-painted tote bag featuring a little ballerina twirling a bouquet of pink roses. Honestly, the artistry was breathtaking!
After my Covent Garden spree, it was time for a tea break (what else? It is England!). And where better than the quintessential afternoon tea experience at The Ritz? With its lavish interior and charming atmosphere, it's the perfect spot to indulge in delicate finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and, of course, endless pots of steaming tea.
And no London adventure is complete without a ballet performance. Luckily for me, a performance of Giselle was scheduled at the Sadler's Wells Theatre, a renowned ballet house with a contemporary and vibrant atmosphere. I had chosen this specific show for a special reason: it features my absolute favourite dance scene - a haunting, powerful pas de deux, performed by the male dancer in white, and the ballerina, her delicate white dress billowing with every turn and leap. Iโll admit, I shed a tear during that scene โ I find myself deeply moved by the raw emotions the dancers express through their art.
Later in the day, it was time to embrace the West End Theatre scene, a London must-do! And who could resist the vibrant world of 'Moulin Rouge!' The theatre truly felt alive with colour, song, and dazzling dance sequences. The energy was infectious, and for a moment, I felt like I was transported to a glittering cabaret world.
This vibrant trip reminded me why I fell in love with London - it's a city bursting with life, artistry and elegance. There is a place for everyone here, from theatre buffs to art lovers, and I have no doubt I'll be returning again very soon.
Speaking of return visits, remember that I will be sharing my new London finds on my website, www.pink-tutu.com! Look out for blog posts on must-visit spots for tea, fashion inspiration for London strolls, and reviews on the must-see theatre shows!
Until next time, remember, you can wear a tutu in London!
See you on Friday!
