Hello darlings!
This week's Pink Tutu adventure has me twirling through the glorious city of Milan! The air buzzes with the scent of espresso and fresh bread, and the streets are a kaleidoscope of fashion. Even the trams seem to be swaying in rhythm to a waltz – it's simply divine.
Now, as you all know, I've got a penchant for tutus (particularly those in shades of pink, obviously) but I confess that the tutu game is different in Milan. Here, the elegance is exquisite – it’s all about the perfect drape, the perfect detail, the perfect shade. Think graceful, timeless silhouettes in dreamy hues. So, naturally, I couldn't resist venturing into the glorious boutiques lining the Via Montenapoleone for a spot of tutu-related inspiration.
Let’s talk shops... and the Pink Tutu wardrobe
A woman’s shopping spirit knows no boundaries! Especially when there are incredible shops bursting with breathtaking gowns and a fabulous tutu, here or there, waiting for a perfect twirl. But before I lose myself completely in the shopping story, you simply must hear about my most fantastic find… the most magical tutu shop tucked away on Via della Spiga!
Stepping inside felt like stepping into a storybook. The windows were decorated with tulle clouds and velvet hearts, and the inside was just… dreamy! It was bursting with delicate chiffons, intricate laces, and of course, tutus in a rainbow of hues. I just couldn't resist adding a dusky pink tulle tutu with a delicate hand-beaded trim to my collection – oh, the sheer, breathtaking beauty of it all!
And speaking of beauty, Milan truly is a city where the air vibrates with glamour. There's just something in the air, the way the locals wear their clothes, the nonchalant grace they possess, it makes me feel like I could pirouette all day! It makes me want to whirl, twirl, and of course, embrace the pink!
Catching a performance... The Teatro alla Scala
I'd heard whisperings of this magnificent theatre in Milan and I just had to see it. My ballet-loving heart couldn't resist, especially as the programme this week featured a dazzling adaptation of Swan Lake, one of my all-time favourite ballets.
Imagine a stage bathed in glittering gold, plush velvet seats, and the most exquisite costumes you've ever seen, all topped off with a captivating performance that made my heart soar. I just wish you could feel the thrill of the applause, the anticipation in the air as the lights dimmed. It was truly an unforgettable night.
Onwards and upwards… on to the next adventure!
The week here in Milan is simply bursting with adventures, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me next. The vibrant food markets, the bustling fashion shows, the fascinating street performers... all part of the beautiful mosaic that is Milan.

Milan: A Dance of Delights
This vibrant metropolis is, for me, an intoxicating blend of chic and charm, all wrapped up in a tutu of culture. From the world-renowned fashion houses to the stunning architectural wonders, I feel like I'm perpetually twirling in a kaleidoscope of sensations. And what better way to explore the city than via its intricate tram network!
A little secret... The locals don't just use trams for commuting. I've seen them whizzing through the cobbled streets, all smiles and giggles, holding birthday parties on the platform! They've really mastered the art of embracing the fun and joie de vivre that Milan pulsates with.

My Top 3 Must-Dos for a Perfect Milan Day
- Take a Ride on the Tram: This might sound simple, but it’s a wonderfully authentic way to see the city! Feel the breeze as you glide through Milan's bustling heart, people-watch, and let your senses drink in the charm.
- Stroll through the Navigli: The historic canals are truly magical. The ancient brick archways, the charming little boutiques lining the waterways, it's like a page ripped out of a fairytale book.
- Indulge in Gelato: Now, every city in Italy boasts exceptional gelato, but in Milan, they simply go the extra mile! My recommendation? Try the gelato at the "Gelateria della Musica" – its heavenly flavour combos and vibrant atmosphere will leave you craving for more!
Food for the Soul and Stomach
The Milanese cuisine is all about comforting flavours. Rich, delicious dishes made with simple, fresh ingredients. It’s a true delight! The Arancini are a must-try – these bite-sized deep-fried rice balls filled with cheese and other tasty surprises will leave you wanting more.
Milan is not just about exquisite clothes and haute couture, it’s also a gastronomic haven!
And a Few More Twirls…
Speaking of beautiful things, a Sunday afternoon at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a real treat! With its magnificent stained glass dome and gleaming mosaics, this architectural gem is truly a masterpiece. There’s a whole world of boutiques waiting to be discovered, a coffee to be sipped, and countless corners to be explored – it's perfect for a leisurely stroll, a little people-watching, or simply a moment to bask in the luxurious beauty of Milan.
As the sun sets, a spectacular panorama from the Duomo awaits. This majestic Gothic cathedral offers breathtaking views across the city skyline. It’s the perfect place to let the day's wonders sink in and to reflect on all the twirls and giggles Milan has bestowed upon me.
Oh, and speaking of twirls, I simply had to visit the Teatro degli Arcimboldi! It's a theatre unlike any other! I can't quite explain it - the sheer beauty of the building is breathtaking. And while it might not be as grand as La Scala, there's a unique sense of intimate grandeur about this modern architectural wonder that makes you feel inspired and energised. I found myself wandering through its halls, lost in a daydream of stage lights, whispers of rehearsals, and the sweet, dusty scent of worn fabric – a sensory journey fit for a ballerina!
Finding Pink Inspiration in Every Corner
Even the parks are brimming with vibrant life and colour. Just imagine… emerald green trees, vibrant rose bushes, and manicured gardens adorned with sculptures and fountains, it's a dreamlike vision. There’s a hidden little cafe tucked away near the Giardini Pubblici, offering the most exquisite cakes and dainty teacups – it feels like something straight out of a storybook!
I know I mentioned fashion, and I can't leave Milan without saying a little more! Oh, the fashion in Milan – it's a symphony of colour, style, and pure extravagance. It’s in the way people walk, the clothes they wear, the way they accessorize. It’s everywhere! I can't resist a peek into a few boutiques, just for a glimpse into the magic of the Milanese fashion world.
And let’s be honest, what could be more fabulous than a Milanese Shopping Spree? From luxurious couture shops on the Via Montenapoleone to the independent boutiques tucked away in little backstreets, this city is a fashionista's dream come true. But my real discovery this week has been the "Emporio Armani" – a stunning emporium showcasing a truly breathtaking collection of Armani pieces, and the "Pinko" boutique, bursting with modern designs and elegant cuts… both leave you breathless.
*Oh, the magic of Milan! It's hard to know where to begin and where to end. It’s a city that invites you to get lost in its beauty, to fall in love with its quirks, and to explore its every corner, searching for that perfect shade of pink! And believe me, Milan has more shades of pink than you can imagine! *
I am off to embrace a final stroll through this beautiful city before I hop back on the train to the next exciting ballet performance, and another adventure.
