Pink Tutu Milan - Post 1658: Buongiorno, Bella Milano!

Oh, darling! How absolutely thrilling to be back in beautiful, bustling Milano! I can practically taste the espresso and hear the sweet sounds of opera drifting through the cobbled streets. As you all know, Milan holds a special place in my heart. It's the city of fashion, of style, of savoir-faire - and who better than a pink tutu-clad ballerina to embrace it all?

This week's Milan escapade is a whirlwind of ballet, shopping, and gelato (lots and lots of gelato!), all punctuated with the delightful chug-chug-chug of the Milan tram. Honestly, I love these tram rides. They're like miniature journeys into the heart of this vibrant city - windows open to catch the fresh air, the chatter of locals in the air, and the occasional glimpse of a stunning cathedral spire. It’s truly a sensory feast!

Now, I’ve arrived in Milan, my trusty pink tutu suitcase overflowing with outfits that will surely have me turning heads at every turn. This week's wardrobe theme is “Modern Renaissance”, and let me tell you, it’s all about flowing lines, shimmering silks, and just the tiniest touch of sparkle. I just know you're all going to adore this week's outfit posts!

A Milanese Ballet Debut

My first port of call was a performance at the Teatro alla Scala. What a magical place, just overflowing with history and exquisite craftsmanship! The ornate interior alone is enough to make you weak at the knees. I chose my shimmering lilac tutu with matching chiffon top - and naturally, pink shoes! I think the combination made me blend right in with the elegant atmosphere, don't you?

I was so excited to finally see Giselle on stage, the choreography just breathtaking! Giselle's delicate strength and unwavering love truly resonated with me - the story is as timeless and powerful as ever. The dancers were incredible - graceful, powerful, and expressive. Watching their fluidity of movement on stage left me inspired and buzzing with ideas. Perhaps I should try incorporating some elements of ballet into my own dance pieces...

Shopping Spree at Corso Buenos Aires

After the ballet, I headed to Corso Buenos Aires for a little retail therapy! This street is the shopping haven of Milan. I love the way the shops seamlessly weave into one another, a sea of clothing and shoes spilling out onto the pavement, it’s truly an experience. It's the place to find the perfect statement dress for a special occasion - or just a pair of stylish flats for an everyday chic look.

This week, my aim is to find a new pink tutu for my Milan ballet performance - I'm imagining a voluminous, tulle masterpiece, with maybe a little sequin embellishment. I also want to track down a stunning vintage kimono for the "Modern Renaissance" look. There are so many amazing boutiques here - they really are treasure troves of vintage treasures!

Charming Cafés & Street Performances

Speaking of treasure troves - the cafes in Milan are simply irresistible! One of my favourite things to do in Milan is to enjoy an afternoon cappuccino in a charming, quiet cafe with people-watching as a delicious side dish. And the street performers! Every corner seems to have its own symphony of talent - musicians strumming guitars, mime artists miming out their unique stories, and street dancers wowing with their vibrant, dynamic moves. It’s the perfect recipe for a day full of wonder and inspiration.

It’s my goal, you know, to have everyone around the world embracing the joy of the pink tutu. You’ve already seen the tutu take centre stage at Covent Garden, in Paris, and even the magical castles of Prague!
