Buongiorno, darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger, back from the glamorous city of Milan! And what a whirlwind week it has been – full of swirling tulle, vibrant colours, and more stylish looks than I could possibly count. As always, I’m ready to share all the sparkling details with you. So grab a cuppa, slip into your most comfy outfit (mine is a gorgeous baby pink cashmere jumper – what can I say, I’m a girl who loves her pinks!), and let’s dive right in!
This week’s #PinkTutuMilan journey began bright and early on Tuesday, with a clickety-clack on the familiar tram that took me to the heart of Milan. Did you know the trams here have these adorable little bell chimes? They just add to the charm, don’t you think? I popped by my favourite little boutique – tucked away on a side street and bursting with beautiful fabrics and patterns. You wouldn’t believe the incredible silk scarf I snagged – vibrant shades of azure and crimson, it practically screams “Italy!” The lovely lady at the shop even suggested pairing it with a floral headband, and oh my, gorgeous!
Tuesday evening was dedicated to ballet – where else, right? This week’s performance was at the Teatro alla Scala. I can't even begin to describe the majestic atmosphere; it's simply breathtaking! This evening's show was “La Fille Mal Gardée," a classic ballet comedy with such wonderfully energetic dancing! The costumes were stunning – think shimmering silks and delicate layers of tulle – and the whole thing left me feeling uplifted and joyful. There's truly nothing quite like the joy of seeing talented dancers bring a story to life on stage.
Wednesday brought sunshine and a trip to the beautiful Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli. These stunning gardens were truly the perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon. With sunshine streaming through the trees, I took out my favourite sketchpad and drew some beautiful details of the botanical wonders - from intricate flower arrangements to the whimsical marble statues. Milan truly is a city full of beauty!
The week's biggest surprise came on Thursday, at the Milan Fashion Week – an event that draws style icons and fashion enthusiasts from all over the globe. Yes, this pink-tutu-wearing girl actually attended! The energy was incredible, the catwalk displays breathtaking, and I can’t wait to share some of the fabulous looks I saw – you just have to see these gorgeous outfits.
And who knew there could be so much pink at Milan Fashion Week?! From the subtle pink shades in exquisite tailoring to the playful pinks on the vibrant evening gowns, my heart was skipping a beat!
Later that day, I found myself browsing through a charming vintage store in the heart of Brera. There's nothing quite like the thrill of uncovering hidden treasures – this time, it was a vintage lace shawl, perfect for adding a touch of romanticism to any outfit! Imagine pairing it with a chic black dress and a bright pink beret – a touch of elegance and whimsy, just for me!
Friday was about soaking up Milan's atmosphere – bustling streets, vibrant markets, and a truly unforgettable experience. I discovered a hidden gem of a restaurant, tucked away down a narrow cobblestone street. Imagine a charming, candle-lit atmosphere, delectable local dishes (pasta with truffle oil – absolute perfection!) and of course, a glass of delicious Italian wine. Pure magic, darling!
This morning (Saturday), I was back in my favourite ballet studio. I spent the morning perfecting my fouettés – I’m feeling quite graceful at the moment! And it's a good job too, as I've got a rather exciting performance coming up! On Friday evening I had the pleasure of performing in the stunning Piazza Duomo for the “Milan Fashion Week Afterparty”. It's an event where all the fashion houses and brands hold parties after the fashion shows - I was dancing alongside other ballerinas as guests partied with their champagnes and canapes - it was pretty fab!
Tomorrow I’m heading to the beautiful countryside surrounding Milan - can you guess what I'm planning on doing? Taking a class in a traditional Italian farmhouse studio, obviously! And, of course, wearing my best pink tutu – after all, how else could I show my love for dance and embrace the magic of this enchanting place?
Keep an eye out for my blog next week! I’ll be telling you all about my trip to a gorgeous lake in the north of Italy – did I tell you there were boats involved? It’s gonna be amazing!
And don't forget to check out my #PinkTutuMilan photos on Instagram! Let’s keep spreading the joy of ballet and pinks all over the world. Remember, darling – there's no dream too big for a pink tutu!
Lots of love and twirls,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
P.S. Do you have any exciting travel plans for the summer? I'd love to hear about them!
