It's Wednesday, and that means it's time for another fabulous Pink Tutu Milan adventure. As you all know, Milan is my ultimate fashion dreamland, but you'll also know that, even in a city like this, I never forget my ballerina roots. This week has been a whirlwind of swirling tulle, stunning shows, and of course, enough shopping to satisfy even the most discerning fashionista!
Let me paint you a picture. Picture, if you will, me, Emma, in my signature pink tutu (it's the dreamy shade of pink, you know, the one that whispers of bubblegum and sunsets!), happily twirling on a cobbled Milanese street. The air is filled with the joyous chirping of street performers, the delicious smell of freshly brewed espresso, and the unmistakable murmur of excited chatter in a language that feels both exotic and familiar. And you know what? That's pretty much the scene every single time I touch down in Milan!
This week, I took the journey from the magical Derbyshire countryside, where I've been busy with a series of captivating ballet performances that, let me tell you, have left the audience absolutely enthralled. But as soon as those final bows were taken, I was itching for the cosmopolitan bustle of Milan, its vibrant energy, and of course, the endless supply of amazing shops and galleries. And speaking of galleries, wouldn't you love to see my stunning collection of photographs from this trip, featuring all sorts of amazing pink tutus that I spotted all over Milan?
Getting to Milan in Style:
Now, some of you might be thinking, "Emma, how on earth do you get to Milan with such regularity?". Well, my lovelies, the answer is simple: hard work and a love for travel! My passion for ballet allows me to travel the world and experience the wonder of different cultures, and every trip fuels my blog, so it truly is a fulfilling circle.
And let's be honest, travelling in itself is a form of ballet. From the graceful twirling of the train as it navigates the Italian countryside to the rhythmic swaying of a tram as it zips through the bustling city centre, I see beauty in every movement. This week, I took the train, you know, those ones with the cute little compartments that feel so incredibly luxurious compared to a London Tube! But of course, my ultimate dream is to one day take a journey in the most amazing first-class cabin on a private jet... who knows, maybe one day I'll win the lottery! ?
Fashionable Fun in the Fashion Capital:
Once I arrived in Milan, the streets became my own personal fashion catwalk! You'll find me, always a little bit dramatic and certainly always in my signature pink tutu, weaving through the vibrant crowds, soaking up the energy of this incredibly fashionable city. From the sleek minimalist designs of the Via Montenapoleone to the quirky independent boutiques nestled in the less-known corners of the city, each store has its own unique charm.
Oh, my lovelies, let me tell you, I did so much shopping! You just can't resist a little retail therapy in Milan, can you? I picked up a stunning new pink top from the most wonderful little boutique in the Navigli district, complete with sequins and a ruffle at the neck - pure Milanese chic, if you ask me! And I found a pair of beautiful vintage pink ballerina shoes in the cutest antique shop. Now, they might not be real pointe shoes, but let me tell you, they'll do a perfectly good job of adding a little bit of twirl to my steps.
Ballet, Ballet, and More Ballet!
But you know what they say, "All work and no play makes Emma a dull girl!". So, of course, no trip to Milan would be complete without a trip to the ballet! And let me tell you, my darlings, this week was spectacular!
We're talking exquisite performances at the Teatro alla Scala, the iconic opera house that has been the stage for countless ballets and operas throughout its history. My heart skipped a beat the moment I stepped inside that beautiful, grand theatre, filled with such history and grandeur.
This week, the program featured a selection of modern works, full of innovative choreography, dazzling costumes, and captivating storylines. And as the music soared and the dancers glided across the stage, I felt transported into another world, completely absorbed in the storytelling and artistic beauty of their movements.
Pink Tutu Adventures in the City:
Oh, my lovelies, there were so many other magical moments on this Milanese adventure! I had the pleasure of watching street performances, from talented violinists to graceful jugglers, all captivating the crowds in the lively Piazza della Scala. You'll never find a city quite as passionate about art and creativity as Milan.
The streets are filled with an intoxicating buzz, the aroma of Italian pastries fills every corner, and you can't help but get caught up in the energy.
As always, I made sure to explore beyond the tourist hot spots, delving into the vibrant heart of the city and discovering hidden gems in the quieter districts. A local bakery tucked away in a side street with the most beautiful pistachio tarts...a charming cafe where the owner brewed me a pot of the most incredible coffee… I even had the most amazing pink gelato! It was, dare I say, pink-tastic! ?

This week in Milan, I felt that spirit all around. I spotted people in pink tops and dresses, a young girl in a pink tutu skipping along the pavement, a barista with a bright pink nail design - you can't deny that the colour pink is just radiating in Milan!
