Catching the Tram, A Ballet Enthusiast's Guide:
After my arrival, I made a beeline to the charming station near my hotel. You might think, 'How very boring, Emma.' Oh but darling, let me tell you, trams are an art form in themselves! They are an essential part of Milanese life – just like a ballerina's warm-up!
The moment I stepped onto the tram, it was like a ballet scene in motion. I’d already caught the eye of a stylish Milanese woman rocking a stunning blush pink dress and a matching wide-brimmed hat. She caught my eye as I hopped off and with a graceful swirl, I stepped out into the warm afternoon sun! How I love a city where every commute can be a performance!
A Tumbling Dance of Italian Delights:
Today was a delightful day of pure Italian immersion – shopping, naturally, is a key ingredient!
Imagine a Parisian chic boudoir in pastel pinks with a touch of decadent Italian charm. Yes, I am now the proud owner of two magnificent feather boas, one with delicate turquoise tones and another in a blush pink hue. They just scream "Italian Ballerina" don’t you think?
Next, a delicious "Gino" gelato was in order. A swirling blend of pistachio, vanilla, and hazelnut – so scrumptious, you could hear the music! I indulged in my cone on a cobbled street, serenaded by the sounds of laughter and the chatter of Italian children on their way to a nearby park.
Teatro Alla Scala – Ballet Magic!
Tonight, darling, was the main event – Teatro Alla Scala! Oh, the sheer grandeur of it all! You could literally feel the history in the air! It felt as if the spirits of legendary dancers from centuries past were cheering us on. The seats are plush velvet, adorned in gold accents - an elegant ballet costume in itself.
The ballet was breathtaking. They say Milan is home to some of the world’s most talented ballerinas, and the performance lived up to that reputation. It was 'La Fille Mal Gardée’ - and such an effervescent mix of light-hearted love and mischievousness, performed with masterful skill and beautiful artistry.
I felt like I was gliding across the stage alongside them. Even as the curtains fell and the audience rose to their feet, I found myself spinning with delight! And that, my dearest readers, is the magic of ballet. It moves us beyond the everyday and brings us closer to pure art.
My Milan Pink Tutu Challenge!
Have you seen the new shop fronts in Milan? I spotted one showcasing pastel-pink dresses with a chic Parisian vibe, just perfect for my ballet wardrobe! I love Milan so much because its full of colour and creativity. It feels like the ideal backdrop for my “Pink Tutu Challenge”. And yes, it is definitely about more than pink tutus… It’s a love letter to all things fashionable, stylish and fun. It’s about embracing every shade of the fabulousness that lies within you.

Explore the Duomo - it’s not just a masterpiece, but a ballet of stone and light.
Head to the Navigli – the canals of Milan. I can see myself floating through those streets in my pink tutu. Imagine – the gentle movement of a gondola and my tutu trailing in the water … so beautiful!
