Pink Tutu Milan: Post #1677 - Ciao Bella, Milan!

It's Wednesday, darling, and that means one thing: time for my weekly Pink Tutu Milan blog post! I'm currently sipping a frothy cappuccino in the most charming little café near the Duomo, sunshine streaming through the window and illuminating my brand-new pink satin tote bag (of course). This week's post is a bit of a love letter to Milan, a city that's already stolen a piece of my heart.

I arrived in Milan on Saturday, straight from a performance in Birmingham (more on that later, darlings!) and after a rather exhilarating train journey through the Italian countryside, I finally touched down in this glamorous city. You know, one of those train journeys where you get a window seat and watch the landscape rush past, dreaming of all the wonderful things you're going to see and do.

Milan has truly exceeded all expectations, even surpassing my own pink-tinted fantasies! Imagine: cobblestone streets, stunning architecture, hidden courtyards filled with vibrant flowers, and shops overflowing with the most incredible fashion (I just bought the most exquisite pink satin skirt with an incredible swish). You can practically feel the passion and energy buzzing through the air!

Ballet Adventures in Milan

Now, any of you lovely tutu-wearing darlings know that a trip to Milan wouldn't be complete without experiencing its thriving ballet scene. This city truly has it all! The Teatro alla Scala is legendary, with its elegant décor and rich history, and they're currently showcasing "Giselle" - I can't wait to see it. Imagine the intricate footwork, the delicate costumes, and the dramatic story. It just sounds incredible!

Of course, a good performance needs the right outfit, right? I'm feeling quite elegant in my newly purchased rose-coloured chiffon blouse and matching wide-brimmed hat. And what goes perfectly with that, you ask? Why, a delicate pink tutu, of course! I managed to sneak it into my luggage for a little evening ballet practice by the Duomo. Can you imagine the perfect spot? The sun setting behind the spires, my pink tulle twirling in the gentle breeze? Just divine!

A Culinary Adventure (with Pink Champagne)

Speaking of divine, darlings, we have to talk food! I've had some of the most incredible Italian cuisine in Milan - from juicy paninis in charming cafes to decadent tiramisu with lashings of espresso. And of course, no culinary journey is complete without a glass of pink champagne.

Today, I plan to have an elegant lunch at a little trattoria tucked away in a back street. I heard it has the best pizza in all of Milan (they have a special "pink peppercorn" pizza! gasps I just have to try it!).

Discovering Milan by Tram and Train

One thing I've noticed in Milan is how convenient their transportation is. This is a city you can truly explore by tram and train. I find it so relaxing to sit back, admire the street art, and let the city's rhythms take me on a new adventure. It reminds me a little bit of Derbyshire, where I'm from, only much more stylish!

On Saturday, I'm going to take a train to the quaint town of Bergamo. It's famous for its ancient walls, the Castello di San Vigilio, and breathtaking views from the upper town. Just imagine, sipping a coffee at an outdoor café, watching the sun set over the town while wearing a billowing, dusty rose pink dress and, of course, my favourite pink tulle ballerina slippers.

Street Performances and Unexpected Glamour

And for you lovers of all things ballet, Milan also has a vibrant street performance scene! Just the other day, I stumbled upon a group of talented street dancers performing in Piazza del Duomo. Their energy was contagious, and I couldn't help but join in for a little impromptu pirouette. It was pure joy, and just another reminder that ballet is a truly global language!

This evening, I plan to visit the Teatro degli Arcimboldi, a fascinating theatre complex dedicated to performing arts, from dance and theatre to opera. I can't wait to see the dazzling performances they have on offer, especially in such an impressive setting! I’ll tell you all about it next week, darlings!

A Dream of Pink Tutus and Inspiration

My trip to Milan is already a dream come true, a whirlwind of elegant architecture, captivating performances, delicious food, and, most importantly, lots and lots of pink! Milan inspires me to embrace all things bold and beautiful, to celebrate life with a touch of whimsy, and, of course, to spread the joy of ballet, one pink tutu at a time!

I've been getting so many amazing messages about the pink tutu movement. My mission to inspire people to step outside their comfort zones and embrace their inner ballerina has truly taken off, and I’m seeing pink tutus popping up everywhere! It’s been incredibly encouraging to see how the pink tutu has become a symbol of creativity, confidence, and joyful self-expression!

But, my darlings, don't take my word for it. Head over to our Pink Tutu community page and let me know if you have had any pink tutu experiences! You can tell me what’s inspiring you, or how the pink tutu movement has touched your life. Or tell me what colour you think looks best on you, I am always here for a pink conversation. I’m planning on doing a pink tutu challenge next month, so stay tuned for more exciting developments!

Now, I’m going to have another delicious coffee and watch the Milanese people rush by in their stylish ensembles, all the while dreaming up my next post for you lovely pink-loving ballet fans. Ciao bella, Milan!

Until next week, keep those tutus twirling!

XOXO

Emma
