Ciao bellas! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, back with another delightful slice of life from Milan, the fashion capital of the world. As you all know, my week begins in the glorious sunshine of Derbyshire, England, where I'm currently based. However, come Monday morning, my suitcase (packed with a healthy dose of pink tutus, of course!), my trusty travel card, and my adventurous spirit are ready to whisk me off to the vibrant heart of Italy!
Today, dear readers, I want to paint you a picture of the past few days. My Monday began with a delightful ride on the Milano Metro. It's the perfect opportunity for some people-watching and absorbing the city's infectious energy. This week's fashion finds were truly inspirational! Think classic Italian elegance, infused with a bold dash of colour and texture. And, yes, you guessed it, there were even a few pink tutus scattered among the stylish ensembles – I’m telling you, the trend is catching on!
My main mission, besides spreading the joy of pink tutus, was to catch the most fabulous ballet show the city had to offer. "Giselle" at La Scala, the Teatro alla Scala, no less! Now, I have to confess, it's not just the incredible dancing and breathtaking choreography that steals my heart. La Scala is truly an architectural marvel – ornate, majestic, and a testament to the Italian appreciation for artistic excellence. I mean, could they get any more beautiful?
My afternoon was all about indulging in the magic of Milano. The air hums with a blend of history, artistry, and the intoxicating scent of espresso. I'm a huge fan of the tram ride down Corso Vittorio Emanuele, with the stunning Duomo always lurking around the next corner. What can I say? This city has stolen a little bit of my heart – especially when the sun dips below the rooftops, turning the whole place into a magical golden city!
This week's ballet show left me absolutely mesmerized. I won't give away the details because I don't want to spoil the surprise for those who haven't seen it yet. But let me just say this – the final act left me gasping for breath, mesmerized by the power and grace of the dancers, and ready to break out into a spontaneous pirouette! I know, I know, my friends tease me for this – they think I should leave the dancing on stage, but they'll never take the tutus away from me!
Speaking of tutus, my trusty pink tutu came in handy for an impromptu photo shoot. Picture this: I’m in Piazza del Duomo, the sun reflecting off the majestic Duomo’s façade, and I’m spinning with a flourish in my bright pink tutu, a whimsical and unexpected dash of colour in this iconic setting! The photo captured the spirit of my Italian adventure perfectly.
But my day wasn’t all about tutus and glamour. No, no! I’m a woman of the people! This afternoon I met a group of lovely locals in a little café just off Via Torino. They were so intrigued by my pink tutu – and I must confess, I'm never quite sure how people will react when they see me in it – they weren't afraid to engage me in a lively conversation! We spoke about the world of ballet, Milan, and, naturally, pink tutus. They seemed a little unsure about them at first, but I swear, after about 15 minutes and some cheeky jokes, they were warming up to the idea of this pink tulle-wearing, tutu-spreading ballerina! Maybe they'll start embracing the pink tutu trend – who knows?! The pink tutu is like a butterfly, you just never know where it will land.
Dinner tonight was pure Italian bliss: homemade pasta, fresh tomatoes, a generous pour of wine, and a delicious tiramisu that sent me into dessert-induced coma. This is the real Milan, not the one on the billboards! I’m loving my little escapades in this Italian city. My days here are filled with fascinating encounters, exquisite meals, breathtaking scenery, and just the right amount of "Emma-inspired pink-tutu chaos"!
After a day spent soaking up the city’s vibrancy, the perfect end to my day was the beautiful Milan night sky, adorned with the twinkling lights of a thousand stars. I confess, my day was just the beginning, as tonight I'll be going to the theatre for a wonderful, magical, unforgettable performance!
You’ll all be wondering what I’ll be wearing. So there you have it! It’s a vintage tutu, you guys! The kind of tutu you imagine when you picture old ballet photographs, with a sweet little, but very slightly faded, pink shade! Now, I’m going to be in the company of these beautiful, talented dancers – I am completely blown away by the beauty of it all. Every graceful step is a story, a moment captured, a dance of expression. I don’t think I’ve ever been so enthralled and swept away by performance as this, I just can’t believe how beautiful this show was.
