Pink Tutu Milan: Post 1685 - Ciao Bella, Milano!

Wednesday, 2027-09-22

Buongiorno, my lovely ballet bunnies! It's your favourite Derbyshire-born, pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, writing to you live from the heart of Milan!

This week, I've been twirling my way through the cobbled streets, sipping cappuccinos (that are actually more like liquid clouds!), and breathing in the exquisite fashion energy of this iconic city. As you know, Milano is practically the fashion capital of the world. And trust me, there’s nothing that fuels my pink tutu soul quite like an excuse to get a little retail therapy – especially in Milan!

Let's get one thing straight - it's pink o'clock somewhere.

So, naturally, I started my week off right. A trip to the Pink Paradise boutique was in order. I discovered this little gem on a side street off Via Montenapoleone, nestled between a luxury shoe shop and a couture atelier. This is a treasure trove of all things pink – you name it, they’ve got it: shoes, dresses, hats, bags, and even those cute little pink phone cases I’m totally adding to my shopping list! I managed to resist a gorgeous pink feathered beret - just for now! - and instead, snagged myself the most delightful little vintage pink purse. It’s perfect for my ballet flats and my pink lipstick, obvs!

Oh, my gosh, have you seen these pink ballet flats? They are the absolute dream! So chic and sparkly, just perfect for prancing through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and getting that little bit of sparkle in my step! They have become my little talisman, good luck charm. Think pink, think lucky!

Speaking of shopping, did you see that extra stylish and sparkly pink tulle skirt I spotted in Dolce & Gabbana on Via della Spiga? It had little gold beads and an absolutely amazing ruffled trim – the perfect piece to give that extra "ooh la la" to my pink tutu outfits. I’m thinking about pairing it with a simple black camisole and some elegant black Mary Janes, just enough of a dash of "downtown chic" to pull off a very Milanese look! I will keep you updated on what I decided! I am in love with its potential. It will have me twirling like I am in an episode of “Modern Family” - that would be one of my dream performances.

But shopping isn't all I've been up to!

It wouldn’t be a real trip to Milan without experiencing the vibrant world of ballet! This city is brimming with talent and tradition. My Tuesday started with a ballet class at Teatro alla Scala. Yes, you heard that right, THE Teatro alla Scala! It was an honour to dance in such an iconic space. My fellow dancers were all top-notch – very precise, very graceful – you’d expect nothing less!

Later that day, I saw the most breathtaking performance at the Teatro Nazionale, a rendition of “Giselle” featuring an exceptional troupe of dancers from the Balletto di Milano. They told the story of this ethereal spirit through beautiful gestures, captivating footwork, and passionate movements – I could have sat there all night mesmerized. There was something truly magical about seeing “Giselle” on the stage, in the city of fashion, that just elevated it even further!

You’d think I was back in Derbyshire, the day ended in an absolute delight!

Just as my Derbyshire childhood, it finished with the sound of tinkling bells, in this instance of a tram ride back to my little apartment! Yes, there’s a vintage charm about Milan, especially in the early evenings, when the tram lights twinkle and the locals are all tucked up in cafes, enjoying delicious treats! You can almost hear them giggling together and whispering secret gossip… it’s a little bit like being in a fairytale – and that's totally my vibe, don’t you think?

Milan really is a city of wonder – from its grand cathedrals and ancient piazzas to its cutting-edge fashion houses and vibrant dance studios – it’s a place that inspires and thrills at every turn! But of course, none of this would be possible without all of you – my fabulous, stylish, and ever-supportive ballet bunny community!

I've got more fun adventures in store for you, and you know what I'm all about, right?! Sharing my passion for pink, fashion, and ballet with every single one of you, because I believe that every woman (and yes, man, too!) should embrace their inner ballerina, be brave, wear a pink tutu and feel confident. It's time to **rock those tutus and show the world that our dance is a story worth sharing. Let’s break down those barriers and spread the love for ballet together! Pink power!

*Let’s go dancing! See you next week! *

Lots of love,

Emma (AKA Pink Tutu Milano)
