Ciao Bella! It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind trip through the magnificent city of Milan, and this time, I've got a whole lotta pink tulle to share.
Weekends in Milan
So, you know how I told you about my new love for Italian tram rides last week? Well, this weekend was even more delicious. Not only did I manage to navigate the intricate web of Milan's trams (and trust me, it's a bit of a labyrinth) in my full-length tulle skirt (who needs a map, am I right?), but I stumbled upon a real gem – the tram stop near Piazza Castello. Let me tell you, folks, the street art in this part of town is enough to make any fashionista's heart skip a beat! And of course, my camera was clicking like mad. Every wall was a canvas, splashed with vibrant hues and creative interpretations.
Pink Tutu Power in Piazza Castello
As I sat on the tram, lost in my sketchbook, planning out a tutu-inspired graffiti art project (watch this space!), I saw a group of children performing some street ballet in Piazza Castello. It was an absolute delight! These little dancers were swirling and leaping through the square, and honestly, they brought the entire area to life. I swear, the vibrant energy in the square was like nothing I'd ever seen before, and the sun was making my pink tutu glow even brighter!
Ballet & Brunch: The Perfect Pairing
Later that afternoon, I found myself strolling through a lovely little market in the Navigli district. Milan's markets are absolutely enchanting! There are all kinds of handmade jewellery, delicious Italian pastries, colourful clothing, and even little boutiques selling vintage dance shoes! Imagine my delight when I spotted a gorgeous vintage tutu, adorned with delicate lace and delicate pink beads. I scooped it up as quickly as a ballerina takes a curtain call!
After my market visit, I treated myself to a divine brunch in a café in Brera. The cafe was like a scene out of a dream – rustic chic décor, beautifully presented pastries, and the most aromatic coffee I've ever smelled. And you know what? I even managed to convince the waiter to pose with me for a photo – my tutu made him smile! He thought it was pretty amazing that I'd travelled all the way from Derbyshire to Milan in a pink tutu.
A Ballet Journey at Teatro alla Scala
On Saturday evening, the real highlight of the trip unfolded: a breathtaking ballet performance at the Teatro alla Scala. I'll admit, it was a bit daunting walking into such a prestigious theatre, feeling slightly nervous in my bright pink tutu. But then, the orchestra began to play, the dancers took to the stage, and the whole experience took my breath away.
This wasn't just any ballet – this was the "La Sylphide", the first full-length ballet ever produced! And trust me, folks, this ballet lived up to all its historical hype. The dancers were spectacular, the costumes were exquisite (so much sparkle!), and the whole theatre felt alive with emotion. It was like stepping back in time, into a world of artistry, grace, and pure magic.
From the Stage to the Street: Milan Fashion Week
This week in Milan is all about fashion! From runway shows to street style, there's no escaping the energy and vibrancy of fashion week. As a self-proclaimed "pink tutu ambassador", I feel right at home in a city obsessed with creativity and expressing yourself through clothing.
My aim in Milan? To add a touch of tutued brilliance to every corner of the fashion world! You can find me popping up everywhere, from the front row at Gucci to the back of a Fiat 500 (yes, even with my tutu on, I fit!), trying to spread the joy of wearing something unique, something vibrant, and something truly magical.
Monday Muse: Ballet Inspiration & My Pink Tutu Plans
As you know, every week I devote Mondays to my "Pink Tutu Muses". This week, it’s none other than the talented British ballerina, [Name of a famous British ballerina], who recently performed with the English National Ballet. This incredible ballerina is a true inspiration. Not only is she exceptionally talented, but she's also passionate about bringing ballet to new audiences, which is something I completely resonate with.
In Derbyshire, we’re organising a ‘pink tutu’ flash mob at the [Name of a Derbyshire local ballet school/performance space] next week. We’re going to dance to [A famous song that is appropriate for a dance flash mob] – everyone’s been practicing hard! If you’re around, come join us!
Next week, I’m heading to Venice! Can you believe it?! I’ve dreamt of visiting Venice forever, so naturally, my first priority was to find a gorgeous gondola-style tutu (it’s a thing, you guys, trust me!). My tutu travel plan is a work in progress, but I’m envisioning gondola rides with a side of pink tutu!
Stay tuned for more updates from my journey! Until next week, remember – life’s too short to wear boring clothes. Spread the pink tutu love!
Love,
Emma xox
