Pink Tutu Milan #1743: A Whirlwind of Culture and Chic!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel blogger, beaming at you from the cobbled streets of Milan! It’s Wednesday, the 1st of November 2028, and my little heart is positively bursting with excitement after another incredible week in this fashion-forward city.

Before I get swept away by the glamour of the city, let me tell you a little secret: I arrived here via a tram ride, not a private jet (though I do have my eye on one of those for a future adventure!). But isn’t that part of the charm of travelling? Discovering the city’s soul on a trusty, rumbling tram, my pink tutu swirling in the wind! It's about embracing the everyday, finding beauty in the mundane and, of course, looking fabulously chic while doing it!

Now, where was I? Ah yes, Milan! This week has been an absolute whirlwind of fashion, art, and ballet – truly a ballet-lover’s dream come true. Let's dive right in!

A Feast for the Eyes

The week began with a glorious visit to Museo del Novecento – a treasure trove of art from the 20th century. I confess I was utterly smitten by the vibrant colours and captivating perspectives. My little camera (yes, even the pink one with the glitter-sprayed strap) was snapping away like crazy! My pink tutu wasn’t out of place in the midst of modern masterpieces; I'm pretty sure even the most abstract expressionist would find its ethereal charm rather delightful.

The next day, it was time for some retail therapy! I had my heart set on a new pair of ballet shoes, something utterly exquisite that could turn even a simple walk in the park into a pirouette-worthy moment. I ventured into the most gorgeous shop called "Le Ballerine" – tucked away in a quaint side street. And let me tell you, the shoe heaven inside had my heart soaring! It took a whole two hours of careful consideration, but eventually, I found the perfect pair: silver glitter, silk ribbons, and a touch of vintage charm – absolute perfection! I couldn't resist taking a photo with the dazzling display in the shop window, pink tutu dancing with the golden sunlight streaming in.

On the Stage and in the Street

Speaking of ballet, you wouldn’t believe the performance I caught this week. The Teatro alla Scala – the most prestigious opera house in Milan – hosted The Sleeping Beauty this weekend. Honestly, my dear readers, I'm still tingling with awe! The costumes were extravagant, the sets breathtaking, and the dancing...well, it simply took my breath away. The delicate precision of the dancers, their ethereal grace – it felt like a dream come true.

But my Milan experience isn't limited to fancy theatres! The streets of Milan are buzzing with artistic energy, even without a scheduled show. This city is home to incredible street performances! From lively, energetic street dancers to mime artists who painted stories with their movements, there’s an unexpected magic happening on every corner. And me, in my bright pink tutu? You can just imagine the reactions – surprised giggles, approving nods, and the occasional photo request. Honestly, my mission to get the world wearing pink tutus is already off to a fantastic start!

A Bit of Derbyshire in Milan

Oh, my lovelies, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t sprinkle a little bit of Derbyshire into my Milan adventure! On Friday, I treated myself to a delicious afternoon tea at a little gem tucked away in the heart of Milan – “The Earl Grey”. With dainty sandwiches, warm scones and a steaming pot of tea, I indulged in a quintessential British comfort experience, transported for a moment back to the rolling hills and quaint villages of my homeland. I couldn’t resist pairing my delicate teapot with a dainty rose-printed china cup - oh, it was the epitome of chic elegance. I imagine my grandma would be utterly thrilled to see this scene - her influence shines through!

The End of a Busy Week

As my Milan escapade comes to an end, I’m filled with a bittersweet feeling of joy and excitement. The city has been kind to me, offering an enchanting blend of elegance and vibrant street life, a place where my love for ballet finds its perfect home, my pink tutu adding a sprinkle of sparkle wherever I go. I can’t wait to see what adventures next week holds!

My darlings, don’t forget to check back next Monday for a new installment of Pink Tutu Milan! I'm eager to share more fashion finds, artistic marvels, and charming adventures, all spun together with my love for ballet, the delightful colour pink, and, of course, a whole lot of twirling. Until then, keep your spirits bright, your steps light, and your love for pink (and tutus) ablaze!

With a twirl and a smile,

Emma

P.S. My travel plans for the rest of the month include:

  • Tuesday 3rd of November: An afternoon tea at The Duchess, one of Milan's finest tea rooms! I hear they have the most exquisite rose petal cake, a perfect accompaniment to my pink tutu.
  • Wednesday 4th of November: Visiting the Fondazione Prada. You simply must experience this extraordinary art and fashion complex; their exhibitions are always captivating.
  • Thursday 5th of November: Heading out to explore Milan’s parks. I hear the city is brimming with stunning green spaces; the perfect opportunity for a photoshoot with my favourite accessory!
  • Saturday 7th of November: A performance by the English National Ballet at Teatro degli Arcimboldi. You know I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
  • Sunday 8th of November: Catching up with a group of talented dancers who live in Milan, all of them wonderful, vibrant individuals. I hope to inspire them with my colourful spirit and love for pink tutus!

I’ll be sure to document all these adventures on www.pink-tutu.com! And don't hesitate to connect with me on Instagram: @pinktutuexplorer. I'd love to hear from you all!
