Hello, darlings!
It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, writing to you live from the concrete jungle! Yep, I'm back in New York City, my favourite playground for all things sparkly, glamorous, and β of course β pink! This week's adventures? Well, they started the moment my little feet touched the pavement of the Big Apple, and trust me, they haven't stopped twirling since!
A Dash of Derbyshire in the City That Never Sleeps
This week's visit marks a special occasion β it's the one-year anniversary of my very first solo trip to New York! How time flies when you're dancing with the city's energy, right? I still remember my giddy excitement arriving in the bustling city, its energy as infectious as a perfectly choreographed dance routine. The feeling never goes away, and this trip has been extra special, bringing back the sheer joy of being in this fabulous place. And honestly, you can never truly see all New York has to offer. With every visit, there's always a new restaurant to discover, a hidden vintage boutique to stumble upon, or a dazzling theatre show to take in. This city keeps me on my toes, metaphorically and literally!
On My Pink Tutu Radar: This Week's Itinerary
Now, you know my pink tutu diary wouldn't be complete without a full itinerary, don't you? And I have to say, this week's been absolutely jam-packed with dance-worthy delights.
Monday: Arrival and the Metro Waltz
Landing in JFK was a dream. Sunshine, sparkling skies, and the city's energy hummed as I stepped off the plane. First things first, a cab ride to the most glorious hotel, dripping with pink-hued chandeliers. Let's just say it felt like waltzing into a fairytale. Next, I had to join the famous New York subway system, or as I call it, the "Metro Waltz" - an absolute ballet in its own right! There's something incredibly captivating about being squeezed in like sardines, everyone moving in perfect harmony, heading to their own destinations.
Tuesday: A Fashion Symphony
I can't come to New York without getting my fashion fix, can I? So, Tuesday was all about strutting my stuff down the streets of SoHo, feeling like a ballerina queen! I swear, some of the shops there are like exquisite ballets of fabrics, colours, and textures β absolutely mesmerising. I picked up a few must-have items, of course! Including a breathtaking silk scarf in the most delicate shade of lavender β perfect for pairing with my favourite pink tutu.
Wednesday: The Ballet of Broadway
Wednesday evening was dedicated to the dazzling lights of Broadway! My dear friend, Alice (an actress I met during my first trip here!), joined me to watch a stunning new production of "Cinderella." I must say, the costumes were nothing short of spectacular, like shimmering gowns in a fairytale ballet! The dancing was incredible, the music unforgettable β truly a magical night.
Thursday: The Brooklyn Bridge Waltz
Who doesn't love a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge? Well, let me tell you, a twirl across it is something else! The breeze gently whisked my tutu around me as I took in the stunning city views. I even found myself a charming little vintage record store on the Brooklyn side, where I snagged a few 70s records. (If anyone's in need of a pink tutu playlist, hit me up!)
Friday: Ballet Dreams Come True
What a way to end the week! I treated myself to an absolutely spectacular performance at the Lincoln Center. We're talking world-renowned ballet dancers, stunning choreography, and music that swept you up like a whirlwind. My tutu, you can be sure, twirled along with them! Seeing those amazing performers dancing with so much skill and grace, I was completely mesmerised. It was truly inspiring and a powerful reminder of the joy and beauty of ballet.
Saturday: A Day in Central Park
For a break from the hustle and bustle, I spent Saturday afternoon indulging in a blissful day in Central Park. I had a picnic in the sunshine with a book by Jane Austen β another English classic I absolutely adore. Central Park really is a treasure, a sanctuary of green within the heart of the city. It felt so serene.
Sunday: The City That Never Sleeps, or Does it?
By Sunday, my feet were aching, my head full of sparkly city dreams, and my tutu needed a well-deserved rest! But I was ready for one final, memorable farewell meal at a restaurant with twinkling lights and mouthwatering food β what better way to celebrate a successful trip?
