Hello lovelies, and welcome to #PinkTutuBlogNYC! This week’s blog is post number 1614 and is all about my whirlwind of a time in New York City! As you all know, I'm a big fan of dancing, pink tutus and seeing shows – so what better place to explore all of those passions than the city that never sleeps?
Right from the get-go, I felt the magic of New York. Arriving at JFK airport, I knew this trip was going to be fabulous. Of course, I had my trusty pink tutu with me – it's like my lucky charm! I took a spin right there in baggage claim (a little embarrassing, but who cares?!).
My first mission: conquering the New York subway. Let's face it, navigating any public transport can be a bit of a headache, but this little ballerina was not letting it get her down. Thankfully, I'd done a bit of research beforehand, downloaded the subway app and had a fabulous, sparkling pink fold-out map of New York with me (because, well, pink is my signature!). Let’s just say, finding my way around the subways became an adventure in itself – and wouldn’t you know it, even on the packed, crowded carriages, I couldn't resist a quick twirl. You'd think it's a big no-no in New York, but it's all about embracing that "be-your-fabulous-self" energy, right?
A whirlwind of shows! 🎭 ✨This week has been an absolute whirlwind of shows! New York is like the capital of performing arts – it’s impossible to go a day without seeing a new, dazzling production. From Broadway blockbusters to intimate Off-Off-Broadway gems, I've seen it all.
Firstly, we went to "The Phantom of the Opera." My cheeks hurt from smiling so much! I can't recommend this musical enough! The chandeliers, the costumes – absolutely fabulous! And the music? Pure magic! You know it's a classic, and even if you've seen it before, it still gives you those feels.
But that wasn't all! Next up, I was lucky enough to catch "Hamilton." Now, I know, everyone talks about this show, and trust me, it deserves all the hype. The talent was unreal, the choreography just jaw-dropping. But what I truly loved about "Hamilton" is its clever storytelling – blending history and hip-hop. Seriously innovative. The whole theatre was buzzing afterwards – it was definitely one for the books.
My ballet addiction brought me to see a marvelous performance by The New York City Ballet. It was so inspiring! The precision, the grace – it reminded me why I adore dancing. They truly take the art form to another level. And afterwards, I couldn't resist slipping into a cute ballet-inspired outfit. After all, you can never go wrong with a chic, tutu-inspired look!
But what really topped it off was the evening I went to see a fantastic Off-Broadway show called "The World According To Snuggle." It's a small, quirky play with such a big heart, it melted my heart! So often in big cities, it feels like everyone’s running about, never stopping to truly connect with each other. This little show, though, reminded me that kindness and connection are more important than anything!
Pink Tutus in the City that Never Sleeps 🛍️💖🗽This wouldn't be a #PinkTutuBlogNYC without some fabulous shopping! I mean, how could I visit New York City and not treat myself to a few amazing fashion finds?! New York City is truly a haven for all things chic! From stylish department stores to unique boutiques bursting with character, the city offers a never-ending selection for any fashionista like myself.
My favourite finds were definitely the cute ballet-inspired shoes at Aldo and the absolutely divine vintage dresses I stumbled across in a shop in SoHo. But let’s be honest, finding amazing outfits in New York is easy. The real challenge is resisting the temptation to buy everything in sight!
Oh, and a bit of gossip! While I was exploring the shops on Fifth Avenue, guess who I bumped into? Anna Wintour! Now, let's just say, that's one of the biggest fashion idols of all time, right?! She looked stunning, with a fierce, chic haircut, but also completely effortless – as if stepping straight from a magazine. She glanced my way, but thankfully didn't judge my tutu! Maybe I'll try to recruit her to be the Pink Tutu Ambassador. Who knows? Maybe in my next blog... 😉
From Ballet Class to Central Park 🩰🌳So, it's not all shows and shopping in New York. A little slice of normalcy is important. After a morning spent in a fantastic ballet class at the Broadway Dance Center (seriously, a ballerina's dream come true!) – I found myself walking in the beautiful green haven of Central Park. There was something almost fairytale-like about it! Imagine - Central Park, a beautiful, pink tutu, and a sunny day in New York. I could barely keep a smile off my face. I spent hours strolling through those serene walkways, watching people playing frisbee, sketching, even doing some dancing with a few little kids – I can't tell you how happy that made them!
You can probably guess how much I'm in love with New York City! It’s everything I thought it would be: bustling, vibrant, and absolutely overflowing with culture and creative energy. You know I wouldn't miss a chance to try the iconic New York pizza – seriously, it’s every bit as amazing as they say! I definitely recommend a visit to the famous Joe’s Pizza if you ever visit – it was cheesy, tangy, and absolutely divine!
Pink Tutu Travels – My journey continues! My week in the Big Apple has come to an end, and I’m already thinking about how to make my next visit even more glamorous! There’s just so much more to see!
I'm heading back to Derbyshire, my little haven, for a short while, ready to share the experiences of New York City with my family and friends. You know what that means! A lot more stories, photographs, and hopefully, more people joining the Pink Tutu movement! After all, wouldn’t the world be a much happier place with more pink tutus?
Until next time, remember to always twirl, embrace your individuality, and never let anyone tell you you can't rock a pink tutu! 💖✨
See you next Monday, my lovelies!
Love, Emma xoxo

And now, here are some things you can do with your new pink tutu, inspired by my NYC trip!
Put on a Pink Tutu Performance: Gather a group of your friends, don your favourite tutus, and stage a fun ballet flash mob in your local park. Be a dazzling, pink-tutu-clad ray of sunshine brightening everyone’s day!
Visit a ballet school and take a lesson: Nothing like stepping into the world of graceful twirls and elegant movements. It's a great way to learn some dance moves, even if you think you two left feet – it's all about having fun!
Get together with your family and have a themed Pink Tutu Family Movie Night! Gather around and watch a classic like "The Wizard of Oz" (remember Dorothy’s iconic red shoes?! Close enough, right? ) or a film that showcases beautiful dance moves like “The Red Shoes.” It’s a fun and fabulous way to share your love for dancing with your loved ones!
Start a Pink Tutu Swap party!: Exchange pre-loved tutus and give new life to your old favorites. You can even turn it into a charity event, donating some of your proceeds to a local charity, or supporting an organisation that promotes ballet education.
And remember: If you’re ever feeling a bit lost, or if your soul needs a little sparkle, don your favorite pink tutu and let it take you on an adventure of your own. Life is too short not to twirl! 💕✨
