Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and you know what? I'm bursting with excitement. Why? Because today is Monday! And Mondays in New York mean it's time for my Pink Tutu blog post! It's June 29th, 2026 - a perfect day to be twirling around this incredible city.
This week, New York City's got me absolutely whirlwind with its energy and excitement. The moment I arrived at JFK airport, a little part of my heart knew it was going to be special. Stepping onto the subway and catching that iconic "I ♥ NY" sign was enough to set my inner ballerina on fire.
Speaking of iconic… how could I forget? My gorgeous new pink tutu arrived yesterday, specially tailored by a wonderful shop on the Upper West Side! It’s a blush pink, like a sunrise over a summer sky, and the tulle is so delicate it feels like I could fly in it! I can't wait to show it off at tonight's ballet performance – something I can't go into too much detail about, of course, it's all a secret! 😉
Yesterday was all about shopping in the Big Apple. Let me tell you, this city is an absolute fashion paradise! From the stylish boutiques of Fifth Avenue to the charming little vintage stores of Soho, there's a garment for every whim. My heart skipped a beat as I wandered past the colourful window displays, each one showcasing the latest trends and timeless classics.
Did you know there are shops that specialise in vintage ballet costumes and shoes? I picked up the most stunning pair of ballet slippers – they’re rose pink satin, so glamorous and perfect for a debut performance. (Who knows when that will be… maybe in a few weeks, maybe in a few months - this city always has something exciting waiting around the corner!)
Then, there were the delightful tea rooms – perfect for a delicate slice of cake and a pot of fragrant tea! Each one I tried seemed to have its own distinct personality and a truly delectable menu. I’m sure this trip is going to result in a few new tea-themed tutu designs – can you imagine a "Afternoon Tea" tutu?!
The thing is, I'm so grateful that I get to experience all this. It wasn't easy. I grew up in the countryside, a small village in Derbyshire, surrounded by green fields. But I always dreamt of a city life.
That childhood dream became reality after years of hard work and determination. Performing in smaller ballet companies, travelling from town to town for shows – that’s what paid for my journey to the city that never sleeps. And let me tell you, there is no greater reward than following your dreams!
Today's adventure is all about a captivating performance, this time in the vibrant world of Broadway! I am absolutely beside myself. Last week, I managed to snag tickets to Hamilton, and I just can't contain my excitement. It’s going to be breathtakingly theatrical, a whirlwind of talent and energy.
You see, my dear readers, it’s not just about the dancing. It’s about being part of a community of individuals who believe in magic and artistry. Every time I walk down the street and see a couple holding hands, or a young dancer pirouetting on the sidewalk, I'm reminded of the extraordinary beauty that surrounds us.
This is New York City, a city pulsating with energy. A city where dreams are dreamt and pursued, where people dance, and where the air itself crackles with possibility. I am going to soak up every moment, twirling through the streets, experiencing the exhilarating beauty and vibrant artistry that is New York City.
