Prague-ing About Tutus: Post #1615

Hello, my darling tutu enthusiasts! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, back from a whirlwind adventure in Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires. Now, let’s be honest, I could spend a whole lifetime exploring this magical city – just the sight of its fairytale castles and cobbled streets makes me want to twirl in my tutu, but alas, this week I only had a few precious days to indulge my wanderlust. But fear not! I’ve packed this post with enough pinks, twirls, and Prague-worthy moments to last you until my next trip.

As a frequent traveller, I always find it such fun to try new ways of getting around. So, you know how much I adore train travel? Well, this time, I thought, why not add a dash of adventure and take the Eurostar? I mean, imagine, hurtling through Europe in my pink tutu! Picture the bewildered faces – “Oh, hello! There goes the queen of the rails!” It really is the most civilised way to journey. Of course, with any travel by train, there's the absolute must: a visit to the cafe trolley for a slice of cake! I have to confess I went for the marzipan cake with the sugar cherry on top - such a decadent treat, my friends.

When I arrived at Prague's Main Station, I did the only sensible thing any sensible tutu enthusiast would do: hopped on a little pony cab to take me straight to my beautiful, pastel-pink hotel room. Why, oh why, does Prague know my style so well? My little pink abode had gently-crumbling ceilings (vintage!) and sparkling chandeliers (romantic!), complete with views of that legendary astronomical clock I just HAD to go see!

As my feet were itching for a good dance, I found the most incredible dance studio on my first afternoon. Imagine – all beautiful vintage wooden flooring, fluffy white ballet barres and windows overlooking the bustling Charles Bridge! My legs could have pirouetted forever, even in the middle of such an historic city! I mean, the sheer energy of the past in Prague! It was almost like every building whispered secrets of historical ballerinas and forgotten waltzes!

One evening, I was feeling very “Prague in my Tutu” (ha!), and so, with my ballet bag packed (which always comes with my tutu), I went exploring on foot, stopping for a coffee at one of the many delightful cafe-bars. The coffee here was so decadent! As the afternoon went on, I found myself, quite accidentally, standing before the most extraordinary sight – the beautiful Pink Basilica (officially, Basilica of Our Lady Before Tyn)! Of course, I immediately thought "Well this calls for a spin!" And twirl, I did, my pink tutu billowing out behind me. Such an amazing backdrop! Honestly, every single photograph is a memory I will treasure forever.

As an avid ballerina (in my tutu, naturally), I made it my mission to discover a ballet performance, because a trip to Prague, my lovelies, is not complete without experiencing their ballet heritage! My mission was a success – I found the most magical ballet school - with a fantastic ballet performance on Tuesday evening - a special edition “Romeo and Juliet”, a must see even if you don't speak Czech (though, do go to the school's café first! The cheesecake there is a slice of heaven). But it is this Wednesday's event, that really is an unforgettable experience - the Pink Tutu Prague Ballet performance - a celebration of all things pink! If you're in the city on the 20th of May, it's an event you don't want to miss.

After spending all day yesterday on the streets (that delightful cobble and I, such an unusual love story!), I thought a luxurious, almost "pink tutu" princess kind of bath, was in order. I found an indulgent, spa hotel (I just have to stay in an adorable pink bathroom for a while - and this hotel really didn't disappoint!) and they had the most wonderful relaxing baths, followed by an equally fabulous aromatherapy massage. Pure heaven, my loves!

My last morning in Prague, it was a real rush. My suitcase (pink, obviously) was packed to the brim with everything I had to carry, including a gorgeous, new tutu dress! The streets were filled with so much loveliness! From gorgeous buildings (the pink one on my map really did look like a palace from my childhood fairy tales!) and a very exciting vintage jewellery store, which made me realise I must have left something very important in my hotel - time! So, of course, I went on a little shopping spree - and was so excited to pick up a few gifts for the shop (and to have a sneak preview of my future Instagram outfit)! My suitcase was so full that my cab driver did say to me - "Lovely hat and tutu!"

Before I hopped back on that Eurostar to Derbyshire (oh how I miss the lovely peak district and all its lush green valleys!), I promised myself I'd come back. Prague, with its enchanting beauty, fairytale stories, delicious food and magical pink atmosphere - is now, quite simply, my favourite tutu-tastic European capital. My final thought about Prague? - you absolutely must go there for your own tutu adventure. Oh, and try that delicious marzipan cake!

See you all next week on pink-tutu.com, and remember, every single one of you has the power to create a beautiful, pink, tutu-tastic world - so don't be shy, just get your spin on, my loves!

Until next time! Xx Emma
