#PinkTutuRome #Week1561
Ciao, darlings! It's Emma from Pink Tutu, and I'm so excited to finally be in Rome! I've been dreaming of this trip for ages, and now, after a rather exciting train journey from Derbyshire (complete with a spontaneous tutu-clad dance-off in the carriage, of course!), I'm ready to embrace the magic of this incredible city.
This week's #PinkTutuRome blog is all about my first few days in the Eternal City. Picture me: pink tutu twirling its way through ancient ruins, catching breathtaking sunsets over the Colosseum, and maybe even bumping into a dashing Italian Romeo or two (fingers crossed!) 🤞
Rome: A Ballet of History and Culture
As a ballerina, I find myself drawn to the artistry of the past, and Rome certainly doesn't disappoint. The city itself is like a giant stage set, with grand avenues, imposing structures, and charming piazzas filled with locals and tourists alike. I already feel like I've stepped into a Renaissance painting.
My first stop had to be the Colosseum. Standing in this ancient amphitheatre, I couldn't help but imagine the gladiatorial battles, chariot races, and theatrical performances that once filled it. The scale and craftsmanship of this structure is awe-inspiring, and it's no wonder it's considered one of the wonders of the ancient world.
From there, it was onto the Roman Forum, the heart of the Roman Empire. The Palatine Hill, where ancient emperors once lived, gave me incredible panoramic views across the Forum and its ruins. The history, the atmosphere, it was truly a sensory overload!
A Tutu-tastic Shopping Spree!
Rome is not just about history; it's also about style. As soon as I stepped out of Termini station, I knew this city would be a shopaholic's paradise! 🛍️
I have to tell you, the Italian fashion scene is something else. There are so many chic boutiques and designer shops, I can barely keep up! My favourite find so far has been a tiny little shop tucked away in a cobblestone alley, overflowing with the most exquisite pink accessories! You can bet I stocked up on some delightful earrings and hair clips for my evening strolls around the city.
I've even spotted some beautiful pink ballet shoes in a vintage shop - what a treat for my ballerina feet! 😍
Ballet Dreams Come True
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without seeing some stunning ballet performances. Luckily, the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is currently hosting a spectacular season. On Wednesday evening, I'm off to see "Giselle" - one of my all-time favourites! I can't wait to see this romantic masterpiece brought to life on stage, and I'll be sure to tell you all about it next week.
In between exploring and shopping, I've been indulging in some delicious Italian treats - pasta, gelato, you name it! My stomach is happy, my wardrobe is growing, and I'm dancing with joy in this gorgeous city.
Don't forget, darlings, it's #PinkTutuWednesday! Be sure to share your ballet moments with me on social media. Tell me all about your favourite tutus, your dream dance destinations, or simply show me what you're wearing. Don't be shy!
Remember, a little bit of pink goes a long way. 💕
Until next Wednesday,
Emma x

Day Two: Trevi Fountain and Pantheon MagicOkay, darlings, the magic just keeps unfolding here in Rome. Today was another whirlwind of adventure, and guess what? My pink tutu got to be part of it all!
First stop: The Trevi Fountain. You’ve all seen pictures of this magnificent baroque masterpiece, and honestly, they don’t do it justice. The scale, the detail, the sheer beauty of it - it just took my breath away!
Now, it’s said that if you throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain, you’ll one day return to Rome. So, I did. Not one coin, but two! I can't wait to come back to explore this city even further. And who knows, maybe a certain Italian Romeo will be waiting for me... 😉
After our Trevi Fountain experience, we headed to the Pantheon, another architectural marvel. The history of this ancient temple is just incredible - it's been a temple, a church, and a tomb all in one! The dome is absolutely mind-blowing - you can see the open eye in the centre of the dome, letting in the sunlight, making it a breathtaking sight to behold.
We spent ages inside, soaking up the atmosphere, admiring the beauty, and capturing it all on camera (including my own pink tutu posing for a photo op, of course! 📸).
Afternoon Delights and the Magic of the Spanish Steps
For lunch, we found the cutest little cafe with tables nestled under a beautiful pergola - the perfect spot to soak up the afternoon sunshine. And let me tell you, the pasta and gelato were pure heaven!
In the afternoon, we went to the Spanish Steps. This majestic stairway, adorned with blooming azaleas, felt like something straight out of a fairy tale! It's a popular spot to mingle with the locals and tourists, and to take in the gorgeous panoramic views across the city. I even had a brief, but beautiful ballet moment, pirouetteing right in the centre of the steps! The onlookers cheered, and let me tell you, that applause made me feel like a princess!
Dinner Under the Tuscan Stars
Tonight, we went to the most romantic little restaurant. We ate under the starry sky, in the heart of a quaint, cobblestone alleyway, serenaded by a live guitarist playing classic Italian tunes.
The food was phenomenal - we enjoyed the best spaghetti carbonara and osso buco I've ever tasted. This meal, coupled with the beautiful ambience, was pure culinary bliss!
The Dreamy Nights of Rome
My dear friends, Rome by night is pure enchantment. The twinkling lights, the romantic music, the sweet smells of freshly baked bread drifting through the air - it's a city that comes alive after dark.
Tonight, I strolled through the charming streets of the Trastevere district. This bohemian neighbourhood is bursting with atmosphere, filled with hidden trattorias, bustling bars, and cobblestone lanes where you can find the perfect souvenir.
I even stumbled upon a street performer, a young ballerina, twirling gracefully to the sounds of a mandolin. She reminded me of the magic of ballet and how it can connect people across continents and cultures.
Pink Tutu's Little Pink Romanticist
You know, being in Rome is making me believe in the idea of finding love, true love. The air here is filled with a certain magic, a romance that transcends time. The city itself feels like a storybook come to life.
It’s no wonder Rome is called the "Eternal City" - the energy here is electrifying, and it feels like anything is possible. Perhaps a dashing, Italian prince might just walk by any moment, charmed by my pink tutu and captivating smile. 😊
I'll be back tomorrow with more Roman adventures, including my ballet night out at the opera! Stay tuned for the final leg of our #PinkTutuRome week!
Until then, remember:
Live life in a pink tutu! 💕

Day Three: The Teatro dell'Opera and Ballet MagicBuongiorno, my lovelies! Day three in Rome has been nothing short of ballet bliss! I’ve just come home from a magical evening at the Teatro dell'Opera, and I’m overflowing with emotion! ✨
The Teatro dell’Opera, a grand and magnificent opera house, has witnessed centuries of musical and dramatic brilliance. Standing outside, its Neoclassical facade sparkling under the Italian sky, felt like I was stepping into another world, one of dreams and grandeur.
We walked through the ornate entrance hall, where a beautifully crafted marble staircase swept gracefully upwards. I took a moment to soak in the atmosphere, envisioning grand opera singers, ballet dancers twirling in perfect unison, the rich, captivating music echoing through the majestic hall.
The performance was pure magic. Tonight, the company was staging "Giselle," the beautiful story of a heartbroken young girl, a beautiful, classic ballet that captivates audiences even centuries later. I found myself transfixed from the opening notes, lost in the world of swirling tutus, tragic love, and hauntingly beautiful music.
The stage design was mesmerizing, the costumes were exquisitely detailed, and the choreography, so incredibly nuanced and elegant! My own tutu just wanted to dance along, I swear!
The entire evening, I found myself teary-eyed at certain moments, lost in the emotions, and at other times, jumping with excitement, swept up in the beauty of every pirouette and arabesque.
The Power of Ballet
Ballet has always been a passion for me, but experiencing it in a historical theatre like this truly brings its magic to life.
It's not just about graceful movements, or beautiful costumes. It's a world of emotions, a language understood across cultures. And to see such an incredible performance made me appreciate even more the artistry of this art form.
After the Show, It's Fashion Time!
The show, sadly, had to end eventually, but the feeling of exhilaration still lingered. So we took to the streets, embracing the electric energy of a Rome evening.
For dinner, I went to the trendiest new restaurant. I found this cute vintage clothing store, where I snagged the perfect pair of pink lace-up boots for my upcoming trips! They’re the perfect addition to any outfit, and the most comfortable travel footwear.
After dinner, I wandered through the narrow streets of the city centre, feeling that quintessential Italian energy all around. Rome by night is truly something special. The flickering lampposts, the conversations echoing through cobblestone streets, the aroma of coffee wafting from tiny cafés - a real heady mix of romanticism and pure joie de vivre.
A Dreamy Finish
Tonight, I couldn't resist taking one last stroll to the Trevi Fountain. Standing before it, I took a moment to close my eyes, and allow the beauty and serenity to envelop me. The cool night air brushed against my cheeks, the cascading water created a rhythmic lullaby, and I felt as though I could just sit there forever.
Tomorrow, it's time to say goodbye to Rome. My train to Florence leaves early in the morning, taking me on a new ballet adventure! 🚄
But I know that I'll forever cherish these moments in the "Eternal City", the memories I’ve made, and the pink tutu dance that it will always inspire! 💖
Until next time,
Remember, live life in pink!
