Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! (Blog Post #1590)

Wednesday, 26th November 2025

Buongiorno from Rome! Can you believe it's already Wednesday? I swear, the time flies when you're having fun exploring the Eternal City! This week, I'm kicking things off in a chic new pink tutu (more about that later!) as we venture through the streets of Rome, from ancient wonders to hidden gems.

For those who don't know me, I'm Emma, your resident pink tutu aficionado and globetrotting ballerina. Every Wednesday, I take you on a whimsical adventure to new places, embracing the magic of fashion, ballet, and exploring all the amazing corners of our beautiful planet.

This week, however, it's all about Rome! I'm living it up in the heart of Italy, exploring cobbled streets, savoring delicious pasta, and admiring the beauty of history all around. Of course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Rome trip without a dash of fashion inspiration and a whole lot of tutu twirls!

A Fashionable Start

Before I set off for a day of exploration, I knew I had to choose the perfect tutu. And what's more perfect for Rome than a blush pink tutu with delicate rose appliques? The colour is divine against the golden hues of Roman architecture, and the appliques, inspired by the Roman floral mosaics, just felt…well, so Roma!

Speaking of fashion, you wouldn't believe the incredible finds I had in the charming vintage boutiques of Rome. I scored a vintage pink feather boa to add a touch of glitz to my outfits, and a gorgeous pink straw hat adorned with pink velvet roses for those sun-drenched afternoon strolls. It's a lesson in layering, darling, all those pastel pinks and floral patterns creating the perfect mix of elegant and quirky!

A Delicious Day at the Mercato Testaccio

This morning, I ventured into the heart of Testaccio, a neighbourhood buzzing with life and vibrant colours. The Mercato Testaccio, a sprawling open-air market, was an absolute dream. It's a haven for food lovers like myself! From piles of plump tomatoes to artisanal cheese, from glistening fish to stalls overflowing with local olives, there's something to entice every palate. And the scent of freshly baked bread! You could just linger in the air forever, my dears.

I snagged some delectable mozzarella di bufala, juicy olives, and of course, the freshest bread to munch on throughout the day. All while sporting a vintage, wide-brimmed, pink sun hat, naturally!

Lunch at a Family-Run Trattoria

Lunch at the Mercato was truly a delightful experience. You'd think a ballerina would avoid carb-laden goodness, but honestly, how can you resist pasta in Italy?! I opted for a plate of carbonara (and I must say it was divine! The silky creamy sauce with salty pancetta and perfectly cooked spaghetti…swoon!)

I enjoyed my lunch with a family-run trattoria right in the heart of the Mercato. They welcomed me with open arms and warm smiles. Honestly, the people of Rome are simply delightful.

Sunset at the Colosseum

You can't come to Rome and not marvel at the majesty of the Colosseum! The sunset painted the sky in hues of peach, lavender, and rose - just like my outfit, if I do say so myself! I must confess, a slight, accidental tutu twirl under the watchful eye of the Roman emperors seemed appropriate, don't you think? It was the perfect picture, and you can see all about it on my Instagram - don't forget to give me a follow!

An Evening of Ballet at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma

After my whirlwind tour of the Colosseum, I couldn't resist indulging in some culture, which brings me to the highlight of the day. Tonight, I had the honour of attending a ballet performance at the grand Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! I mean, can you believe it? The stunning opera house is adorned in lavish red velvet and glittering chandeliers, creating an enchanting backdrop for an evening of dance.

The ballet itself was exquisite. A passionate rendition of "La Traviata" danced with elegance and emotion. There was just something magical about being there, enveloped in the warmth and beauty of the art form. Every movement, every emotion - it all resonated within me. Of course, a few subtle pink tutu twirls happened in the theatre's magnificent halls… just a little something to celebrate the evening!

A Final Reflection on My Day in Rome

As I reflect upon the day's adventures, I can't help but be filled with a deep sense of joy and gratitude. From exploring bustling markets to indulging in culinary delights and soaking up the history and art, it's truly been an unforgettable journey. It’s not every day you get to twirl a tutu beneath the majesty of the Roman Colosseum!

And you know what, it just reinforces my belief that life is about embracing every opportunity, wearing that fabulous pink tutu with pride, and allowing yourself to be swept away by the magic of travel, fashion, and art. It’s all about creating moments that bring a little sparkle to your day.

And, my dearest readers, if I could share one message with you, it would be this: never be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, embrace the vibrant world around you, and never underestimate the power of a little pink tutu. Who knows what incredible adventures you might find yourself in!

Ciao, and until next Wednesday,

Emma
