Pink Tutu Rome - Post 1600: Ciao Bella from the Eternal City!

Wednesday 4th February, 2026

Oh my darling tutu-lovers! I'm writing this from a charming little cafe overlooking the Pantheon. Can you believe it? I’m in Rome! It feels like a dream. Just imagine, cobblestone streets, ancient ruins, beautiful buildings, and gelato everywhere you look. The air itself smells of history and pasta! Honestly, it's tutu fantastic!

Now, you might be thinking, "Emma, why Rome? Why now?" Well, I had a very special reason, and as you know, a ballerina’s heart never truly leaves the theatre, even when she's travelling! This trip is all about The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It’s an absolute masterpiece of a building, built in 1880! Imagine, tutus twirling on that stage for over a century! Just thinking about it sets my pointe shoes tapping!

And speaking of performances, this week's blog post is all about my fabulous ballet experience here. I know, you are probably expecting me to say the 'Rome Ballet,' right? Wrong! I'm going beyond the classics this week and I'm venturing into the fascinating world of contemporary ballet.

Before we get into my tutu-rific experience, a quick chat about how I got here! As always, I took the train. Honestly, travelling by rail just feels right for my ballet-inspired travel style. I can just imagine myself whirling past fields and villages in my favourite pink tutu (you know the one – the tulle so voluminous it needs its own passport!), it's absolutely divine! This time I went through Paris and then onto Rome, it's quite a journey, and of course, a train ride gives me the perfect opportunity to sit and jot down some tutu-licious blog ideas!

So, back to Rome. It was pouring with rain when I arrived, and as soon as I got to the hotel I was in that blissful feeling of being “on holiday”! You know that moment, where all of the world's worries just seem to melt away, leaving just pure joy and excitement for what’s to come? Well, Rome always does that to me, and you guys, the hotel? They let me keep my tutu hanging on a special stand in my room! You bet I snapped a pic for the 'gram, it’s perfect pink tutu-tastic inspiration. Speaking of inspiration, have you tried searching "Pink Tutu Rome" on Instagram? Trust me, it's a whole world of tutu-themed adventure in this glorious city.

After I had my little girly nap in the most gloriously pink room (imagine floral bedsheets and pink lighting – so glamorous!), I set off to see what delights this beautiful city held in store for me. Now, any trip to Rome has to include a good dose of pasta and gelato! Seriously, I could live off those two things!

Wednesday evening

I couldn’t wait to explore! After a fantastic pizza, and just enough tutu-licious gelato to fuel my evening, I was off to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

You wouldn't believe it, they had the most incredible dancers! The performance was called “Metamorphosis,” a powerful and emotive show that had me on the edge of my seat (in a very chic, ballet-esque way, of course)! I mean, these dancers were phenomenal, with their perfect lines and effortless movement, and this fantastic blend of modern music and expressive movement that took me on an absolute emotional rollercoaster. I loved the sheer artistry of it all!

I must tell you about my new ballet outfit, too! I wore a soft pink lace tutu and a stunning vintage-inspired dress in shimmering lilac. This was no ordinary tutu, darling. Think delicate layers of pale pink tulle, with a bit of a frill at the bottom. Of course, I kept it subtle - no giant plumes here! It just added a touch of romance and whimsy to the whole look. And the sparkly lilac dress, ahem, let's just say it was a little ballet-fabulous. You'll see it in my Instagram pictures – you are going to love the way the colour looks under the stage lighting!

Honestly, the whole evening left me feeling inspired! I had the chance to chat with some dancers after the show and the whole thing just reminded me why I adore ballet so much. I absolutely love how dance transcends languages and culture. Everyone in that audience was truly captivated by the performance, from young to old! This was the kind of evening that inspires you to go out and do incredible things.

Speaking of inspired… guess what?! The lovely team at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma were so impressed with my outfit that they gave me tickets to attend their next big ballet show – “Swan Lake!”

Yep! That's right, folks. I’m going to see “Swan Lake!” in the very place it all started! I can’t wait to experience the magic of this legendary ballet in the incredible Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. You know I'm planning the most epic pink tutu outfit for that performance! Imagine – white swan elegance and all that glitz and glamour! I'll definitely have a blog post all about it.

But for now, ciao bella, from this stunning city. I'm going to go find some of that fantastic tutu-licious gelato. Stay tuned, darling! Next Wednesday, I’ll have lots of fun adventures from Rome, from hidden corners to a little bit more shopping, plus more amazing pink tutu inspiration from the city of eternal wonder!

Lots of love and tutu-tastic good vibes,

Emma x
