Buongiorno, my darling pink tutu-ers! Itās Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuRome post.
Today Iām stepping into the heart of Rome, a city steeped in history, romance, and⦠yes, you guessed it, pink! As I sit here, sipping on a creamy cappuccino in a sunny piazza, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of life, I can't help but feel that Rome truly has it all.
The Train Journey and the Tutu Magic
Now, before I delve into the beauty and wonders of this Italian city, let's rewind a bit to my arrival. My journey here, like all my travels, started on a train. Thereās something magical about a train journey, a sense of adventure, a time to daydream and gaze out of the window at the ever-changing scenery. This journey, a whistle-stop tour from the stunning Tuscan hillsides, filled with vineyards and cypress trees, to the bustling Roman cityscape, felt especially grand.
Donāt even get me started on the tutus, my dear readers! You know how I feel about the power of pink and tutus to turn any journey into something magical. I think a bright pink tutu was exactly what the carriages needed to brighten up the journey, donāt you? Honestly, the Italian men couldnāt stop smiling at me, even if they were unsure what I was doing in their midst, wearing this outfit and dancing down the train carriage!
Roman Delight: Food, Fashion & Flora
Stepping into Rome felt like stepping back in time. Everywhere you look, you find a hidden treasure ā a crumbling Roman ruin, a magnificent church, or a quaint, cobblestone alleyway. The streets are alive with the chatter of locals, the scent of freshly baked bread and the rumble of Vespas zipping past.
Yesterday, after my train journey, I decided to dive head-first into the city's delicious food culture. I found the most adorable trattoria hidden down a cobblestoned alleyway. The owner, a charming man with a twinkle in his eye, insisted on teaching me a few Italian phrases - he said, āOnly way to experience true Italy!" So, with a big smile and a giggle, I started my language lessons while tucking into the most heavenly pasta dish.
Of course, no trip to Italy is complete without indulging in some serious shopping. You could call me a shopaholic, but I call myself a āfashion enthusiastā. I love finding unique, local designers and shops ā they are my favourite places for discovering unusual fashion finds, that just wouldnāt be available back home in Derbyshire. Itās all about the hunt, and a good haggle! Thereās something so rewarding about finding a one-off piece thatās simply perfect, and who could resist all that leather and designer silk?
On Monday, I spent the afternoon exploring the city's sprawling botanical gardens. Lush green, with hidden pathways, shimmering fountains and cascading waterfalls. I lost myself amongst the fragrant roses, majestic cypress trees, and delicate orchids. And I even met a couple of playful squirrels who stole some of my grapes! It's not every day you can say youāve made a furry friend in a Roman garden, but Rome, as they say, has its own special magic.
Ballet, Broadway & Beauty
My schedule in Rome is filled to the brim, with something beautiful around every corner. On Monday evening, I went to the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and was truly spellbound by a stunning performance of the ballet, āGiselle". There was such energy, such drama, and the tutus! Oh my, the tutus were a symphony of pink and tulle!
And on Friday night, I am catching a live Broadway show thatās brought its magic to Rome. My goodness, this is going to be exciting - and as you know, I'm just going to love my outfit! I canāt wait to get the perfect combination of ballet and Broadway style for that show, something special but just a little outlandish!
More than Just a Tourist
One of the things I adore about travelling, especially to a city like Rome, is feeling the true heartbeat of the place. Itās not just about the grand monuments and museums, but also about immersing yourself in the local culture, talking to people, and experiencing life through their eyes. Iāve been doing just that in the charming cafes and restaurants, sitting down with locals, trying their delicious food, and learning about their history. It makes the trip much more authentic and personal.
Speaking of locals, have you seen those gorgeous, elegant, chic, Italian women? I have to say, my love for fashion has reached another level with their fabulous outfits and effortless styles! Oh, they inspire me! I am trying to put my own spin on Italian elegance, just a bit of pink added here and there for that hint of Pink Tutu magic, of course!
A Pink Tutuās Take on the Eternal City
Rome is a city of contrast ā a city where history and modernity exist side by side, where grand Baroque architecture meets buzzing trattorias and hidden piazzas. Itās a place of romance, artistry, and laughter. And for me, itās also a place to spread my pink tutu love!
To my pink tutu-ers who are planning to visit Rome, hereās my tip: lose yourself in the charming cobblestone streets, embrace the local culture, and always, always, always carry your pink tutu - for you never know who you might meet along the way, or who needs a touch of pink sparkle!
Thatās all for this week, my darlings! I can't wait to share my experiences of Broadway in Rome next week - with even more pink, tutus and of course, travel tips for any budding fashion enthusiasts who might be heading this way! Until next time, my pink tutu-ers, stay fabulous!
With lots of love and a touch of pink,
