Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, bringing you another exciting entry from my never-ending ballet journey. Today's post is extra special - it's #10659! Can you believe we're already over 10,000 posts in? My, how time flies when you're twirling! ๐
As you know, I love a good adventure, and this weekend was no different. My dear friend Emily, the aspiring ballerina with the killer leg extensions, convinced me to take a day trip to East Ham. Now, I know what you're thinking: "East Ham? That's a bit far from your usual Derbyshire stomping grounds, Emma!" And you'd be right! But hear me out - it was the perfect mix of culture, urban flair, and a dash of whimsy.
We decided to arrive in style, of course! A long train journey with Emily in her pink tulle skirt and me in my trusty, blush-coloured tutu was a joy in itself. I mean, imagine all the funny looks and bewildered stares - the ultimate pink tutu statement right there on the train platform!
Our first stop was the East Ham Library. I'm always drawn to grand old buildings, and this one was a stunner! We peeked inside and admired the stained-glass windows while giggling about the historical stories etched into the glass - did you know East Ham was once a stronghold of the Vikings? Talk about your historical flair!
The best part? This amazing library held a special exhibition dedicated to all things ballet! It featured incredible photographs from past Royal Opera House performances, a mini-history of ballet in Britain, and even a collection of vintage tutus! Let me tell you, it was like stepping into a time machine. I even managed to score a postcard of the Royal Ballet's current production of "Swan Lake" โ perfect for adding to my collection.
After the library, we explored the buzzing market stalls and quaint independent shops of East Ham. We ended up snagging the cutest little pink cardigan at a second-hand clothing store - it'll look smashing with my new tulle skirt!
Naturally, no trip to East Ham would be complete without a trip to the East Ham Theatre. It was built back in 1882, making it an absolutely gorgeous example of Victorian architecture. While we couldn't attend a show that day, I just couldn't resist snapping a few photos of the beautiful facade, complete with my pink tutu for an extra dose of fairytale flair!
Oh, and how could I forget the highlight of the day - our encounter with a very friendly park squirrel! It looked up at me with the most curious expression before scampering away with a piece of my pink candy floss (don't worry, I brought enough to share!). ๐ฟ๏ธ ๐
All in all, my East Ham adventure was a total blast! I fell in love with the areaโs eclectic energy and couldnโt help but feel a little bit inspired by its history. But hereโs the biggest takeaway: no matter where you go, your pink tutu always makes a statement, and itโs guaranteed to brighten even the most unexpected of days!
