Riding into Edinburgh
My journey to Edinburgh started in a most delightful way – on horseback! I know, right? Who needs a train when you can gallop across the countryside, feeling the wind in your hair? I took a ride with a fantastic equestrian group near my Derbyshire home, which got my inner warrior goddess going. It was an incredible way to start the trip and honestly, made me wish I could ride to all my future adventures. 🐎
Edinburgh’s Tutu Twist
I have to admit, I was nervous about finding a bit of tutu-tastic fun in a place like Edinburgh. Sure, I knew the city was beautiful, but did it have the pink sparkle my soul needed? Turns out, Edinburgh was absolutely full of hidden gems for a ballet girl on the go!
Firstly, I couldn't resist popping into the Edinburgh Ballet School, where I managed to squeeze in a class, of course! You bet I danced in a pink tutu and oh boy, I tell you what, these Scottish ballerinas were amazing. Talk about fierce! The passion for ballet they shared just electrified the whole studio, making it such an inspiring atmosphere. 🔥
But wait, there's more! Next, I stumbled upon the most gorgeous antique shop, brimming with lace, silk, and even a few antique tutus! Now, these were not your typical dance-wear tutus. They were more...dramatic! One particularly splendid example was all shades of magenta and purple, with a delicate lace hem. Honestly, I wouldn't have looked out of place in a Shakespearean play in that tutu! 🎭
Street Performers with Ballet Dreams
As a girl who adores a bit of theatre, I absolutely had to see a performance in Edinburgh, and luckily, it found me!
As I strolled past Edinburgh Castle, a group of buskers took my breath away. These weren't just your usual buskers, they were ballet dancers! Now, imagine this scene - ancient castle looming in the background, these incredible dancers executing incredible jumps and leaps, surrounded by cheering tourists, it was magical! 🩰
It’s amazing how these dancers use their art as a way to connect with people, a universal language of joy. And even though they were on the street, you could sense their passion and dedication to their craft, just like the ballerinas at the Edinburgh Ballet School. I even ended up chatting with one of the dancers about their life as a street performer and learned so much about their incredible talent and determination!
Wild Encounters in Edinburgh Zoo
What's a trip to Edinburgh without a visit to the legendary Edinburgh Zoo? Of course, I couldn't miss out! You might think, what's a tutu girl doing in a zoo? Well, let's just say there was a special someone who stole my heart!
It was a graceful and playful penguin! Let’s face it, I've always felt a connection with penguins. We both love tutus (in our own way), we both waddle (though I tend to have more graceful turns, I'm pretty sure), and we both share a passion for ice... I mean... a frosty cold rink. 🐧
So I made sure I posed for some fantastic photos with the majestic penguins. Let's be real, a girl needs some evidence of her exciting adventures! And hey, if you want to look extra stylish for your own penguin photo, just wear a bright pink tutu! The creatures just love it - I'm not joking. I hear they think it's an invite for a penguin ballet party. 😜
