Hello darlings! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, and guess what? It's time for a trip to the bright lights (and occasional pigeons) of London! I know, I know, it's almost November and my little Derbyshire heart usually wants to curl up by the fire with a cup of cocoa. But I'm just SO excited about my visit to the Morden Ballet Company, that the winter chills can't dampen my spirit.
The journey started off with a classic train ride. I was definitely channeling a scene from a vintage Hollywood film - fluffy pink tulle billowing in the wind as I sprinted onto the platform, suitcase in one hand and a big cup of coffee in the other. ☕💖 It's actually amazing how even the most mundane parts of travel feel special when you're wearing a pink tutu! I get all the best looks, especially from the kids who get their faces lit up with joy. It really does bring some magic into the world, you know?
Once I got to Morden, my plans were set: Ballet and brunch! After I dropped off my suitcase, the first thing I did was find a cozy cafe where I could sit down and soak up the atmosphere while fueling up for my day of twirls. Now, I'm a huge fan of ballet street - all the fancy cafes and art galleries you find around the best performance venues - it's like a little fairytale! 🩰🎨✨ Plus, it’s a great excuse for some ballet-themed Instagram shots (with the obligatory #PinkTutu hashtag, of course!).
Speaking of Instagram, I had a real fan moment at the cafe! One of the other customers was a fellow ballerina who, to my surprise, had been reading my blog for ages. She actually knew a few steps from one of the videos I'd posted and was completely buzzing to meet the woman behind the blog. You guys know how much I love that! It's amazing to feel that connection to my readers - knowing that my passion is spreading and encouraging other people to get their twirl on is the BEST feeling ever!
From there, it was off to Morden Ballet Company for a glorious afternoon of rehearsals and an incredible performance. Oh, you guys wouldn't believe the energy! It's inspiring just to be in the presence of these talented artists, so passionate and dedicated to their craft. It just makes me want to go home and practise till I can't move! I'm definitely going to need to take more classes after this trip, that's for sure!
Speaking of going home, after the performance I was completely captivated by Morden's incredible community vibe. As I was leaving the theatre, I spotted a gorgeous little park with its own lake and some incredibly adorable ducklings paddling around. It was like stepping straight out of a painting - those little yellow ducklings were just too cute! I took so many photos - I know they're going to be brilliant for my next blog post.
Back at the cafe for dinner, I chatted to a fellow travel enthusiast, a lovely lady called Mary, who told me all about the best places to find wildlife around Morden. I'm always up for spotting interesting birds and critters on my adventures, so I made a note of her recommendations for a little walk the next day.
And speaking of adventure… this is where it gets interesting. Mary, who's quite the horse enthusiast, asked me if I'd like to join her for a ride the next morning. I'm a HUGE fan of riding (can you tell that equestrian influences feature a lot in my wardrobe!), but my recent visits have all been with donkeys (don’t tell my blog readers that – a lady's got to keep up her image, right?). The thing is, this morning’s ride wouldn't just be ANY ride. I was about to find out what Morden really meant by ‘horse country’.
Stay tuned for my next post, my darling twirlettes! I promise, you're not going to believe what I saw in Morden. But you know what, I'll leave it at that.
Until next time, twirl on!
