Hayes in a Yellow Tutu - Blog Post #10895

Hey lovelies!

It’s your girl, Emma, back again for another pink and twirly adventure! Today we're in Hayes, a little town that I must say is starting to feel like home to me. And no, it's not just because it's near the wonderful world of Heathrow Airport (I know what you’re thinking). There's a certain charm about Hayes, especially when you add a dash of pink and a sprinkle of tutus!

This past weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of performing in a beautiful outdoor ballet piece under the starlit sky at Hayes End Park. Honestly, you guys, it was a dream come true! It was one of those performances where everything just clicked - the music, the light, the wind rustling through the leaves, and, of course, the twirling tutus. Speaking of twirling, I chose to don a vibrant yellow tutu for the occasion, you know, for a little sunshine in the evening air! It truly was a joy to watch the audience light up with smiles as we took them on a journey through a world of graceful movements and enchanting stories.

Before the show, we had a quick, invigorating warm-up in a little hall next to the park. It was delightful to be surrounded by my fellow dancers, all of us in our vibrant, brightly coloured tutus, a real kaleidoscope of twirling energy! As I got ready, I spotted this little hedgehog hiding under a rose bush, looking absolutely adorable. It felt so special to be in this little green haven, feeling the excitement of the show and the gentle touch of nature, all at once!

But before the weekend, we did some exploring! You guys know how much I love my trains! And lucky for me, Hayes is right on the line! This little town holds such a sweet, nostalgic feeling - those quaint little cottages, the village square where you can imagine a friendly town market back in the day, and even a beautiful old church. The people of Hayes are kind and welcoming, making you feel at home in a heartbeat! It's one of those places where time seems to slow down and you just feel happy to be!

And for me, it wasn't just about the pretty scenery. As a ballerina, Hayes presented some exciting challenges for me! I stumbled upon this fantastic community hall where I joined a weekly ballet class. The space might not have been the grandest, but it held an energy that was just as strong and uplifting as any famous studio! It was so heartwarming to see young kids learning ballet, and it reminded me of my first steps in this wonderful world.

As the weekend drew to a close, I found myself yearning for a touch more nature, a feeling that I've been getting more and more lately. It’s almost as if the city buzz, although thrilling, starts to feel too much. My Derbyshire heart needs a good dose of green! Thankfully, Hayes is just a short ride on a scenic path away from the lovely Hayes Valley Country Park.

Now, this little slice of nature truly captured my soul. With its gentle slopes, hidden pathways, and calming sounds of bird song, it offered the perfect place for my creative juices to flow. I spent the afternoon strolling through the meadow, capturing the beauty of the wild flowers blooming in their full glory, all while trying to inspire myself with some new moves for the show. As the sunlight played on the water of the pond, I could hear myself say, "Wouldn’t this be magical if we brought some of this natural energy into a performance?". The combination of vibrant hues, whimsical blooms, and the quiet stillness of nature sparked my imagination like never before. It was here, under the bright blue sky, that I got the idea to wear the yellow tutu!

And you know what else, I discovered the cutest little shop called 'The Yellow Tutu', which was a sign for me to do it, don't you think? It felt like fate! It's filled with the most charming trinkets and gifts – definitely one for any budding ballet dancer or simply anyone with a love for all things beautiful! Of course, I snagged a tiny pink tutu for myself (couldn’t leave empty handed!), perfect for my ballet journal collection.

Leaving Hayes, I felt like I was leaving a part of my heart in that beautiful town. The experiences I had there, the people I met, the performances I danced in, and, yes, even that cute little hedgehog – it all just filled my heart with joy! This town definitely has a special place in my heart, especially now that it has become the site of one of my most memorable and twirling adventures yet!

Until next time, stay pink and keep twirling!

Emma xoxo
